The property

Somerton Farm is an incredibly spacious detached property next to the owner’s working livestock farm, in Northwood on the Isle of Wight.

Perfectly situated for exploring the woodland and fields close by, this cottage is a real paradise for all the family.

The property offers tranquillity without being totally remote, ideally situated for all members of the family as access to the town of Cowes is so easy yet you feel that you are in the middle of the countryside.

Entering the large communal courtyard with beautiful stone barn on your right and traditional stables, Somerton Farm really impresses with its cheery exterior and ample off road parking.

There are four large bedrooms with views over the field and courtyard.

Somerton Farm offers flexible accommodation for family and friends alike.

One bedroom benefits from a king-size bed with an en-suite shower room and tranquil farmland views.

There are two twin bedrooms, an impressive super king-size double and a stylish family bathroom which complete the first floor of this charming cottage.

Downstairs, the well-equipped and spacious kitchen includes a breakfast area seating four and there’s also a bright and airy dining room, perfect for seating all the family for a celebratory meal.

To the right of the entrance hall is the fabulous snug with table football, TV and DVD player and comfy seating, perfect for enjoying a relaxing evening after exploring this lovely area of the Isle of Wight.

The sitting room benefits from a Smart TV, ideal for those in need of some down time.

Outside, the lawned garden is sheltered by a beautiful willow tree and to the rear of the property is a secret wild garden where the children’s imaginations can run free - perfect for hide and seek.

To the right of the entrance there's a gravelled patio area with furniture and a barbecue with views over fields and River Medina.

At the front of the property is a stable to store bikes and outdoor equipment securely at your own risk.

Somerton sits along the edge of the north-west side of the River Medina, between Northwood and West Cowes, on the main cycle path from Cowes to Newport.

If you enjoy the outdoors, you can walk the Cowes to Yarmouth coastal footpath, passing wonderful villages like Gurnard and Newtown and the delightful town of Yarmouth.

Dotted along the route are plenty of lovely places to eat, including The Little Gloster in Gurnard and the Horse and Groom in Hamstead.

Alternatively, simply stay closer to home as there really is something for all the family in Cowes.

This is also a fantastic location for guests that do not drive as the property is very close to the main bus route into Cowes.

For those looking to indulge in some retail therapy, there’s plenty of superb boutique shops and you can dine in style at one of the large selection of restaurants serving international cuisine.

Of course, Cowes has also been called England’s yachting capital and whether you’re taking part or spectating, Cowes is the perfect place to experience this truly exhilarating sport.

The bustling port of Cowes is situated by the mouth of the river Medina, and is divided into two distinct towns, linked by the regular floating bridge chain ferry. Both communities have much to offer visitors, with West Cowes known as a world famous yachting centre, with superb facilities for all kinds of watersports, as well as being considered the cycling gateway to the island with the National Cycle Route 23 running through it. It also has a beach and a wealth of excellent restaurants, inns, and plenty of interesting niche shops; there is something for everyone with a fabulous vibe. East Cowes is best known for Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s Italian style country retreat - a tour of the sumptuous royal apartments and magnificent gardens is a must. Cowes is an ideal base for exploring the rest of the island, such as sandy beaches, lovely walking country, picturesque chines and many family attractions such as the The Needles and the Isle of Wight music festival.
