This delightful thatched cottage is set in countryside just 2.5 miles south of the historic town of Ludlow, on the Shropshire/Herefordshire border.
It is next to the owner’s part-thatched house and both are set in gardens and orchards of over 1.5 acres.
Its elevated position affords views over adjoining countryside and it is perfectly situated for walkers with direct access onto lanes and footpaths linking into the extensive Mortimer Forest nearby.
The cottage itself is light and spacious with high ceilings, exposed beams and a woodburning stove.
French doors open onto a small terrace overlooking the cottage garden with its abundant bird-life.
The open-plan living area comprises a lovely sitting room with warmth and character, a kitchen area and dining table for four people.
A classic walk-in shower on the ground floor serves both bedrooms.
The main, king-size bedroom is on the ground floor, also overlooking the garden.
It is stylishly co-ordinated with bedside tables and lamps, dressing table and ample storage.
An interesting spiral staircase off the sitting room takes you up to the twin bedroom, a pretty mezzanine layout, with views to the parish church and countryside beyond.
This is a memorable holiday choice all-year-round.
Two bedrooms: 1 x ground floor kingsize, 1 x first floor mezzanine twin. Ground floor shower room with walk-in shower, basin and WC. Open-plan sitting room, kitchen and dining area with woodburner.
About the location
Ludlow 2.5 miles; Leominster 7 miles.
The historic, scattered village of Richards Castle lies in the heart of the beautiful South Shropshire countryside, set amidst renowned scenic walking and cycling country. The village's outstanding landmarks are the remaining earthworks and foundations of the pre-Norman Conquest castle; only very few were built during this era. 2.5 miles away is Ludlow, one of the most beautiful towns in Britain. Its medieval street pattern remains almost intact, and provides a fascinating backdrop for the town's regular street markets, held in the shadow of the 13th century castle. Ludlow is renowned for its shopping, and has several good restaurants, as well as tea-shops, pubs and inns. Within easy reach are Church Stretton, Shrewsbury, Leominster and Hereford, as well as popular attractions such as the World Heritage Site at Ironbridge Gorge, Severn Valley Railway, Berrington Hall and the scenic Cardingmill Valley in the Shropshire Hills. A superb destination for a relaxing break.
