  • "The property is well laid out ,in a good location and exactly as shown in the photos."

    What lets this property down is the lack of care and maintenance it receives. The carpet in the main living area is very dirty as was the shower cubicle around the door tracks. Other items such as frayed carpets and greasy oven racks add to the impression that the property is not cared for. If these items are address the property has the potential to achieve its 4 or 5 star ratings.

  • "This is the first time for over 40 years on the Isle of Wight and we loved it."

    Loved the cottage and the location it was all really comfortable. We had our two dogs with us and so the enclosed garden worked perfectly. There were lots of little extras in the cottage that we don't normally get which the made the stay even better. I would recommend this cottage.

  • "This is a great bungalow in a good location but needs some attention in various areas."

    We stayed for 2 weeks so booked this property as it had a washing machine. Unfortunately I couldn't use it as there was a really bad smell coming from it. Clearly not been used in a while, made worse by the fact the door was left shut. Tried to rinse it through a couple of times but didn't make any difference. The cleanliness of the kitchen left a lot to be desired. The work surfaces had crumbs on them and the inside and outside of the fridge were dirty. Had to give it a good clean before using it. None of the plugs in the sinks keep the water from draining out. Why are there no curtains in the twin bedded room? Flimsy blinds at the window do not block out the daylight at 5am in the morning this time of the year! I also echo a previous comment about the mould in the bathroom. Putting ornaments in front of it to try and hide it doesn't work! Every surface on the bedside cupboards and the dining table were dirty. I have photos of brown dirt coming off them. As I said, nice property but expect it to be cleaned to a higher standard.

    I am sorry you did not enjoy your holiday at Orchard Road. I have been liaising with our cleaners and I am assured they are addressing the items in your review and they will also be airing the washing machine on changeover as much as they can. The silicone in the bathroom will be replaced in our next maintenance window. With regard to curtains in the twin room, as there may be children sleeping in that room and the head of one of the beds would be close to any curtain, it was considered a risk to have them. I appreciate they would be preferable in this weather but the pictures of the property clearly show there aren’t any curtains in that room. Property Owner

  • "This is a lovely bungalow in an ideal place for exploring the island, however it was let down by some cleanliness issues ie dirty pillows & mattresses with staining, shower was not clean , shower mat was going black, toilet brush had black mold on as it was rubber, shower hose was dirty."

    There was a stain on the living room carpet. Maintenance wise some door handles were badly worn & stiff, the bathroom one actually fell apart. The equipment in the kitchen was lacking in oven gloves & some of the utensils were in bits in the draw . There was a fan in the conservatory that was missing the front & the base was cracked. Fingers could have easily been put into the blades. It is such a shame that this is the case as we enjoyed everything else about the property.

  • "14 Orchard Road was a lovely bungalow set on a very quiet street in a good location for exploring the island."

    The front garden was beautifully planted and the rear courtyard garden the perfect place to sit and relax anytime of day but especially in the evening. The kitchen was well equipped and there was plenty of hot water for showers. The village store was a 5 minute walk and Tesco 3 miles by car. Overall a nice relaxing week in comfortable surroundings during the hottest week so far this year!

  • "A well-presented bungalow (extended with a conservatory) with a nice garden at the front and side and a large enclosed patio at the rear (good for keeping dogs safe)."

    Located in a very quiet area, with a sea view around the corner (within a 10-minute walk to a lovely secluded beach at Seagrove Bay), a 5-mins walk to a Nisa shop, and 10-mins drive to Ryde. A great choice.

  • "Had a lovely break the bungalow was nice and clean on arrival with fresh linen and towels."

    A fantastic quiet location within a short drive to the seafront. Fully equipped kitchen although we ate out at the local pubs mainly. Local co-op village stores just around the corner. Nice enclosed secure rear patio area for the dog to chill out and our breakfast in the morning.

  • "The bungalow was lovely, spacious and clean."

    Home from home. Comfortable beds. Tea bags, coffee and biscuits were a nice touch. Located on a nice quiet street. It was a 15 minute walk to the beach. The only negative was the sofa and chairs weren't comfortable.

SEAVIEW

Ryde 2.6 miles.

Seaview is a small Edwardian seaside village on the north eastern shores of the Isle of Wight, only a 15 minute drive from the superb transport links of Ryde. Seaview is one of the South of England’s most famous holiday destinations, with a reputation of being an upmarket resort. This lovely seaside resort has stunning views out across the Solent, gorgeous golden sandy beaches, a sailing club, boutique shops and many popular restaurants and pubs, such as The Seaview Hotel and The Old Fort. On the coastal footpath towards Ryde just off Springvale is Puckpool Park, an old Victorian Fortification Battery, now with tennis courts, mini-golf and a children’s play area set within its pretty gardens. In the summer, locals and tourists take part in the famous Seaview Regatta, competing in many traditional activities, with races on the beach at Seagrove Bay, rowing in the village’s own unique boats, tug of war, the greasy pole and diving, all concluded at the end of the week with a magnificent firework display. As well as being a coastal village the nearby countryside at Seaview’s Duver is a nature reserve, with frequent visits from the beautiful red squirrel, as well as having an incredible array of bird life. A wonderful Isle of Wight base.
