It was warm, very clean and there was a bottle of rose waiting for us which was a nice touch. The facilities need to be updated a little, one sofa is broken, the washing machine doesn't work properly, the hot tub water level was low and not as warm or powerful as we would have hoped.

  • "We ( 2 adults 2 children (5 and 11) plus our 2 dogs) had an amazing break at ploony lodge."

The track on approach once you’ve reached the farm is an off road track, my car was ok taking it slow but I wouldn’t advise anyone with lowered suspension as you may have slight problems. The lodge itself is just beautiful and the hosts were fabulous. Wine and eggs greeted us on arrival. The lodge has everything you’ll need to self cater. We arrived with a weeks worth of shopping the fridge freezer is a large double so plenty of room. We had direct access for the dogs and Ourselves to the walks and streams out the back of the lodge, the enclosed garden itself is fabulous. Watching the birds through the kitchen window was lovely. We managed to visit pen y fan, water breaks it’s neck and Aberystwyth to name a few places whilst staying at the lodge itself, be prepared to drive as it’s isolated. We enjoyed fabulous walks around the lodge aswell. An extremely relaxing break made perfect with the added extra of the hot tub on the patio. We will certainly stay here again.

Very peaceful location set in the hills Surrounded by trees with a stream burbling behind. Visits from free range chickens & the sounds of sheep and cows close by. Space outside to play cricket with barbecue area and a Hottub to wind down in. The lodge itself is specced with good quality appliances and is very homely. We had lots of fun and didn’t want to leave. A bottle of rose was waiting is on arrival. Recommend and hope to return one day.

It is really spacious too. You are in quite a remote area so need a car and you have to drive up a long sludgy potholed single track as its on a working farm to reach the lodge which we did not know about so its just worth a mention. The owners are building a new lodge which you can see from Ploony Hill Lodge and that too looks like it is going be lovely.

Is in a quiet secluded spot. The lodge was more than we expected, clean, cosy (underfloor heating) everything you needed. The hot tub was gorgeous to relax in after a day out sightseeing. Was like home from home. Massive american style fridge freezer, Big bath and a separate big shower. Though on a working farm you heard nothing apart from occasional animal noise. Such peaceful dark nights. Would highly recommend this lodge.

The lodge was excellent and had everything in it that you needed for your stay. We travelled with two Greyhounds, one of which doesn't get on with other dogs and this lodge proved perfect for us being completely private. The lodge has a big fully enclosed garden with stunning views over the welsh countryside. Inside the garden you had parking for at least 3 cars, table and chairs and a brilliant addition of a Pizza oven. Definitely take some pizza making foods with you, we used the pizza oven a couple of times and the pizzas were wonderful. You are free to roam the adjoining fields with your dogs and you could easily walk for hours without having to travel anywhere in your car. Darren and Lindsey were always on hand if you needed them and we spoke to Darren most days as he was transporting the lambs into the field next door. If you are into Photography, you will love the clear skies on an evening and the surrounding area. We visited the Gigrin Red Kite Feeding farm and i would definitely recommend it, it was amazing. Lots of places to visit within half an hour drive, Elan Valley & Break Neck Waterfall being two. Overall we had a fantastic holiday and will be returning when we can.

Was just right for 2 adults, 2 kids (11 & 13yrs) and a very active dog - space for the kids to kick a ball about, and for the dog to run around in a fully fenced area. The owner was very welcoming and told us where we could safely take the dog off lead on his land away from sheep. Its very secluded, and there wasn't really any light pollution so sitting in the hot tub at night was the perfect way to end the days! Would definitely go back.

We’ve just returned from a memorable and fantastic family holiday (2 adults & 5 year old) at wonderful Ploony Hill Lodge. We don’t have pets and in fact I’m allergic to most animal, especially dogs & cats but that was no worry here, superbly clean - you wouldn’t know pooches had been resident previously. Darren and Lindsay give the warmest of welcomes (flowers / wine in the fab fridge and melt in the mouth welsh cakes when you arrive are a lovely touch) they’re there if you need them, friendly and approachable and go the extra mile if you require anything but respect you privacy - the best hosts ! The lodge is very well equipped and has everything you need and more for a relaxing, luxurious stay - hot tub is Wow ! Location is idyllic - watching the squirrels in the trees as you fill the kettle for morning coffee, watching the bats do their dusk fly pasts, listening to the woodpeckers in the day and owls in the evening and the stars.... well you need to see them! The BBQ & Pizza oven hub is a great place rain or shine - we especially enjoyed oak smoked rib eye on the bbq and making pizza from scratch as a family was memorable- the things holidays are made of ! The surrounding area is great, walks up the hill and down the path from the lodge and a visit to Presteigne is a must, the Judges Lodging is great fun and interactive for all ages. THANKS Darren and Lindsay for a sharing your corner of bliss x

Our dogs thoroughly enjoyed their daily walks up the fields and if you let them out through the day you didn't have to worry about them escaping as the place is fully fenced. It was a little treasure!. If your looking for a bit of peace, quiet, privacy and a retreat from all the busyness of everyday life, what a place to stay. It's a open plan, new & modern lodge, It felt like home for the week, loved it. I wish we could have picked it up and taken it with us. A fabulous stay. We didn't want to leave....
