  • "The house was lovely and spacious and perfect for our party of 3 adults and 1 dog."

Kitchen was wel stocked with plenty of plates, utensils etc. All of the seating was comfy and good quality. Garden was secure and nicely maintained which was a must for us. We didn't need to use the third bedroom with the double/bunk but it is a tight squeeze getting in and out if you did want to use it. Overall the property was great value for money. There were plenty of others in the area with less living space so we were very happy with what we got here. The street was generally really quiet and the town centre is easily walkable, a friendly neighbour even put the bin out for us.

  • "Spacious property with off road parking but that's as good as it got , very run down area."

The property could do with some serious TLC. Tatty scuffed paint work which hasn't had a lick of paint for some time, ingrained dirt ,no extractor or window in upstairs toilet. On arrival we kept getting white hair on our feet from downstairs so had to hoover. Garden was run down , didn't use it as over looked from all sides . Nieghbour on right had conservatory full of old mattresses which was the view from the seating area. Was going to put our bikes in the shed but it was full of stuff and locked. Seems like a rush job to rent out and property from house shoved in shed. Duvet covers clean but stained.Misleading photos on line. Quite a lot of money for us as a family. Photo evidence if needed. Still enjoyed the Isle of wight as a holiday destination , beautiful beaches and countryside.

Thank you for your feedback, I wish you had given me the opportunity to resolve any issues straight away for you as I am always on hand to speak to. We have a gardener that comes in once a week and takes great pride in their work and this is not something that we have told before. The shed is not part of the listing and if you needed external storage you could have contacted me to sort something out. We cannot control what happens in neighbouring properties so I can only apologise if this was not to your liking. The road is full of professional people and in our opinion is quite the opposite of a run-down area. I can only apologise for the issues that you have stated, it is a shock as we have not had this feedback before but appreciate you taking the time to make us aware. Property Owner

  • "A well situated holiday venue near to the town of Ryde and all its sea side facilities."

With the aid of Santav we were able to visit all the Island places familiar to us from our youth. The property was spacious and comfortable, probably more suited to a larger family.we were cautioned that the stairs to the bedrooms were steep, and they were! The shower unit failed, only giving cold water, but we managed using the shower head in the bath, so it did not deter from having a great holiday with good weather.

  • "Great location."

Cleaner than expected after reading previous reviews but still room for improvement as there were dirty tissues and dirt under the beds which I have reported to the owner. Beds comfortable. Plenty of games provided which gave us evening entertainment. Despite saying "Ample off road parking" there was only space for one car and had to park the other one wherever we could find a space, sometimes around the corner. The garden furniture was ideal for eating outside or just chilling after spending long days exploring the island. Grass area may not be suitable if you have small children as it is a lot higher than the patio and is accessed by a plastic step. Considering the price paid some kitchen utensils and bedroom furniture could do with updating otherwise okay. Had a good holiday with the family.

  • "Property needed a good deep clean."

Shower was slow drain so left dirt behind. Bed had poor quality mattress. Frozen food left in freezer from previous occupant.

I was not aware of any of these issues, I wish you had brought them to my attention whilst you were there so that I could have looked to rectify these problems. I am sorry with regards to the bed, unfortunately bed comfort is subjective and this is a top quality mattress. Property Owner

  • "We have just returned from Dovedale and can not speak more highly of it."

The house was clean, fully equipped and comfortable. There is also a barbecue in the garden which should be added to the list of facilities. The owner was also very kind in telling us how everything worked. We (including our 12 and 15 year old children who like most people of their age are more critical than most!) will definitely be returning!!

  • "The holiday home was lovely and I really think you should “big up” the garden as it is south facing and a proper sun trap."

We spent lots of time in this space. We appreciated the courtesy call from the owner on the Sunday and the “welcome pack” left. A nice touch. Two things slightly let it down: 1. The cleaning. I would check up on the cleaners as I do not think they are very thorough. Kitchen units and splash backs had food splatter marks on them, there were cobwebs in both bathrooms and dust on many of the shelving units. 2. The curtains in the front bedroom are not ideal. The property front faces east and because the curtains are not lined/backed the light woke us up at 5:30am every morning. Brilliant when you want to go to work not brilliant on holiday. Overall, a lovely home in a nice location in Ryde.

We happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Dovedale and spent lots of time in our lovely garden. We are however, sorry to heat that you were disappointed with the cleaning of the property, if you had made us aware of this during your stay we would have been able to ask our cleaners to re-attend. • "The property itself was fantastic, with a new extension that we weren't aware of and it was a lovely bright space."

Also great location in a very quiet street but near to the town and beaches. Because it was so lovely, disappointed to have to mention the low standard of cleanliness, particularly in the current climate We had to buy bleach to clean the upstairs toilet as it was very stained. There was a good level of surface clean but as time went on, we discovered a lot of dust, etc in the crevices that had been there a long time. Also, had to wash some of the glasses before using. Assume the owner uses cleaners, so she may want to take it up with them. We did look up some reviews whilst there and saw that the cleanliness has been mentioned in previous reviews, but clearly no action taken.

  • "The accommodation was lovely with a fantastic new extension downstairs."

Great location, great for families. Unfortunately the level of cleanliness let the accommodation down. The whole house needed a deep clean. We had to clean the bathrooms before we could use the shower & bath, the house didn’t look like it had been dusted for a while. We called the owner who was apologetic and have advised she looks at getting new cleaners.

There was a lovely big extension that we weren't expecting when we arrived! The property owner called to check that we had arrived ok and to leave their contact details in case we needed anything during our stay. The welcome bottle of wine was nice too! We would stay here again.

!! but on saying those few negatives there were many points that were good, it is a good base to see the island there secure garden was lovely for our 3 legged pouch it was a sun trap also all in all we had a lovely relaxing break thank you

  • "I have only said met expectations because the owner contacted me before we left home to advise towels are not supplied as stated in the details."

The wood burner is not a wood burner, it's an electric imitation. General cleanliness was not up to scratch, lots of hair on the floor of the toilet upstairs, had to wash most utensils before use as they appeared grubby, and the plastic dish drier on the draining board was very soiled, had to put it through the dishwasher before use. Other than that a general dusting would not have gone a miss. Availability of a hoover would be good. Welcome pack ?, a bottle of red wine ?, most other places we have stayed at with Sykes have boasted a personal hand written note with general information and where to find things + a loaf of bread, orange juice etc, and a couple of other bits and bobs. However, a pleasant property in what we found to be a quiet location and good base for days out of which we had plenty.

Thank you for your feedback, I had asked for you to contact me with any issues. we would of been more that happy to send the cleaners back to do another clean if this was needed. I always provide my number for guests to contact me directly. I would of liked the opportunity to resolve the issues. Property Owner
