The property

Beloved and well-known part of local village community, The Schoolhouse in Binstead, originally built in 1854 for the village children, has been lovingly converted into this wonderful two-bedroom cottage, close to many stunning countryside walks and the golden sands of Ryde, on the Isle of Wight. The front door greets you as soon as you enter through the main garden gate and opens into a spacious hallway.

The master bedroom will be found at the front on your right-hand side, providing plenty of storage with a large built-in wardrobe and large chest of drawers, whilst next door is the twin bedroom.

The family shower room is directly opposite the front door, therefore leaving the spacious sitting/dining room left of the hallway. Games, books, radio with Bluetooth, TV and DVD are there all ready for you to sit back and relax after an adventurous day discovering many of the Island's hidden treasures.

The fitted kitchen is off the sitting room, thoughtfully equipped making The Schoolhouse a real home-from-home. Outside to the side you will find the graveled terraced courtyard garden area, with table and chairs, deckchairs, room for a BBQ and a small shed perfect for storing bikes.

Behind the cottage there is use of a single garage (not suitable for larger vehicles). Binstead is perfectly located being minutes from the ferries at Fishbourne (car) and Ryde (passenger), as well as being on the main bus link between Newport and Ryde with buses passing every 10 minutes. The village has a friendly local shop and family dining pub that is open all day, both within a 5 minutes walk. The cottage is very close to part of the Islands coastal path which leads to Binstead beach (not suitable for swimming) and pretty local Church, dating back to the 11th Century.

Continue on the path and you will pass Quarr Abbey which takes its name from the limestone quarries where William the Conqueror commissioned for the stone to be used to construct Winchester Cathedral, then subsequently Chichester Cathedral, Romsey Abbey and even parts of The Tower of London.

The Abbey is a must visit, with its own art gallery, wonderful walled garden and tea room, which uses the organic produce grown by the monks. If its sandy beaches you are looking for, The Schoolhouse is a very short distance from Ryde where you can enjoy a day by the seaside, which offers something for everyone, with its wide sandy golden beaches, miles of shoreline all the way to Seaview, marina, boating lake, indoor swimming pool with an opening roof for those sunny days, bowling alley, mini golf course, cinema and amusement arcades.

Ryde also has a host of restaurants offering food to suit all tastes. Osborne House, holiday home to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and one of the Island's English Heritage sites is a short 10 minute drive from The Schoolhouse.

Queen Victoria said of Osborne House 'It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot".

Osborne House is now famous as the backdrop for the film 'Victoria and Abdul' starring Judy Dench. Binstead has its own golf course and local horse riding stables both open to visitors.

If you are keen on activity there a beautiful country walks and cycle paths that will take you across the Island.

A lovely holiday cottage, perfectly located for year-round enjoyment.
