  • "Another amazing week at Ploony, we stayed at the barn previously but the Hill Lodge was just as perfect."

Can’t recommend them enough, perfect location, and the lodge has everything you could possibly think of. It’s amazing for the doggies as well, they loved playing in the garden and exploring around the lodge. Can’t wait for our next visit!!

  • "We arrived at Ploony lodge and were totally blown away!"

It is situated on a farm surrounded by fields. The lodge itself was lovely! So cosy and just what we were after. The surrounding area is beautiful and we headed off on some brilliant adventures with our dogs. Having the hot tub to relax in was amazing!! The enclosed area surrounding the lodge was perfect for the dogs. Being able to let them out without needing leads was great. We had an amazing time and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. The dogs loved driving passed the sheep and goats to and from the lodge!

  • "Swings and Roundabouts for us."

It could do with a few tweaks and I like to leave honest reviews with constructive criticism. Overall it was a nice quiet getaway with beautiful surroundings and nice walks including straight from the gate. Loved the big enclosed garden for our pooch who also loved the outside hot water tap after a walk in the muddy fields! The pizza oven was new for us so that was great fun and toasting marshmallows for super was a great treat! The underfloor heating was toasty and the kitchen was well equipped. It was decorated for Xmas and a bottle of tasty prosecco was a nice touch and a pint of milk also. Hot tub was nice, good windbreaker/privacy screen to pull across as it can feel like you are overlooked by the Cabin on the hill. Great that the hot tub had Wi-Fi, only one speaker was working but still loud enough. So we had originally booked and paid for the Cabin at the top of the hill but was then contacted by Sykes to let us know that it wasn’t actually available but the lodge was, so that was lucky! The photos need updating as it shows nice reclining sofas in the first half of the pictures and then changes to what they actually are in the second half of the pictures… not reclining and not very comfortable unfortunately. We didn’t find the mattress very comfy as it dipped a lot in the middle but everyone’s comfort is different. We were told on the day before arrival not to use the front door as it wasn’t working properly and that it would be fixed after Xmas so hopefully that’s all good now. We were left information to say no cushions were on the sofas etc or board games and dvds available due to ‘Covid19’, however we did find the board games and dvds in the utility room so a little bit confused by that. Shower head needed a good scrub to remove lime scale which was blocking up the holes. Water temperature of the shower was very temperamental, however owner was more than happy to change the shower and communicated well, however we decided it wasn’t a massive drama so was happy for them to leave it over Xmas and hopefully it’s all good now. Log burner is always a favourite of ours, however a puddle of water seemed to form on the top of it which then constantly dripped on to the fire place. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

Heating once up to temp kept lodge cosy . Great communication from Lindsey for arrival day . No phone signal (3) so a really peaceful time . WiFi was good if needed . Logs ready for wood burner on arrival . The track/road up to lodge needs to be taken slowly as it really needs a bit of attention . Garden was secure for our dog . Plenty of paths , bridleways to walk around with the dog also .

  • "Beautiful lodge, perfect in every way for my family holiday."

We loved the private location surrounded by trees & open fields. We were greeted with a bottle of wine on arrival & the owners of the property were at hand if ever we needed them. The lodge was clean & tidy & had everything we needed for a fun & relaxing holiday. The hot tub was the perfect way to unwind at the end of each day & a great way to get my teenagers away from technology!! We found everything in the lodge very easy to use such as the hot tub, the oven, the hobs, the washing machine etc. We loved that all the light switches were labelled too. The outdoor pizza oven was a real bonus & we used it twice during our stay to cook the most delicious home made pizzas. The kids enjoyed toasting marshmallows too. The lodge is in a very remote area so you do need to be prepared to drive a little but that was fine for us & exactly what we were looking for as we took our pups, one of which is very reactive so the more private the better! The only downside was the mile long drive up to the property which is incredibly bumpy but not really a problem. The garden was completely secure which was perfect for our frenchies. They had a wonderful time exploring the grounds & we felt completely relaxed that they were safe. We had access from our garden to many paths around the surrounding fields, & found a lovely little stream just out the back. We also found a fabulous walk just a mile out of the village of Bleddfa called Fishpools walk. It had free parking & the most stunning views as you walked up through Radnor Forest. During our stay we visited Griffin Lloyd shooting range for a great clay pigeon shooting experience, our children went on a fabulous full day hack on horse back across the Black Mountains at the Brecon Beacons with Tregoyd Mountain Riders. We went Go Karting at Herefordshire Raceway Karting which was so much fun, we visited the amazing Gigrin Red Kite feeding centre & we all had a brilliant time at the Severn Valley Quad Trekking experience just to name a few. These activities were all within an hours drive of the property. Gorgeous property, picturesque location & we would highly recommend it to anyone. Thank you Darren & Lindsey for being great hosts, we absolutely loved our stay & didn’t want to go home.

Aw wow, you really found some wonderful things to do. Thank you so much for coming to stay at Ploony and for your wonderful review and kind words. We really do appreciate it. • "What a hidden gem!"

I wanted somewhere very remote, but with all of the facilities from home and ploony Lodge exceeded my expectations. I have two large but well behaved dogs and have to be careful where I book because either the owners won't allow them or the secure gardens aren't secure enough - I didn't have to worry once! The access to the outdoors is overwhelming. We walked in the excess of 20 miles in a week and encountered 4 people, the stream out back was wonderful. I worried my two children may get bored but there was so much access to local walks, forests and the land that they weren't bored once. I booked to be able to completely relax and I haven't been able to relax that much for many years. The lodge is stunning, extremely clean and well equipped. Of course the hot tub was a lovely addition. Would highly recommend.

Oh wow, thank you so much for your wonderful feedback. I really do appreciate it and I am so so pleased you all had such a fantastic stay. • "What a fabulous stay at Plooney Lodge!"

We wanted somewhere remote and cosy with a touch of modest luxury and this is what we got. The approach to the lodge, up a long snowy trail surrounded by beautiful fields, made the anticipation of getting there all the more exciting. The lodge was tastefully done inside and out. It had everything needed, the furniture and set-up suited the family just fine. The hot tub was perfect! We loved going in there every day with our eldest daughter. She thought it was the best part of the holiday and it was definitely part of ours! The heated floors inside made it all the cosier. What made the holiday exceptional was the communication and effort put in by Lindsey. She got in touch before we arrived to check what we needed. She, and her children (!) brought us extra items (dog towels, toys, children’s books etc) to make things easier and more enjoyable for us. It was my 40th Birthday whilst we were there and we came back from our day trip to find some very thoughtful and lovely Birthday decorations and cakes! She even bought a bottle of wine, all of which went down a treat. We would go back in heartbeat. There are so many walks to do in the area and so much more to explore. Highly recommend!

Arriving the lodge was easy to find with directions provided, and the owners warned of the ice but had gritted the main pathway at the lodge(thank you) the lodge was lovely and cosy warm and welcoming with a Christmas tree and some decorations. The inside is bigger than in the pictures and lots of space. The kitchen was well equipped and we cooked every night when we were there. The hot tub was great and lots of space with good powerful jets and we did some star gazing and listening to owls whilst in it. The log fire was great - especially on the really cold days and was easy to source more logs. Our 2 dogs loved the garden and walks nearby and we saw a heron nearby a couple of times. Overall a really relaxing peaceful holiday and we hope to return in 2023.

We didn't find the beds very comfortable and we couldn't get the pizza oven to work, but everything else was great. Hot tub was lovely, and we found the sheep watching us very amusing. It wasn't clear from the listing that there was another lodge on the same site, but it was far enough away that we weren't too bothered. The garden was perfect as we were able to leave the patio doors open and allow the dogs to go out to play when they wanted. Lovely place to sit and watch the wildlife. Will be going back.

  • "What a wonderful setting this lodge is situated in."

The lodge was excellent and had everything in it that you needed for your stay. We travelled with two Greyhounds, one of which doesn't get on with other dogs and this lodge proved perfect for us being completely private. The lodge has a big fully enclosed garden with stunning views over the welsh countryside. Inside the garden you had parking for at least 3 cars, table and chairs and a brilliant addition of a Pizza oven. Definitely take some pizza making foods with you, we used the pizza oven a couple of times and the pizzas were wonderful. You are free to roam the adjoining fields with your dogs and you could easily walk for hours without having to travel anywhere in your car. Darren and Lindsey were always on hand if you needed them and we spoke to Darren most days as he was transporting the lambs into the field next door. If you are into Photography, you will love the clear skies on an evening and the surrounding area. We visited the Gigrin Red Kite Feeding farm and i would definitely recommend it, it was amazing. Lots of places to visit within half an hour drive, Elan Valley & Break Neck Waterfall being two. Overall we had a fantastic holiday and will be returning when we can.

Was just right for 2 adults, 2 kids (11 & 13yrs) and a very active dog - space for the kids to kick a ball about, and for the dog to run around in a fully fenced area. The owner was very welcoming and told us where we could safely take the dog off lead on his land away from sheep. Its very secluded, and there wasn't really any light pollution so sitting in the hot tub at night was the perfect way to end the days! Would definitely go back.

We had a lovely week at the Lodge, despite the weather, the position of the lodge is amazing, rolling fields, you feel you are totally secluded, away from everyone yet Darren and Lindsey are not far away and more than happy to help. The surrounding walks and areas are well worth a visit, our dogs enjoyed the safe garden and the visiting wildlife. The Hot tub s an added bonus after a hard days walking. Lovely welcome pack flowers, wine, welsh cakes and of course the dog treats. The lodge is really a little gem of a place, much more than we expected. All mod cons, well equipped, warm and cosy, cleanliness second to none. Can not recommended enough, tranquil, peaceful, wildlife on your door step, stars at night amazing, and then that hot tub. We were looking for a place to escape with our doggies from fireworks during the bon fire night and this place was perfect. Tranquil and all you can here is sheep, cows and birds. The lodge is great and is tastefully decorated. Well equipped with everything we needed for us and our doggies, clean and warm. It is very dog friendly inside as well as the outside. There is a large enclosed garden for them to run and play as well as ample of beautiful hills and fields for walking. Great hot tub and the pizza oven in the garden. The hot tub is so clean and is just outside the lodge with the canopy above so can be used in any weather. It is so special to be able to watch the stars, enjoy a glass of vine and listen to various birds whilst soaking in the tub.The owners are very friendly, kind and helpful. They welcomed us with gorgeous flowers, homemade Welsh cakes, bottle of vine and treats for dogs. All in all, a brilliant experience!! We are going back this year again. Thank you.

  • "A place you will remember and want to return !"

We’ve just returned from a memorable and fantastic family holiday (2 adults & 5 year old) at wonderful Ploony Hill Lodge. We don’t have pets and in fact I’m allergic to most animal, especially dogs & cats but that was no worry here, superbly clean - you wouldn’t know pooches had been resident previously. Darren and Lindsay give the warmest of welcomes (flowers / wine in the fab fridge and melt in the mouth welsh cakes when you arrive are a lovely touch) they’re there if you need them, friendly and approachable and go the extra mile if you require anything but respect you privacy - the best hosts ! The lodge is very well equipped and has everything you need and more for a relaxing, luxurious stay - hot tub is Wow ! Location is idyllic - watching the squirrels in the trees as you fill the kettle for morning coffee, watching the bats do their dusk fly pasts, listening to the woodpeckers in the day and owls in the evening and the stars.... well you need to see them! The BBQ & Pizza oven hub is a great place rain or shine - we especially enjoyed oak smoked rib eye on the bbq and making pizza from scratch as a family was memorable- the things holidays are made of ! The surrounding area is great, walks up the hill and down the path from the lodge and a visit to Presteigne is a must, the Judges Lodging is great fun and interactive for all ages. THANKS Darren and Lindsay for a sharing your corner of bliss x

Our young dog was safe and free to explore in our gated area which had open fields. Lindsey kept in contact throughout our journey to be sure we found our way and as We arrived 1 mile short of our lodge due to snow conditions Darren the owner picked the 4 of us up along with many bags and drove us the rest of the way on his Quad bike which we found very welcoming. The owners couldn't do enough for you and were close at hand if you needed anything. Loved the underfloor heating, instant hot water, all mod cons and the hot tub was lush, it got used everyday/night and listened to the owls hooting in the evening or woodpeckers in the day! Our dogs thoroughly enjoyed their daily walks up the fields and if you let them out through the day you didn't have to worry about them escaping as the place is fully fenced. It was a little treasure!. If your looking for a bit of peace, quiet, privacy and a retreat from all the busyness of everyday life, what a place to stay. It's a open plan, new & modern lodge, It felt like home for the week, loved it. I wish we could have picked it up and taken it with us. A fabulous stay. We didn't want to leave....
