  • "We had a lovely weekend at this quiet, secluded getaway."

The owner was very helpful when he introduced himself and it was great to have the (mostly) enclosed garden available for our dog to use. There is lovely walks on the doorstep, nature all around and the food in the pub was amazing too. And all just a short drive in to Hereford to explore the wider area. The plumbing in the cottage is a bit funky, but everything worked and it didn’t impact our stay at all.

  • "Stayed here for a couple of nights for a family wedding nearby."

Cottage worked well, good location generally and for the family event, and had pretty much all that was needed. Having travelled some distance and with a 5pm check-in, we did bring food to self cater, though it would have been helpful to have some cooking basics such as salt and pepper, olive oil, butter for the bread provided etc. Goodies that were provided were appreciated. When the bath taps were turned on the tap in the kitcen also came on, so think this needs looking at. Thank you

  • "A clean and well maintained base for visiting the Herefordshire countryside."

Plenty of room for two people. The owner was friendly and there was a nice welcome pack of fresh fruit and goodies when we arrived. The plumbing however is a bit quirky. The kitchen tap has a permanent drip and the pipes knock when you turn on the hot tap. We had an enjoyable week. Thank you

Everything you would want. Met by the host on the day, lovely welcome pack including the chocolate, fruit and nut. Two decent sized mugs for tea. Comfy sofa, good internet tv and wifi. Excellent bed, very comfortable with tasteful furnishings Even thought there wasn’t a secure garden for the dog we found 2 adjoining fields where the dog could safely run around. Thank you for a lovely stay, hopefully we will be back.

  • "This is a very comfortable cosy cottage."

It’s well equipped, very warm, has everything you need for a stay away from home. The garden for the dog although is enclosed I wouldn’t suggest letting a dog off the lead as it could get out through the bars of the fence. Unfortunately the pub in the village of Madley is now closed so it is a drive away to reach ‘a local’. Given that the weather was not fortuitous we didn’t go for many walks as everywhere was so water logged but given drier conditions it is an ideal area for lots of walks. Wales is so close to Hereford we were able to explore there frequently and even took a ride on the Brecon Mountains steam train

We never met the owners and no instructions were left for us. There was an excellent welcome pack, and the flat was clean, though it sits below another one from where we could hear every footstep, conversation and everything else. Equipment was basic and the flat lacked homely touches. No mobile phone reception, intermittent tv though good wi fi.

Whilst we only stayed for 3 nights we would have been happy to stay for longer. If there's one thing we would say it was that the bedroom door scrapes on the floor, could do with shaving a bit of the bottom.

  • "Lovely place to stay close enough for my family meet up."

Very clean and more spacious than I had thought. Good facilities to eat in The owners kindly left us some goodies (milk, bread, chocolate biscuits and some fruit) which was very welcomed by us. Bed was comfortable but I needed to use cushions as well as pillows which was just my personal preference as I have sinus problems. The shower was a telephone style and the water power not great but definitely useable and not a problem for us. The Granary is a clever use of space … everything you need for a comfortable few days away. We ate in the first night then as a family went to Ludlow and also the Kilpeck Inn (recommend this one). The Granary is a working farm so woken by cockerels but nothing bothered us and we loved our stay. A very pleasant and happy stay. Would definitely recommend and would come back when staying in Herefordshire. Thank you for a very comfortable stay at Granary 1

The flat was clean and tidy and nicely laid out. As it was winter we were a tad worried before we went with regard to the heating but we found that like everything else in the flat it worked beautifully. The flat is very well insulated and holds the heat so we didn't need the heaters on all the time. The little enclosed grassy area was a godsend in the rain as it is literally right by your front door.

Unfortunately with a broken arm post op it was impossible to visit the local area but you can walk to the local shop and footpaths for lovely dog walks from the cottage. Tescos is 15 mins drive away with plenty of choice. Our dog was made very welcome and loved the garden too. Would definitely visit again if in the area. Excellent value for money.

Jonathan greeted us personally the moment we arrived following a long drive after a days work which was a welcoming and friendly start. Set away from the road, down a track, the property is gorgeous inside and out and is blissfully quiet. The garden and nearby meadows are great for four legged friends. A picnic basket of delicious goodies was greatly appreciated and enjoyed. Kate was brilliant in recommending places to visit based on our interests. The village centre is just a short walk along a wooded path where a shop offers all essentials. The take away is well worth a visit as is the Red Lion. A proper drinking pub with a lovely garden and super dog friendly as are Kate and Jonathan. There are lots of beautiful walking routes locally. Dobby enjoyed his stay as much as we did. Kate & Jonathan were pleasant and the building is beautifully done. Good parking facilities and a brilliant medium sized paddock next to the property for letting the dogs run loose. Plenty of dog walks around Hereford, particularly along the River Wye early in the morning and late evening were ideal as it was extremely hot during our stay. There are also plenty of towns within travelling distance by car from the property which made the stay more enhoyable, there are also a few good National Trust sites too. The welome hamper was great too, a fresh pint of milk in the fridge when we arrived, and the hamper included, a loaf, chocolate, biscuits and a large bag of crisps to share, along with a welcome note from Kate & Jonathan which also provided the Wi-Fi Code. The biggest plus, is Kate & Jonathan are very dog friendly and we have two very tired terriers after their stay. Thank you for providing a great place to stay, hope we come back some day.

The provision of bread, milk, fruit etc was most welcome and a very pleasant surprise. The Granary is well designed and very comfortable with a lovely open plan layout. One thing that could be improved on is the shower which isn't very powerful. Also to provision of a dressing table and chair in the bedroom rather than a clothes basket would be very useful. We have only stayed in the Autumn and Winter but I’m sure that it is even more splendid in the Spring and Summer. Kate and Jonathan are very attentive and so welcoming. We were overwhelmed by our arrival basket, filled with cheese, artisan bread, crisps and chocolate. There was also a fabulous bowl of fruit and a vase of beautiful roses. Our little dog loved his holiday and was also showered with doggy treats and kindness. The Granary is a great base for exploring north Herefordshire and south Shropshire, with Hereford, Hay on Wye and Ludlow a short drive away. The Welsh border is close too. Kate and Jonathan were very helpful recommending places to visit, including Lock’s Garage, again a short distance away, called, “The Fortnum and Masons of the Borders”, for its array of fruit, veg and meat, not to mention the ice cream. Everything you could possibly want was there including the most warm welcome and hospitality from the owners Kate and Jonathan who very kindly provided us with a generous basket of goodies upon our arrival and even a treat for Belle the dog! I would not hesitate in recommending The Granary to anyone wanting to visit the area. We will be returning at the next opportunity. Definitely not one to be missed. Julie and Belle

  • "Wow, what can I say about The Granaries?"

It was amazing. We arrived and were met by Kate, who welcomed us and our dog, showed us around, including a welcome basket of tea, coffee, milk, fresh ciabatta loaf, brie, cheese and sparkling water. A lovely surprise and enabled us to settle straight in without having to run to the shops. Kate and Jonathan were a joy , they checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed, had information and advice on where to go and what to see. They also have us some home grown produce, which was in season, and baked us a cake! They could not have made us feel more welcome. The conversion has been done beautifully and to a high standard, and was comfortable and clean. Locally, it's a quick walk into the village, which had a corner shop and a couple of pubs. The Red Lion was really friendly and we had a good dinner there one night. Basic pub grub, but done well. Overall, had a really relaxing break and would happily recommend and visit agsin. Thanks

  • "Absolutely Perfect."

The cottage is beautiful and exceeded all expectations. The hosts, Kate and Johnathon are wonderful people and go out of their way to make sure your stay is a happy and relaxing one. When I arrived at the cottage there was not only a welcome basket containing bread and a delicious Bara-Brith loaf but in addition the luxury of some Ferrer Rocher chocolates. On the coffee table were some beautiful roses together with a fruit basket, and some much-appreciated milk and brie cheese in the fridge. I felt truly pampered. My only problem was that I didn't want to leave at the end of my stay. Thank you Kate and Johnathon. I will most definately be back.

  • "Fantastic stay at Granary 1."

Would definitely recommend. The hosts Kate and Jonathan were very welcoming. We had waiting a basket of goodies, fresh flowers, fruit and Kate brought over some freshly made Bara-Brith (absolutely delicious!). One of the days we even got to try some Greengages from the garden and Jonathan even gave us some home grown vegetables which I made a lovely meal with. We went on some day trips to Hereford and Hay-on-Wye using the cottage as a base. There are a number of places to visit within a 30min drive and we found some great places to have lunch and walk. The cottage is a perfect location and very quiet but accessible. Just what we wanted for our stay. Its very modern and clean with a lot of outside space. The town is a short walk away, where there is a local shop, fish and chip shop and pub. We had our one year old with us and he had a lot of fun playing outside and seeing the sheep and the chickens. The cottage is child friendly and a cot was set up when we arrived. I wish we could have stayed a few more days! The cottage has everything you need for a relaxing break. The hosts were really kind and thoughtful and made the break even nicer for us. We will definitely go back to stay.

We felt immediately spoilt and this was a fabulous start to our holiday. The cottage is comfortable with every modern convenience. The garden is lovely with plenty of space for the dogs to explore and a large patio area. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom, along with the rest of the cottage was immaculate. The welcome we received was first class from the really friendly owners and the welcome hamper with all the essentials and treats for our dog was a lovely touch as was the bowl of eggs from the owners hens. We slept like logs and in fact I am going to contact the owner to find out what the mattress is as it was so comfortable. Fabulous location too - very tranquil with lots of varied walks from the doorstep if you don't want to get in the car while only a 15 minute drive to Hereford (traffic depending of course).
