  • "Another very comfortable stay at this cottage."

We particularly appreciate the secure parking and enjoyed the daily visits from Boris, the owners little dog. The owner is always on hand should you experience any issues with the property. Plenty to see and do in the area.

  • "We loved the location with direct access to the forest, and to lots of interesting places in Hampshire."

The views were wonderful. The landlady lent us her parking permit which was useful. However we were very disappointed with the accommodation. The cottage was very cold on arrival, looked tired, with old carpets, curtains, and a blind in the kitchen which fell apart. The bedroom in particular was unwelcoming. The bedding was old, the mattresses and bed base equally old and stained, and the whole room had an unpleasant musty odour. We had no WiFi until Monday evening, when we were finally given the code. You would expect a welcome pack, but there was none. We noticed there was a leak under the kitchen sink, and had to use the washing up bowl to collect the waste water. We reported this, but nothing was done. We cannot believe that this is a 3 tick accommodation!

Well equipped kitchen, good shower and comfortable beds. The owner Sue is one of the nicest ladies I have ever met, who is so kind and friendly. Boris, Sue's little dog is an absolute joy, he made me smile every day. The only downside was the heating let us down on cold mornings. Although Sue did all she could to get the radiators hot, it still failed. Perfect location for Hatchett Pond where we were lucky enough to spot lapwings, great egret, muted swans, swifts, oyster catchers and many species of dragonflies and damselflies! Seeing the ponies, cattle and donkeys every day was a dream. Beautiful area in the new forest and would definitely recommend a visit.

Also, we were kindly allowed to use the boiler room to dry some of our kayak and bike kit. Kitchen facilities great - so saved a lot of money and hassle finding places to eat out. Great farm shop 10 minute walk away. Walking into Beaulieu takes about 20 minutes, and although there is a footpath for most of the way, there are small parts of road walking with no pavement (there is a grass verge). The cottage itself has everything you need and is very comfortable, we felt totally relaxed and slept better than we have done for years. The New Forest itself is the country's smallest national park, boasting 150 square miles of magnificent woodland, and swathes of heather and bracken covered heath land, dotted with picturesque villages, frequented by herds of wild ponies, cattle and deer. The forest is intersected by well marked paths, ideal for walking and cycling, and with easy access to both stunning Exbury Gardens as well the Isle of Wight ferries from nearby Lymington, this super area provides an idyllic holiday destination.
