"We had a great week, a really lovely barn conversion."
Comfortable, warm and very well equipped. Loved the games room too.
"A beautiful location with great facilities."
The barn conversion was well laid out and a most interesting house to visit. A very memorable holiday.
"Great house for a family holiday, this is a very spacious house."
Well equipped kitchen, lots of crockery, cutlery etc, which you don’t always get.
"We had a wonderful holiday in this beautifully converted and located property."
It’s very spacious ,well equipped and thoughtfully laid out. The views are stunning and we were lucky enough to see a pair of Red Kites circling above on our first morning.
It is a quiet area of Herefordshire but not far from Hereford or Hay on Wye. Dore Abbey is worth a look and there are some lovely old church’s nearby including the fascinating and beautifully located one at nearby Bacton.
We enjoyed some competitive table tennis in the games room and ignore any grumbles in early reviews about the WiFi . It’s been upgraded and is excellent. Hope to go back . Ideal for families or groups of friends .
"Lovely peaceful spot in Hereford."
Everything as stated, communication with owner very straightforward with everything as anyone would wish for as regards to Covid arrangements. Very enjoyable stay. Chocolates and cider on our arrival a very nice touch. Thank you.
"This property was perfect for our weekend away, plenty to keep the kids entertained whilst we relaxed!"
"Lindsey was great."
So helpful and friendly, she was so understanding. We enjoyed our experience and would recommend Bushmill to others.
"Lovely rural place to stay."
The cottage is well equipped with everything you need. It is to a great standard.
On the listing it says there is a pool table there isn't. You have ping pong, table football and darts.
"Was an amazing getaway the weather was lovley the host was friendly an the neighbors were really friendly."
It is very quiet an peaceful the house was lovely with a modern cottage look the games room added to the fun an the bbq helped us out a great deal for the cooking.
Only downside should have supplied more loo rolls an paper towels along with more washing sponges.
I guess thats wasnt thought about as we were the first people to stay during this covid era
"Perfect peaceful location for a family get together."
Very helpful owner. Cosy and comfortable.
"A lovely cosy barn conversion."
Our family enjoyed it very much. Would definitely recommend.
"Overall this is a great place to stay!"
- Very well kept, clean and very cosy in the winter (underfloor heating helps!). The owner is also really friendly and great to deal with.
As much as I don't want to complain about anything, I think there are a few things that could be done to make this the best place we've stayed in and somewhere we would come back to EVERY YEAR!
My friends and I go cycling in Wales every year. We are a group of (mature) guys, either 4 or 5 strong.
The places we return to have a games room (which Bushmills has, HOWEVER IT STATES ON THE ADVERT THAT THERE IS A POOL TABLE AND THERE IS NOT ONE! - Which was actually disappointing given its one of the reasons we picked it), somewhere to store bikes (again covered), has a decent TV and Sky for the evenings (Bushmills does not have) and decent internet, as there or 4 or 5 of us trying to get on line when we are in the house (something Bushmills really lacks).
Whilst I understand that some rural places don't have great internet, we find plenty of places in the local area that do, so it doesn't feel like that should be the reason Bushmills lacks. Its that bad I would even suggest either removing "WiFi" from the advert, or at least explain to people that it is next to useless. (dial up speed only).
"The roads to and from the cottage are a bit narrow."
Over all we had a great time. Thank you.
"We went away for my mum’s 60 th birthday."
Everything we needed was at the cottage!
There were plenty of kitchen utensils, cutlery, pans, cups, lively Prosecco glasses!
Washing up liquid, bin bags and tea towels.
There was a box of toys for he children, plenty of extra bedding, fans as it was very hot while we were there. Toilet roll and hand wash also available.
So we had a great start to our weekend.
The house was very clean and had a lovely feel to it, the photos really don’t do it justice- it’s beautiful.
There is space to play games outside and a picnic bench and bbq which we used.
It’s a very rural location which suited us. So handy to plan food in advance.
We used the local chippy first night- about 3 mile away but quite a queue! Worth it though for the tasty fish!!
Second day we went shopping to a supermarket. Great place to go for beautiful scenery and to get away from it all.
The WiFi was unreliable which was only a problem when we were trying to google
Things to do!!
We had a brilliant time and I highly recommend this place for a holiday- you won’t be disappointment.
Booking through Sykes was easy and hassle free too.
Give it a go
"Wonderful conversion, beatifully built."
Peaceful; a perfect place to relax
"Really peaceful location."
Although we didn't use either loved the wood burner and BBQ. Prosecco in the fridge was a nice touch. Some sharper knives in the kitchen would have made it a perfect stay.
"My Sykes app very useful, all information required was to hand at all times."
Also liked the places of interest sent through,
The cottage we stayed in was lovely, with a kind owner leaving fresh chicken eggs and treats for the kids. Everything was as described and very enjoyable.
"The owner was unobtrusive, extremely delightful and helpful when needed."
This is an excellent, spacious, modern holiday home for 3 generations as we were. Good, quiet, downstairs twin bedded (we pushed them together with ease) room and a small shower room for the older couple. Upstairs three large bedrooms (one triple bedded), two with en suites and a large bathroom for the others. All the furnishings, bed linen, etc are good quality. Everyone remarked on the comfort of the beds. A wonderful outlook with lots of parking not obscuring the panoramic view. The games room is an absolute bonus, especially when, as we had, some very ‘mixed’ weather. Our only negative, not being walkers, was that Kerry’s Gate is fairly rural with limited attractions in a 30 min radius. None of us keen in spending much time in a car having got there. But it did enable a younger member to go down memory lane in south Shropshire with his wife and children matching family paintings of their village done in the 70s and 80s by great grandparents to the landscape as it now is. Much unchanged should you wonder. The Abbey at Abbey Dore, Owl and Small Breeds Centre (don't stroke the owl as suggested if you value your fingers!) and Hay on Wye worth a visit. A good time was had by all.
"A lovely property run by equally lovely owners."
We did have a problem during our stay but this was sorted out extremely quickly to our approval.
"A wonderful property in a rural setting."
Ideal for large family get togethers or walking groups. Good all year round venue.
"We had to leave early for family reasons and the owners Mr and Mrs Jenkins couldn’t have been more helpful."
We would love to go back sometime soon.
"The games room was an added bonus for us especially being a few miles from a near town."
Bushmills was clean and welcoming. The outdoors was spectacular and an extension of indoors. The rooms were all a good size and comfortable. U have already recommended this to others
"Excellent family holiday."
Plenty to do come rain or shine. The children & dads enjoyed the games room. The lawn hosted a brilliant water fight & the BBQ area was fantastic. We had extra guests there for the birthday meal but there was enough plates etc to go around.
The kitchen was big enough to house 2 chefs. Would definitely stay there again.
"We really enjoyd the space and facilities at Bushmills."
We were sad to learn that it was already booked for the same period next year or we would have re-booked.
"The house was more over looked than we imagined."
"This was a very warm, comfortable and well equipped property that was a perfect place for us have to have a family Christmas."
Having a downstairs bedroom was a real plus point for the eldest member of the party.
If anything the pictures of the living area and kitchen didn’t do justice to the space or level of comfort.
I don’t remember reading anything about the views from the cottage or garden so that was a pleasant surprise.
"Brilliant property, great location,,very cosy,no problems except for a slight plumbing problem, which was rectified with a phone call."
Brilliant weekend. 10/10.
"A really exceptional property, especially good for large groups."
We were three generations who all enjoyed the spaciousness, the facilities and the location of this really lovely house.
"Loved it, can't say any more than that."
"Bushmills was a lovely spacious cottage; situated in a quiet location with lovely views."
"A very quiet house in a peaceful location."
Very spacious and flexible accommodation. Very comfortable beds. Very roomy and comfortable parking. The owners were discreet, friendly, and attentive on the one occasion they were needed. We loved the location, its rural feel and the fact that genuine, country activities were going on around us. We'd certainly be happy to return.
"A well planned property with lots of space for two families to enjoy a relaxing break together."
Beds very comfortable and kitchen very well equipped. Location excellent and owners very friendly but not intrusive at all. Brilliant holiday!
"A lovely cottage in a peaceful location."
We all enjoyed our stay very much. The facilities and accommodation were just as we hoped. We particularly liked the space, the en suites and the games room.
"Bushmills was an amazing place to stay!"
It is a beautiful barn conversion in a stunning area. We were two families with 4 children 11-14y. Everything was immaculate and so comfortable. The property has everything you need. We would love to come again and will definitely recommend it to our friends.
Would definitely recommend it to friends and would come again.
"A lovely place in an idyllic setting."
The cottage had everything you could ever need and the local area has some lovely walking paths.
"The accommodation was superb for use by an extended family with an ideal layout of bedrooms and bathrooms, and the huge open plan living/dining area."
The games room was a wonderful facility used by the children and adults alike. The beds were wonderfully comfortable. The gorgeous views from the property together with it's proximity to Hereford, Hay-on-Wye, Ross and Montgomery made for a wonderful base from which to explore the local area. We briefly met the owners who were friendly and helpful. Altogether a wonderful stay in a beautiful house. We were all sorry to leave!
"Excellent accommodation and an excellent welcome."
A great way to enjoy the countryside and celebrate a 65th birthday.
"Thank you for a great family break, it is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday."
The house was beautiful and there was more than enough space for us all.
Very comfortable even with a full house of people!! Very warm.
"Overall a great place to stay!"
Quiet and very child friendly! My husband was enjoying jogging each morning as it's such a beautiful place to be. I wish we had more days to spend at Bushmills, we will definitely recommend it to other families!
"A beautiful house in a lovely location."
Really appreciated the extra effort the owner went to to make the house cosy and attractive, as well as all the local area maps and information left for us. I would recommend this highly and hope to return.
"A beautiful place which was very well equipped."
There was plenty of room for nine guests, great for a big family get-together. The children enjoyed the games room!
"The Games room was superb ."
We found a excellent pub to eat at. The holiday was superb
"Facilities are first rate; very comfortable and nicely finished."
The lovely setting with fantastic views and wonderful weather certainly helped us have a terrific week. The Games room was a welcome distraction for our teenage kids and the owner could not be more helpful - the time taken to put together a file with every kind of leaflet/brochure for all activities and villages of interest was a wonderful thought.
"Lovely spacious, well-equipped property that was extremely comfortable."
The whole party enjoyed the stay and we would all be happy to return. A highly recommended property.
"Great location, close to many tourist attractions."
Ideal property for a 2 family break. Excellent accommodation with lots of useful information supplied, felt really homely. Would definitely recommend and visit again, thank you.
"Very homely, warm and comfortable."
Spacious family living area. Table tennis and games room. High quality conversion of old barn. Rural location with beautiful views in a peaceful and unspoilt area. Access to a wide variety of landscape and activities within a reasonable distance.
"We had an excellent, relaxing stay at Bushmills."
Very impressed with the overall level of equipment and furnishings, the small extra touches that meant so much. Games room was a big plus. Highly recommended!
"I loved every second of it, if you want to get away for a weekend Bushmill is the one to book."
Everything was so clean and tidy and even though it was cold outside but when we got in it was so nice and warm as the owner had left the heating on for us. I would definitely go back and I would recommended to everyone.
"Fantastic views and superbly warm."
The kitchen had everything we needed. It was a great weekend.
"The property was welcoming and warm."
Great location, plenty of walking country and from the cottage too, Hay on Wye, Abergavenney, Hereford; all brilliant for a trip. Just a fantastic place to spend a week with extended family.
"Could not fault it, everything was well maintained, plenty of space, plenty of parking."
"A beautiful barn conversion in a beautiful location."
Lots of crockery and cutlery, so that the dishwasher did not need to be on all the time. We had booked it so that we had a lovely place for our daughter to leave for her wedding, and it did not disappoint us.
"Well equipped, very clean and comfortable barn conversion."
Everyone commented how comfortable the beds were. Having the games room was an added bonus.
"A beautifully decorated, furnished and equipped house."
We stayed there to be within easy distance of Hay-on-Wye, which was about 30 minutes drive much of which was along little used single track roads.
"Amazing house, amazing setting."
A great time was had by all.
"The property was fantastic and the directions to get there was perfect."
The owners were accommodating and very helpful and it was just the break that my friends and I were looking for.
I would certainly recommend this to anyone else!
"Beautiful barn conversion with fantastic views."
Everything was extremely clean, four lovely bathrooms and the added bonus of a games room. The owner was friendly and helpful.
"We loved the cottage, it was comfy and cosy and the little touches on arrival really made it feel homely."
There was plenty of crockery which made our holiday a lot easier when it came to cooking and dining in. The showers are fantastic and the heating and wood burner lovely after a chilly day out.
"We had a really lovely break at Bushmills."
Seven adults and one baby plenty of room. A bathroom per couple and the bath up stairs was like a swimming pool for my granddaughter.
"We booked Bushmills for a family break and it catered for all of our needs."
The house was based in an excellent location. It was a pleasure to call Bushmills our home for the duration of our break.
"An excellent property for a family get together, particularly the 4 bathrooms."
Good to have the playroom and loads of crockery/cutlery. A lovely location.
"The property is absolutely excellent and the six of us were very comfortable."
We loved it! Plenty of room, very comfortable beds, excellent showers and a very well supplied kitchen.
"Ideal living area for socialising as a group."
Easy distance to local towns.
Lovely cottage. Games room was enjoyed.
Would not hesitate to recommend cottage or visit again.
"We enjoyed the attractive Herefordshire countryside and historic places such as Hereford and Ross."
There was no lack of interesting places to visit.
"It was an excellent cottage and everyone loved how comfortable the beds were."
The log fire was great, the property was very clean and the games room was excellent. We could not have been any happier with Bushmills.
"The property was excellent - lovely, peaceful location."
It had plenty of space and the open plan kitchen/lounge/dining area was ideal for keeping an eye on our young children whilst preparing meals. Although we went in autumn I can imagine the BBQ seating area and games room would be fantastic during the summer months!
"We found the location to be stunning and the finish of the property to be outstanding."
A very well equipped barn conversion which we will return to in the future. The barn is super for families given the number of rooms and the games area for children.
