"Fine house in a great position in a lovely area."
Good views direct from the house and garden. Well organised - particularly the kitchen - e.g. cupboards free for guest's supplies, not filled up with host's stuff; and a choice of washing "tools" not just one. (Heating control slightly baffling but worked effectively when set.) Would love to stay again.
"Excellent and very comfortable accommodation with spectacular views, situated right on the foreshore of Loch Ewe."
Possible to spot a variety of sea birds and even seals directly from the dining room table! Great base for exploring the local lochs, coasts, countryside and hills.
"Stayed in Pool House last year & had to come back."
Beautiful property & stunning location. Everything provided for, didn’t want for anything.
"A stunning location, very comfortable and clean house with all amenities we needed."
The house acts like a hide for wildlife being so close to a small river and Loch. From the house we saw Red deer drinking from the small river on the beach, Loads of water based birds fishing and foraging for food amounts the seaweed and we saw a Otter down in Poolewe on the River Ewe. Landscapes around the house and local area is incredible. We Kayaked on Loch Maree instead on Loch Ewe as Loch Ewe has some big currents that we didn’t feel happy about tackling. Highly recommend the Loch Kernasary circular walk make sure to go round the walk clock wise it’s far more spectacular. Owners have been brilliant and been easy to get hold off.
"Perfect location for a peaceful and relaxing holiday."
The views are simply breathtaking. The house is very well equipped and couldn’t ask for more. Best house we have booked by far.

Beautifully furnished throughout. Well equipped kitchen. Very clean and well maintained. Lovely garden where we watched baby sparrows being fed. Fantastic views across Loch Ewe. Many thanks for making this a memorable holiday. Anna.
"Property comfortable and well maintained."
Excellent position a few feet from the sea looking east across Loch Ewe. Easy to find. Shops and other facilities in Poolewe and Gairloch. Good walks in the area for all abilities. Inverewe Gardens well worth a visit. Abundance of bird life in the vicinity of Pool House.

"Very comfortable, clean cottage, very well-provided with necessities, and more, and with lovely views over Loch Ewe, which it is next to."
"An lovely cottage with the most amazing view of Loch Ewe - it's literally on your doorstep."
If you want peace and quiet in a relaxing location, this is the place. Accommodation is great, comfortable beds, lots of living space. Sit outside and enjoy the views.
"The house is in a lovely spot, perfect for access to the shore and for views across the loch to the north."
We found the house extremely clean, well equipped and comfortable; the only drawback was the awkwardness of the drive.
"What a lovely place to stay - everything was so comfortable, very clean and homely."
The location with the views over the lake and to the mountains were stunning - we saw so many birds on the lake that we hadn't seen before - Great Northern Diver, Merganzers, Dunlin, Greenshank. Have already recommended this house to friends - and we would definately stay here again.
"Nice, geneerally well equiped house in beautiful surroundings."
Very clean and tidy on entry. Excellent heating. Kitchen adequate but very small and not very well arranged. No dishwasher, which mattered more since sink and drainer very awkwardly placed for hand washing up. Owner VERY helpful indeed over e-bike storage -- much appreciated. Three minor failings: 1) only one bathroom in the house situated downstairs but all bedrooms situated upstairs. This should really be made clearer in the description -- and the provision of chamber pots in the bedrooms, old fashioned as it might seem, could be very useful. 2) we were seriously too hot in bed under a duvet which felt both over heavy and needlessly warm. Only on stripping the beds to leave did we discover that the duvet was in fact 2 10 tog duvets one held on top of the other by poppers. If we had known this at the start of the week we could have discarded one duvet and spent more comfortable nights, 3) Parking area is claimed to have room for two cars. It's adequate for one, but two would be very tight indeed. Moreover entry to the parking space is awkward and when arriving from Poolewe requires either reverse entry from a surprisingly busy road or a 300 yard drive to find space to turn round so as to enter the space forwards. Needless to say leaving the parking space onto a band in a single track road only permits departure in one direction and requires a turn-around to go in the other.
"Wonderfully located right next to the shore with a magnificent panoramic view over Loch Ewe giving excellent landscape photograph opportunities."
A well designed building with good and easy to control heating. It was so thoughtfully equipped that we had everything we needed. Every room was spotlessly clean and tidy and the garden carefully tended.
"Superb holiday cottage with everything needed generously supplied."
Cosy and spotless. Parking may be an issue for bigger vehicles (we usually travel in a van and that would have been tight) Great view, always fascinating.
"Excellent situation with lots of opportunities for observing wildlife."
Very well equipped cottage, warm and comfortable.
"Very well equipped house in wonderful location."
All facilities were provided, satelitte tv very good. Beautiful views over the loch to the mountains. Nice garden with lots of birds to feed. Good to have two comfortable rooms to sit in.
"Pool House was spotlessly clean and in a stunning location on the shore of Loch Ewe."
It was perfectly placed for the exploration of the local area and its' history. We enjoyed our stay.
"Fantastic cottage and location, great and thoughtful facilities."
"Cottage was in a fantastic location, spotless when we arrived and so very well stocked of all the essentials."
Brilliant view across the loch. Very well equipped cottage
"A warm cosy cottage in a fabulous location on the edge of Loch Ewe."
Good old-fashioned spacious comfort! Good Wifi and two large TVs. Garden views in three directions, incl. across the loch north to distant mountains and inland towards the Beinn Eighe range. Seabirds on the loch and many birds in the garden, but sadly I didn't see an otter. There is no local pub or restaurant, which might not suit some. The drive is four miles from Poolewe along a single-track road. There's a lovely sandy beach a few miles further along the loch. I'd certainly revisit.
"The cottage was fabulous as usual - a home from home with fantastic views"

Ideal location at the loch side gave us plenty of opportunity for wildlife watching.
"Very comfy house in a great location overlooking Loch Ewe."
"A lovey cosy cottage with everything we needed - comfy beds, hot shower and only a few miles from the village where we could get our essentials."
but the setting was breathtaking. Opening the curtains in the morning and seeing the crystal clear waters of the loch against the mountainous backdrop was an awesome sight and one that will stay with us forever. Watching the occasional seal in the bay was a bonus and the walks to the cliffs at the end of the peninsula were exhilarating. Gairloch is close by where you grab something to eat and go out on a boat trip if you fancy it. We were lucky enough to have fantastic weather which only added to an already great holiday. What a fantastic setting for potentially a wonderful holiday.
"Wonderful cottage, well equipped, comfortable and excellent situated on the edge of the loch."
Loads of wildlife, otters, seals, great northern divers etc. Excellent local facilities - don't miss Poolewe market on Tuesday mornings. Brilliant than you.
"Wonderful setting, comfortable house that is well stocked with all of the basics."
From the breakfast table watched great northern diver, seals, and otter.
"Great views, excellent beach nearby."
House warm and very comfortable. Sykes accidentally let us book for 5 people when in fact the 3 rd room is not supposed to be used and max is occupation is 4. However a call to the owner saw a neighbour come quickly with key for the linen cupboard and sort out the third bedroom for our use so excellent response from the owner.

This is a fabulous house and we have thoroughly enjoyed our holiday We had everything we needed and rested very well Love this place and am sure we will return Thank you Susan Davies
"Pool House is a lovely cottage and is right on the shores of Loch Ewe, with stunning views across the loch to the Mountains of Suilven and Ben Mor Coigach."
We saw a variety of wildlife from the dining room, including an otter feeding near to the slipway. If you are a hillwalker or lover of wildlife this is an ideal place to stay.
"Whenever I book with Sykes, the experience is very easy and hassle free."
This cottage was so lovely, the views were spectacular, the house was clean and so very well stocked. I had a text conversation with the owner at one point, and she couldn't have been nicer if she tried. This cottage is definitely one I would return to.
"Pool House was simply the best in every way, the house has a lovely atmosphere, and the owners have obviously gone to great lengths to provide everything that we could possibly have needed."
The garden is also beautifully kept, and the views are stunning. This is one that we most definitely will be returning to, a real gem.
"It was the cleanliness of the cottage the location the people around the cottage wer very friendly just a perfect holiday as the last couple of years I will be booking for next year a big thank you to everyone involved."
"Had a great week although the weather was cold."
There were no spare blankets/duvets and we contacted the owners as our boys were cold during the night. The owners delivered some extra blankets which was great service considering the location. Apart from this the cottage is very well equipped and clean.
"We enjoyed the location, the comfort of the cottage and especially the view and wildlife on the doorstep."

About the location
Dingwall 50 miles; Ullapool 50 miles.
The pretty village of Poolewe sits in the shelter of Loch Ewe, at the mouth of the River Ewe where it tumbles down from Loch Maree. It is a pretty place in an area of spectacular scenery and is home to a well-stocked shop, small swimming pool and two hotels. The world-renowned Inverewe Garden (National Trust) is half a mile across the bay from the village. The site was developed by the botanist Osgood Mackenzie from 1862 until his death in 1922. Warmed by the Gulf Stream, it is home to exotic plants, imported from all over the world – a must for all visitors to the area. Firemore beach is five miles to the west and north along the coast is Gruinard Bay with its striking sands; a series of attractive beaches skirt the bay and a number are easily reached from the main road. With spectacular scenery, mountains, excellent hillwalking, golf, fishing, wildlife cruises and much more, this is a great area for a holiday!
