  • “Cottage smelled musty, couldn't put clothing in the drawers as they all smelled musty too.”

It was ideal for a family our size but the kitchen equipment really let it down. There were two frying pans, one had the non-stick peeling off and the otherwas so filthy we didn't touch it. There were ample saucepans but anything that had a non-stick coating was peeling and everything was greasy and had to be washed before it could be used, including the cutlery. Wooden spoons so old the wood was separating and sticky utensils. Also most of the symbols on the oven dials have been scrubbed off ...

Wooden spoons so old the wood was separating and sticky utensils. Also most of the symbols on the oven dials have been scrubbed off. As a family not planning to eat out every day it made it hard work. Also the view from the cottage, whilst beautiful, is not quite as advertised as there are other buildings and foliage in front of the sea so the photo on the advert must have been taken with a zoom lens and is misleading. There was an issue with the shower which the owner corrected very quickly. Shame the kitchen lets this place down.

About the location

BROADFORD

Portree 29 miles.

Skye's second largest village, Broadford lies in the shadow of the Red Cuillins and spreads itself along the southern side of Broadford Bay. Views extend out to the Isle of Pabay and more distantly to the Applecross mountains on the mainland. The village caters well for the tourists with shops, hotels and colourful craft stalls. Close by is the little village of Elgol, which enjoys 'the finest view in Britain' - the end of the Cuillin Ridge seen across Loch Scavaig. From Elgol pier take an unforgettable boat trip to Loch Coruisk in the heart of Cullin Mountain Range. The nearby Sleat Peninsula known as the 'Garden of Skye' has many attractions and a ferry link to the mainland - Armadale to Mallaig.
