  • “Lovely accommodation that was very well equipped and left beautifully clean.”

Good location. I found the mattress on the double bed very hard/uncomfortable.

The property

Boasting far-reaching views across the Solent and towards Spinnaker Tower is this delightful beach bungalow, Buddleia Cottage.

Resting in a peaceful corner of Seaview resort, this all-ground-floor accommodation is the ideal base for a family in pursuit of a traditional coastal holiday on the Isle of Wight.

Soak up the views and sunshine from the south-facing patio before stepping into the open-plan living room, acting as a wonderful social base in which to gather after an action-packed day.

The kitchen is compact, yet well-equipped with everything you will require for a self-catered stay, perfect for trying your hand at some local delicacies or simply packing up a picnic for the next day’s afternoon at the beach.

Once breakfast, lunch or dinner is ready, settle down at the dining table to relish in some much needed catch-up time with your loved ones.

Relax and unwind into your evening by getting cosy on the sofa and flicking on the electric fire for an extra bit of warmth during the cooler months, and the TV with DVD player for the evening’s entertainment.

Once the family favourite film has finished, catch your rest within one of the two bedrooms, comprising of a double bedroom and a single bedroom, together sleeping up to three people and served by a wet room.

To the outside, the property benefits from a south and west facing patio area, ensuring that you get the best of the sun throughout the day, and table and chairs offer an alternative space for dining.

Guests are welcome to make use of the large communal lawn area, a perfect spot for lunching or younger guests to play, or take a short stroll to the nearby nature reserve for some bird-watching.

Venture into the village of Seaview to enjoy the extensive views across the sea and Solent, where you will also find highly regarded places to eat, from fine dining restaurants, quaint cafés and gastro pubs, as well as a shop for picking up the essentials.

During the summer months, head to the beach of Springvale for some panoramic sea views and you will also find Puckpool Park, home to tennis courts, mini-golf and a children’s play area.

If you are feeling more active, head to Seagrove beach, which has glorious sands and is popular for swimming and other watersport activities.

Alternatively, travel to the nearby seaside town of Ryde, where you will be spoilt for choice by the selection of boutique shops, museums and galleries for you to explore.

Walk along the esplanade for some great family entertainment, home to a fun-fair, Superbowl and LaserQuest, or continue along the seafront to Ryde’s beaches for laze on the sands.

About the location

Ryde 2.6 miles.

Seaview is a small Edwardian seaside village on the north eastern shores of the Isle of Wight, only a 15 minute drive from the superb transport links of Ryde. Seaview is one of the South of England’s most famous holiday destinations, with a reputation of being an upmarket resort. This lovely seaside resort has stunning views out across the Solent, gorgeous golden sandy beaches, a sailing club, boutique shops and many popular restaurants and pubs, such as The Seaview Hotel and The Old Fort. On the coastal footpath towards Ryde just off Springvale is Puckpool Park, an old Victorian Fortification Battery, now with tennis courts, mini-golf and a children’s play area set within its pretty gardens. In the summer, locals and tourists take part in the famous Seaview Regatta, competing in many traditional activities, with races on the beach at Seagrove Bay, rowing in the village’s own unique boats, tug of war, the greasy pole and diving, all concluded at the end of the week with a magnificent firework display. As well as being a coastal village the nearby countryside at Seaview’s Duver is a nature reserve, with frequent visits from the beautiful red squirrel, as well as having an incredible array of bird life. A wonderful Isle of Wight base.
