“This was the prettiest cottage we have ever had!”

Pat made us feel very much at home. The cottage is well equipped and beautifully decorated with nice little things to look at. The bed is comfortable and the view out of bed amazing.

Pat made us feel very much at home. The cottage is well equipped and beautifully decorated with nice little things to look at. The bed is comfortable and the view out of bed amazing. The most astonishing fact for us was this: you go outside and you hear nothing!! We really enjoyed the tranquillity of this beautiful location, the stunning views and lovely sunsets. We also enjoyed the great Isle of Skye. A wonderful place to be, lots of landscape to enjoy and walks to do.

The property

Uig 6 miles.

A pretty whitewashed stone cottage which is situated near the village of Uig.

Bothan Aonghais (Angus's Cottage in Gaelic) is ideal for a couple who appreciate the comfort and tasteful decor of this traditional highland home.

The cottage has been refurbished to a very high standard offering smart and cosy accommodation.

The sitting room has a welcoming woodburning stove, great for those cosy nights in.

The bedroom oozes style and comfort with the kitchen and dining area being well-equipped for all those budding chefs.

From all the windows there are uninterrupted views to the sea with the Outer Hebrides clearly visible in the distance.

The cottage is privately situated and the garden area to the front is enclosed by a stone dyke wall adding to the atmosphere of bygone days.

A large raised deck at the front of the cottage is a perfect place for relaxation whilst listening to the birds and soaking up the surrounding, wonderful views.

Leaving Bothan Aonghais will be difficult but Skye is a wonderful island to explore with a rugged dramatic coastline and scenery difficult to beat.

Why not do the circular tour turning left and following the Trotternish Peninsula, passing the stunning Quirang and onto the iconic Old Man of Storr, with its wonderful pathway up to the pinnacle.

Less than an hour away is the capital town of Portree, where you can enjoy a little shopping and a wander around the pretty harbour.

About the location

UIG

Portree 15 miles.

The village of Uig (pronounced "Oo-ig"), at the northern tip of Skye, rests on the shores of Loch Snizort, Skye’s largest sea loch off the Atlantic. The village boasts two pubs, two shops, a hotel, a filling station and cafe, as well as two other businesses well-worth a visit. Uig Pottery sells a range of high quality pottery produced on-site, while the Skye Brewery sells its own superb real ales from the brewery shop. Sheltered by high cliffs, the bay is one of the most beautiful in Skye, and is home to the ferry terminal for the Outer Hebrides. Wildlife in the area includes golden eagles, sea eagles, pilot whales, seals and dolphins. The attractions of the Isle, including the main town of Portree, are all within easy reach of this tranquil base.
