  • "MacKenzie's Peak is in an excellent location for exploring the island."

The upstairs lounge has great views overlooking the loch and beyond to Raasay. It is a short walk to the ferry which takes you over to this much smaller island. The northern Cuillins are just behind the property and you can look out on them from the upstairs bedroom (these were snow capped when we arrived). The property was well equipped, very comfortable, lovely and warm.

The location is perfect as it’s right up the road from Broadford. We loved the history that came with the house (saw Mackenzie’s monument up the road and felt proud we were staying where he lived!) it was such a special trip and waking up to the views was amazing. Had such a special time with my mom that we will always remember (and will be back next fall!!) thank you Nikki!!

Very clean with amazing views from the front of the house of Raasay and the bay. Sat back from the road we found the property very private & quiet . The central location on Skye made it ideal for accessing all parts of the island and my Wife enjoyed some excellent cycle rides. Friendly owner who lives right next door.

  • "This is the best house we ever rented."

It is spacious, clean, cosy and has the most fantastic view. Very central on the Isle of Skye, all sights within one hour of driving. We saw the nortern lights, rainbows, sea otters and seals from the living room! Walked fairy pools, old man of storr, saw Dolphins on the small Isles boat trip from Elgol, shot clay pigeons, visited Rasaay, Portree and saw so many beautiful things. The weather was perfect, sometimes a bit of rain and mist but when the sky opens the colours burst out and are wonderful. Owner is very kind, Thanks a lot !

Accommodations were great, owner supplied us with soap for the washer as we didn’t realize that “self catering” meant you have to bring everything with you. Mrs. Nicolson was very nice and took care of us though. Recommend that you make restaurant reservations well before as they were all booked and the closest options are a 30 minute drive to Portree. Had to settle for the co-op take home one night. Beautiful view from the upstairs living room.

The views are wonderful and the house is more spacious and decorated even nicer than what the photos show . The kitchen is a dream to cook in. Stayed for 4 nights and Nikki, the owner, was a lifesaver in trying to help us track down our lost luggage. She went above and beyond in her pleasantness and willingness to help us. This is a quiet retreat and comes highly recommended.

The owner Nikki (we didn't meet Hamish this week) is very friendly and helpful and whilst we didn't have any issues I'm sure they would have been dealt with promptly. Having never been been to Skye before we plumped for Sconser as it seemed quite central and as it turned out it's an ideal base for touring the Island as you can strike out North, South and West from here really easily plus a few miles up the road is the Sligachan Hotel which is a nice place to spend some time but also the start of some good walks and an attractive river location. All in all we were very pleased with our choice and would recommend MacKenzies Peak to friends or visit again ourselves if we revisit Skye.

We did enjoy one great day of sun and went over to Rasaay which was so easy, with the ferry terminal just down the hill.
