  • "We had the most peaceful stay at Rose Cottage."

It is very spacious, clean, and well laid out. It was an ideal base to explore the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, and the weather was kind too. Our dogs enjoyed the enclosed garden, and it was nice to see lots of wildlife out of the window. A very comfortable, away from it all cottage.

  • "Had a wonderful week in this wee cottage in Feb 22."

Could not fault the cottage in any way and the wood burning fire was a great bonus. Views from the windows where amazing... from the numerous birds at the feeders, a passing red deer stag and the local sheep and gang of chickens to the Milky way at night.... magical. Dog friendly ... and Reilly loved it too. We had snow, gales and hail.... making cosying up in front of the fire even more welcome. Would highly recommend and hope to return next winter

  • "A superb cottage - very warm and spacious."

one of the best we have stayed in and was a delight to return to at the end of the day. A couple of small points - there is a notice by the sink saying £100 would be charged for any blockages - this could also be helped by the inclusion of a cheap sink drainer to prevent items being washed into the sink drain. The TV is getting on a bit and the lcd screen is past its sell by date and in a room as big as the living room a bigger tv would be better. Also both the sky and tv remotes did not function. The freesat was not working and even the contact person and her son could not get it to work so for the 2 weeks we were without that facility. Apart from that - the cottage was one we would be happy to use again as the overall comfort and the kitchen (and utensils) was of a very high standard. The roads are easily driven with care and by using the correct passing places and we did not once have any problems along the single track roads but people must be aware that it will take time to get to places as there are a lot of lochs in the way of any direct route :) The scenery, which is what we went for, was superb and the living room and main bedroom window gave a great view. Overall - a 9 out of 10 for the cottage

  • "Sounds a small point, we only had need use the wood burner twice - an axe would have helped , the logs were too bulky and so difficult to burn."

The property was really enjoyed with views of the deer visible on the hills behind

  • "Rose Cottage is well situated with everything you need for a very comfortable stay."

It was Very clean and well equipped, - a tumble drier would be most useful for occasions when the weather is inclement. We enjoyed our stay very much, thank you.

  • "The view from living room window, lovely hill side, was amazing and could be made more of in description."

Given travelling time /distance and late arrival often the case. With limited opening time of local shop, it would have been useful to have a few essentials supplied like bread and milk, tea etc. I suppose not able to fo because of Covid. Some great local walks from cottage and that could be made clear to guests. E. G at end of land onto Moor to mouth of Loch. Also across bog along track to Kentra Bay.

It is very quiet there. We were able to see deer, a pine marten and a golden eagle

  • "Very spacious cottage - with lots of facilities."

Clean and very good enclosed garden and lovely view out back. Only disappointment was although lots of dvd were provided there were not instructions for the dvd and it did not appear to be connected to anything. Some simple instructions would have been useful. Also shower rail was unstable and may need repairing. Overall had a wonderful time in this quiet and beautiful area. The local hotel served very good meals and dog friendly.

  • "The cottage was spacious clean and well equipped."

The views out of the back of the cottage (living room) were lovely and the garden was bigger than we have had when staying in previous cottages. I think what people need to be aware of is how remote this is from tourist attractions in terms of time due to the single track roads. There are several good pubs which have a good menu and welcome dogs within 10-15 minutes drive.

  • "If not using satnav (we had to go on to mapping app to find although admittedly we didn't look up beforehnd on OS map) the directions could be more clear as cottage is just outside Acharacle on a side road."

Unfortunately Covid19 meant that we saw a slightly cut down version of facilities, however we enjoyed the stay. Have used Sykes cottages before and with current conditions will be doing so again early next year.

  • "Rose Cottage was very fairly described and met our expectations for a budget cottage."

The beds were very comfortable and the log burner was well stocked and made the place very cosy. It is a lovely quiet spot with beautiful views of the mountains. However, in view of the pandemic I felt the cottage could have been cleaner. It clearly had only had a standard clean, not a deep clean - the TV remote controls, for example, were filthy and some of the plates were not as well washed as they could have been. Despite this it was a lovely week and I would recommend it for anyone looking for a cheaper, basic option.
