“This house exceeded all our expectations.”

It was the perfect house in the perfect setting and perfect location. ...

It was the perfect house in the perfect setting and perfect location. The only negative points, that would potentially affect us rebooking were as follows; *There was 1 bedroom that was so hot due to a massive hot water tank in the cupboard. This room was unusable as a bedroom and we consequently had to create a bedroom for 2 children in one of the sitting rooms downstairs. * Also, the other bedroom adjacent to the one mentioned above had the boiler/pump for the hot water tank directly underneath it in the kitchen. This would start up at very regular intervals 24 hours a day. It would run for a few minutes then cut out. It would then start up a few minutes later. This happened all day and night. This made it impossible to be used by anyone except some children as they tend to sleep more heavily. Aside from these problems, the week we spent at Abbots Wood was amazing. The kids (and adults) loved the pool. There was plenty of room and social areas so it never seemed crowded. The bar area was brilliant for relaxing and having a few drinks once the kids were in bed. It was close to the beach which the dogs loved, and beautiful Netley Abbey. It was comfortable and well equipped for large groups.

The property

This stunning property is situated in an exclusive, gated development, within 100 acres of conservation woodland, in the delightful southern Hampshire village of Netley Abbey, four miles from Southampton.

This impressive, detached residence is set in three acres of grounds, complete with a lake and an indoor heated swimming pool.

This amazing house offers visitors spacious and luxurious accommodation, ideal for a large family gathering or a group of friends seeking a holiday property with the 'wow' factor!

With its chic, boutique-style furnishings and bright and airy, spacious rooms throughout, it is sure to impress.

All five bedrooms have access to en-suite facilities, one of which features a Jacuzzi bath.

Each of the four upstairs bedrooms has its own balcony which overlooks the wooded garden and lake, while the two sitting rooms, the dining room and the ground floor kitchen all have French doors which open out onto the patio.

This lovely outdoor space is the perfect place to socialise and dine alfresco in the summer sunshine.

The icing on the cake however, is the sensational indoor heated swimming pool, set within its own impressive pool room, and a shower in the adjoining utility.

Once you’ve swam and dried off, take the stairs up to the mezzanine area which overlooks the pool.

There is a bar at one end where you can help yourself to a drink, a kitchen with fully-fitted appliances at the other and French doors opening out onto a balcony!

Should you tire of the pool, take a stroll down to the lake where you can fish for carp, or simply watch the antics of the ducks and the moorhens.

Locally, you can enjoy walks through the Royal Victoria Country Park, or explore the ruins of Netley Abbey, a 13th century Cistercian monastery.

What better way to explore this wonderful area than with a stay in this incredible property, offering visitors the most amazing Hampshire holiday experience!

About the location

NETLEY ABBEY

Hamble-le-Rice 3.5 miles; Southampton 4 miles.

This diverse, south Hampshire village is located on the eastern shores of Southampton Water, beside the Royal Victoria Country Park. The village takes its name from the 13th century Cistercian monastery there, its well-preserved ruins still remaining today. The heart of the village retains some of its traditional charm and is proud of its waterside heritage, with ample opportunities for sailing in the nearby village of Hamble-le-Rice. Nearby, The Royal Victoria Country Park was the site of The Royal Victoria Hospital, the first purpose-built military hospital. Now, all that remains is the hospital chapel and 200 acres of wood and parkland. There are lovely walks to explore and a variety of wildlife, as well as spectacular views from the top of the 150 foot chapel tower across Southampton Water, one of the busiest shipping canals in the country. Together with its beautiful setting, tea rooms and a narrow gauge railway, the park provides visitors with a fascinating day out. Netley lies within very easy reach of Southampton and its impressive range of attractions. There is an easy drive to the New Forest, as well as Portsmouth's historic dockyard, home to the magnificent HMS Victory, and Gunwharf Quays, a retail outlet perched on the waterside. This south Hampshire waterside village is a convenient base from which to explore this fascinating area.
