  • "Quirky place which was fun."

  • "It is in a beautiful and peaceful location with several lovely walks from the property."

The Granary itself was an interesting, historic building sympathetically restored.

  • "What a lovely stay we had here."

So quiet and the Granary is just so relaxing! Lots of lovely touches and a lovely unexpected surprise: a small private field attached with rabbits playing.

  • "Lovely little 'cottage'."

Felt like hobbits as the beams are quite low so you need to duck a lot, but that didn't detract from our stay. Probably the best thing about our stay is the place was so quiet and yet walking distance to a good pub, and lots of good walks on our doorstep. Great place to unwind.

  • "Lovely quiet location, beautiful barn conversion using lots of reclaimed and new oak."

We had a lovely break! We felt the kitchen area was a little basic compared to some other properties we have stayed in locally.

The property

Bosham 2.0 miles. This authentic and rustic property stands tall surrounded by beautiful countryside and fields, offering a unique place for a couple to rest up for a romantic break.

The Granary is a restored heritage building, now decked out with homely furniture and appliances for a self-catered stay, it benefits from simple but stylish décor within the natural wood beamed walls and ceilings.

Enter into this unusual place to stay and be welcomed into the open-plan living space, where a charming sitting area sits at the rear amidst an electric wood-burning-stove effect fire and a TV/DVD, perfect for quiet evening entertainment as you snuggle up on one of the two sofas.

Moving further in, notice the catering style kitchen, stripped bare of the normal units and fittings you would see in a modern kitchen, this space enjoys a mix of stainless steel and plenty of blue appliances set against the wood-beamed backdrop, containing everything you need to cook up a wonderful romantic meal for two.

Enjoy dining at the dining table opposite with enough seats for two more, so if you have friends in the area, perhaps invite them round to see this amazing place for themselves.

Head up the open-tread stairs to the first floor, where an open-plan bedroom space has a double bed, dressing table and hanging space, a simple but effective setup, with a window that holds lovely, uninterrupted views out across the fields and to Bosham Creek in the distance beyond.

Across the way is the bathroom, which holds a bath with a hand-held shower, so you can enjoy a hot soak at the end of the day before you crawl under the covers and rest for the next day ahead.

Spend time out in the immediate garden with seating and where on summer days you can enjoy an evening drink in the sun.

The surrounding area offers so much to do, you can head down to nearby Cobnor Point by following the coastal path where there are views across to the Isle of Wight; observe the local marine life within Chichester Harbour or enjoy a spot of fishing.

Guided tours are available to navigate the harbour and see the best of the area, while the beaches offer lovely spots to set up camp on a sunny day.

Chichester with its Georgian architecture and award winning theatre is very nearby.

Being within easy reach of the South Downs National Park with miles of routes and trails to explore whether walking, running or cycling, The Granary offers a comfortable haven within this historic building, perfect for a romantic break with your loved one.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £75.

About the location

CHIDHAM, BETWEEN BOSHAM AND SOUTHBOURNE, WEST SUSSEX

Bosham 2.0 miles, Southbourne 2 miles, Chichester 4.0 miles; Emsworth 5.5 miles.

In the western part of West Sussex settled underneath the beautiful and vast South Downs National Park is the lovely village of Chidham. Chidham is a rural community with its peninsular protruding into Chichester Harbour. Chidham lies equidistance between Bosham to the east and Southbourne to the West. Southbourne has its history in the flour mills business with four being present in this small area of Sussex at one time, the surrounding countryside makes for wonderful crop fields for farmers. Nowadays the village is home to a Tesco Express and a Co-Op, as well as Southbourne Farm Shop, so you have a good choice of places to pick up the essentials, with the chance to sample locally sourced ingredients from the farm shop. Enjoy a refreshing drink at the end of the day in the village pub, The Traveller's Joy, serving classic dishes and real ales, with more selection in the village of Emsworth just a little further west. Bosham in the opposite direction is steeped with history with connections to Bayeaux and of course King Canute. Bosham has an array of craft shops to visit near the water’s edge and three pubs. Chidham itself has two pubs the nearest to the Granary being the Old House at Home which is a mere 0.3 miles to walk to.
This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offers access to beautiful countryside and Chichester Harbour and is ideal for walkers, cyclists, bird lovers, anglers or simply observing the local wildlife and scenery.
