We keep coming year after year! It's a great location for visiting all that the New Forest has to offer. Very cosy and friendly atmosphere, provided by the onsite owner (Sue) and her adorable dog (Boris). We start to relax as soon as we open the door.

  • "Really lovely little cottage, with a beautiful garden full of butterflies!"

Well equipped kitchen, good shower and comfortable beds. The owner Sue is one of the nicest ladies I have ever met, who is so kind and friendly. Boris, Sue's little dog is an absolute joy, he made me smile every day. The only downside was the heating let us down on cold mornings. Although Sue did all she could to get the radiators hot, it still failed. Perfect location for Hatchett Pond where we were lucky enough to spot lapwings, great egret, muted swans, swifts, oyster catchers and many species of dragonflies and damselflies! Seeing the ponies, cattle and donkeys every day was a dream. Beautiful area in the new forest and would definitely recommend a visit.

As well as walking, we visited Lymington, Lyndhurst, Hurst Castle, Blackwater Arboretum. We were extremely lucky with the weather - 7 days of no rain! Also, we were kindly allowed to use the boiler room to dry some of our kayak and bike kit. Kitchen facilities great - so saved a lot of money and hassle finding places to eat out. Great farm shop 10 minute walk away. Having said that, we enjoyed the 20 minute walk to the nearest pub with huge food portions and crackling fireplace (taking lights to guide and protect us on the road)

There are often ponies and donkeys right outside the gate. Walking into Beaulieu takes about 20 minutes, and although there is a footpath for most of the way, there are small parts of road walking with no pavement (there is a grass verge). The cottage itself has everything you need and is very comfortable, we felt totally relaxed and slept better than we have done for years. The cottage is like an upside down house with the kitchen downstairs and the living room, bedroom and bathroom upstairs. There is a rather steep set of stairs going upstairs and rather risking spilling a cup of tea on the stairs we for the most part 'lived in the kitchen' which was fine only going upstairs later in the evening.
