  • "This is a lovely cottage all the way up in the north of Skye."

It provided us with all the comfort we needed after long days of exploring the island. It's also a great (and warm!) place if you just want to spend a day inside. The cottage is well equiped with kitchen items although do make sure you stock up on groceries in Portree or Uig before arriving as it's a bit of a drive to get to nearby towns. We would not hestitate to return and have recommend the place to friends already. The only downside - and I mention this if you might need to work a bit during your stay - is that the internet is spotty. As the cell reception isn't that great in the area either, any 'data intensive' work could be an issue. But emails shouldn't be a problem.

  • "We loved the cottage and it met our needs perfectly."

Great location for exploring Skye and very affordable. We did many walks and went wild swimming at Staffin Bay. Would definitely book again.

  • "We had an amazing stay at Talla Hope."

It was an excellent base to explore all that Skye had to offer. After chilly days exploring it was lovely to come back to Talla Hope to warm up in front of the log burner. The daily visit from the 2 highland cows kept my children entertained and allowed for some amazing photographs! We were all sad to leave!!!!

  • "This was a beautiful and cosy home from home with everything you need to have a relaxed holiday."

Stunning views, peace and tranquility. And a couple of gorgeous young cattle to greet you in the morning. Our only niggle, but not really that, was the green light which stays on all night, (safety light) lit up the mezzanine, we like it pitch black when sleeping. Beds really comfy, my husband and I loved having a bathroom each!

  • "Really enjoyed staying in this sympathetically converted old chapel."

Lovely and warm and well equipped with full range of kitchen utensils and pans, microwave, washer/dryer, heated towel rails, two showers and bathrooms. Everything clean and well maintained. Towels and tea towels provided. The property is set slightly back from the A855 which at this point is single track and not busy. There is parking at the roadside and a large white sign saying Talla Hope; the WhatThreeWords address is agreed.coolest.snowballs and the property is marked with a cross on the OS map (church); we had no difficulty in finding it and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Excellent coffee and cake just up the road at Kilmaluag on the left.

Good evening. Thank you so much for the feedback, we really appreciate that. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and that the house met your expectations. Thanks for bringing the what three words to our attention and hope the weather was kind? Skye is indeed such a special place. Property Owner

  • "Talla Hope is a pleasant and well maintained property with all you need for a comfortable stay."

The garden is small and pleasantly natural, providing a picnic bench and firepit for evening BBQS after exploring the wonders of Skye. The location is about 2 hours from the Skye bridge so be prepared for the extra drive after you arrive on to the island but you will be rewarded with a perfectly scenic and peaceful location. Approx. 20mins drive to Uig and the nearest well stocked shops. We took in a lot of the historical and scenic attractions from here either walking or by car. A memorable visit. I would definitely return and book the Talla Hope again. Lovely accomodation.

  • "Hello, Absolutely loved our stay at Talla Hope."

What a lovely place to spend a quiet week walking Skye. The only downside was no washing machine...we did pack enough to last us all...but with 3 kids it was tricky. Never the less, faultless wee place in the most beautiful surroundings. Sat happily at night at the picnic table watching the world go by and the stars! Stunning landscape & lots to do locally. Our kids loved it which really is quite something. Felt so at home. Would happily return. Thanks ever so to all involved with Talla Hope. kind regards, Nicola Bain

  • "The property is in a beautiful location and is clean enough however , the heating in the property is mediocre at best so had a few chilly nights as there are drafts ."

Skye is a wet and windy place but there are no drying facilities so wet coats , gloves shoes etc have to be dried in a creative manner. The TV was broken , reported it to Sykes who immediately contacted the owner who sent there handyman out who confirmed it was broken but it wasn’t replaced .So a few nights spent on our phones ( not exactly thrilled about that ) Considering check out time is 10 am and check in isn’t until 4 pm , I am surprised it wasn’t picked up on when the inspection is done before we arrived . Good job our kids are grown up . Not the best cottage for wet/cold weather . I am disappointed as it wasn’t quite up to the same standards as we have had in the past with other cottages through Sykes that we have had in the winter months and loved every minute . We will definitely rent again through Sykes , just not the same place .

Thank you for the feedback and we feel under the circumstances that it is important that we respond. The house has a shoe rack and clothes horse to assist with drying wet items. The heating to the lounge and hall was renewed December 2021. There are additional heaters in all bedrooms and all can be turned on and adjusted to give additional heat. The TV was checked and was working on your day of arrival. As there are no shops on Skye that sell TV's we were unable to replace during your visit. We purchased a new digital box and compatible smart TV and had that installed in just over 48 hours from Sykes notification email. On a personal visit to do this we noted that the house was nice and warm on what was a cold day on Skye. Whilst your booking was for two adults we wonder as to why you mention "kids" when the use of the house confirms otherwise. Property Owner

  • "House was comfortable and clean."

Lovely situation with good views. Nice furniture and fittings. We were very lucky to experience good weather. There are no real drying facilities in the house should you encounter wet weather or anywhere to put wet coats/boots. Mezzanine bedroom has restricted height - was ok for us but maybe not for taller folk! Kitchen was well equipped although due to lack of space only a small fridge/freezer and no dishwasher. A welcome pack with a few basics would have been a nice touch especially considering the more remote location of the house and the weekly rental paid. It doesn’t have to cost a lot to provide this. Take everything you need (tea, coffee etc) with you. The pub that is mentioned in the description we ascertained must be the Flodigarry Hotel - a 10 minute drive away. We ate here one evening which was very good but pretty expensive. Overall we loved Skye and had a great week .
