  • "The house was lovely."

.very clean..everything I needed.. only issue was the sofas.. they are not the sofas that are pictured on the website when I booked.. they were tiny and so uncomfortable.. you cannot relax on them they need replacing to comfortably fit 8 people... also the shower has cracked tiles and was mouldy.. that also needs repairing... other than that it was an enjoyable stay..

Hi Jacqui, Lovely to hear you enjoyed your stay at Wheatlands and thank you for your feedback. The sofas were replaced with new ones last summer due to wear and tear and to provide a more contemporary feel. These were intended to also provide comfort for guests, so I was surprised and sorry to hear that these did not meet your expectations, so thank you for letting me know. We will ensure adequate cushions are provided and additional seating is available for the comfort of future guests. Best Regards Chris and Lene Property Owner

  • "Brilliant family stay at wheatlands, would definitely recommend to others and would absolutely love to return in summer months to take advantage of the garden and the super close beach."

Arriving at the house it was super clean you could even smell the freshly washed bedding. Not sure if it was all from the owner or some previous guests but there was lots of extra things there, toilet rolls, cleaning sprays, bin bags, dishwasher tabs, tea bags, sugar ect. We stayed for new year and they even had small touches like Christmas decorations up. Loved it. Any minor issues we had was dealt with very promptly and I couldn’t fault that at all. The following is in no way any complaint and would never stop us staying but purely to help for future stays. My only changes would be slightly bigger sofas or extra chair in the living room as 8 of us felt a tad cosy on the sofas, extra space for clothes in the cabin and the downstairs bathroom shower could do with removing some mould build up on tiles, all toilet brush’s to be changed. Id also say there is THREE bathrooms and FOUR toilets. Thanks for a brilliant stay and any help provided we had a great time and I will definitely be positively recommending to others. I’m sure this is a beautiful stay in the summer.

Hi Tanya, We were delighted to hear you all enjoyed your stay at Wheatlands over the New Year and you are of course very welcome to come back in the summer and enjoy the beaches:) Many Thanks for the review and helpful feedback. Lene and Chris. Property Owner

  • "Pros, The annex is really great, well set up."

The house is very clean and bright, the beds are very comfortable, and the kitchen is well-equipped. cons, One of the two bedrooms upstairs has no wardrobe and no hanging space for clothes, plenty of draws to put things in, I had to hang my clothes in someone else's wardrobe in another room, which is not good. the main bathroom toilet is hard to flush, you need both hands to push the button, no blinds over the window, and cannot use the shower over the bath as there isn't a shower curtain. the other bedroom upstairs has to use the downstairs shower, which has no slip mat, and the floor is very slippery with the tiled floor. The lounge could do with curtains or blinds as the sun shines right into your face through the large windows/ doors, you really needed the option to pull some blinds or curtains over. Parking for 3 cars, well I drove in forward, and when I came out I had to do about a 6-point turn to get out to the road. The road has one side parking only so as you come out onto the street there are cars parked on either side of the drive and you cannot see what is coming down the Road. When our daughter and her husband joined us, having 2 cars in the garden side by side made it even more tricky getting out, and when we went out one day and returned to find a skip in the front garden, it wasn't very helpful, we had no warning that a skip might arrive, we left one car outside. I really don't like leaving reviews like this but I felt that I should point out these things. Oh, and there are Rats in the garden running around with apples in their mouths. Sorry for this part on negative feedback.

Hi Raymond, Great to hear you found the beds so comfortable and the house bright, clean and well equipped. We do hope you enjoyed your stay at Wheatlands and had a safe journey home. Thank you also for your feedback as we truly desire for every guest to have the best experience. To address the items you have raised; our preference was for no wardrobe in the second bedroom to provide maximum space and ambience for guests, however having taken on board your feedback, this bedroom now has an open frame available with clothes hangers for hanging of clothes - thank you. The ensuite with the bath is not intended for showers, hence no shower curtain (there are 2 showers available elsewhere within the property), I have now moved the bracket down for the shower next to the bath and the room has privacy glass which is our preference to blinds. There is a foot mat available for the downstairs shower, which I have ensured is in place for future guests. With regards to the lounge, the room is not overlooked and whilst I respect your view it is our personal preference to keep the room light and open with clean lines without curtains in front of the bi-fold doors. The driveway cannot be enlarged further and the hedge provides privacy which is a slight trade off with the ease of parking but it does fit 3 family sized cars comfortably, guests are welcome to park on the street (with no parking restrictions) if they prefer or struggle with parking, there is also an electric charger available for guests to use at the house opposite. In relation to the skip; I do apologise for the inconvenience as unfortunately out of my control this arrived earlier than had been booked in for and I was not notified that it had been delivered. The skip was required to build a pergola area for guests in the garden which has now been completed. Thank you for raising the rodents, as we were unaware of this, the fallen fruit following the stormy weather must have attracted them which has all been removed and the problem has now been properly dealt with. Also just to say that we are also always available to guests and most happy to help with any queries or questions throughout your stay. All The Best Lene and Chris Property Owner

  • "Very sparse for wardrobe space."

Bath in upstairs bathroom not use able as water goes everywhere, no slip mats so very slippery.

Hello Carol. Thank you for the feedback and hope you enjoyed your stay. The wardrobe space in the master bedroom is hidden within magnetic doors, I apologise if this was not discovered and will make this clearer for future guests. The bath was really intended for baths with 2 showers provided elsewhere within the property, hence no shower curtain surrounding the bath or slip matt for standing on. I will however procure a slip matt for future guests in any case. All the Best Lene and Chris. Property Owner

  • "A fabulous place to stay - peaceful & quiet surroundings, comfortable beds - definitely recommend."

An easy short walk to the stoney beach with a lovely circular walk to the Marina. Billy track a super circular walk with great views of the harbour & old railway bridge. The kitchen overall is super, there’s plenty of pots/pans & frying pans but little in the way of casserole dishes/roasting trays big enough to cater for 8. We made do & managed but if you enjoy cooking & plan to cook for your stay, would recommend bringing items you’d normally use. Clever use of magnetic doors to reveal wardrobe & chest of drawers in the spacious upstairs bedroom. A note for the owner - the en suite toilet flush mechanism in the upstairs bedroom with the bath is incredibly hard to use. A sign or note to explain how to make it flush properly would be helpful. In the Annexe, there’s a popping sound from the drain overnight - maybe needs checking out? Not gripes, hopefully just helpful comments to consider. Thanks for making your place available :)

Hi Annemarie. Lovely to hear you enjoyed your stay at Wheatlands and Hayling Island. Thank you also for the helpful feedback, I have now added a large caserole dish in the kitchen for future guests and a sign in the ensuite. Kind Regards Chris and Lene. Property Owner

The cabin at the bottom of the garden was a great space for a couple & the garden was a sun trap. The house is so close to the beach we had a walk along the sea front every day. There are lots of local take aways & we made great use of the barbecue. We felt so relaxed & would definitely book again. So very peaceful & relaxing

  • "A nice open plan house for a stay with the family."

We slept in the cabin, leaving the bedrooms in the house to our daughter and grandchildren and this worked well. If visiting with toddlers, you'll need to take your own high chair, travel cot and stair gate. The house is perfectly located a short walk from the beach where we spent much of our time. We hadn't been to Hayling Island before and were surprised at the lack of beach front cafés and shops nearby - it's more like a normal residential area next to the sea.

  • "The property had not been cleaned we had to clean it our self, food left in fridge/freezer , cupboards, no bins in kitchen and bathroom had been emptied ,shower in 1 en-suite unable to use as no shower curtain, table and floors had not been wiped over."

Both external bins were over flowing, on the Monday the refuse collectors refused to empty recycling bin as previous occupants had put glass in this bin.We were informed on at least 3 separate occasions that the cleaner would come to the property this never happened. It was such a shame this occurred because had the property been cleaned throughout the feed back would have been completely different

Hello Anthony Whilst the property had been cleaned, the standard was unacceptable much to my disappointment and surprise. I of course want every guest to have the best experience and sincerely apologise. The owner of the cleaning company has now also spoken to you to apologise and understands the issues in detail and these have now been addressed for future guests. Kind Regards Chris Property Owner

My grandaughter was crying when she saw a dead fish in the pond as soon as we arrived.

Good Evening Jane, The property is a weekly rental and priced as such by Sykes, you would have been very welcome to have extended your stay longer than the 2 days you booked. Regards Chris Property Owner

  • "Lovely property and perfect location for meeting up with my sister."

Bed mattresses and pillows really comfy, thank you. It was really helpful having oil, salt, pepper etc there already too. Would be good to have a vacuum that stayed on for longer than 30 seconds so we could vacuum up sand and dog hair. Also the shower drains were a bit slow in draining away. The ensuite bath upstairs should have a note in your book to say to use it only for rinsing the bath, as I used it once as a shower (sat in the bath) and felt dreadful as water went everywhere! The dishwasher works fine but finishes its cycle on an error message. I just want to clarify, these are not complaints, but just some things that the owner may want to look at as they may cause a problem in the future. Thank you for a lovely stay.

  • "Thank you for a wonderful stay in such a lovely house."

My two granddaughters absolutely loved the space of the lovely garden..and of course loved the fish. This is the first time at 'Wheatlands' and Hayling Island, and we loved both. The space and openness of the house is a real wow factor and it is beautifully decorated and extremely well equipped. Everything was immaculately clean, including the bed linen and towels and the beds very comfortable. Thought had been given to even the smallest detail and it was ideal for every member of my family. We had wonderful weather during our stay and I would highly recommend Wheatlands, which we will hopefully return to again in the future. Thank you again.
