The decor and facilities were attractive ,clean and contemporary . Our extended young family had happy times in the property and the BBQ and generous hot tub added extra fun . • "We usually have three or four holidays each year in the UK."

Over the years we’ve never gone back to the same place twice, preferring to explore different parts of the country on our trips away. Lower Hodre is the only exception to this ‘rule’ of ours. We first discovered it in 2019 and loved it so much we booked again for 2020. (The first time we’ve ever done this.). Unfortunately Covid lockdowns scuppered these plans and that holiday was held over until this year - the week we’ve just come back from last Friday. It’s still the most comfortable, luxurious home and tranquil location we remembered so fondly from our previous visit. Emma, the owner, is still the most superb Host: nothing is too much trouble for her and she really does go the extra mile to ensure her guests have anything and everything they need. In short, Lower Hodre is definitely our most favourite holiday let anywhere in the UK. So much so I shall be ringing you tomorrow (Monday September 13th) to book yet another week at this fabulous place for next year. We’re hoping to reserve the week from the 9th to the 16th September in 2022. Now you can’t get a better recommendation than that, can you?!

Lovely welcoming host, amazing outlook across the fields and hills. 30 mins to Ludlow which was fine, and Sainsbury’s delivery saw us through. Hot tub great for the kids and late nights looking across the view. Loved it. Would definitely go back, but you need to mind your head! Water is always scorchingly hot btw.

  • "My Husband and I stayed at this property for a week following lockdown."

The property is a traditional farmhouse full of character and original features but with modern kitchen and bathrooms. It looks very Impressive as you come over the hill on the approach. It stands in its own large garden overlooking open countryside. There are a couple of other properties nearby yet you are not overlooked. The covered hot tub area is ideal; it is decked out allowing easy access to the large well maintained hot tub. It looked exactly as on the pictures and is a nice private area. It allowed us to spend many relaxing hours looking out at the lovely countryside; even had the privilege of seeing the Tawny Owl flying past (what a bonus). The owl box is in the large tree at the side of the hot tub area so you can hear him hooting around 9pm as he prepares to go off hunting. The house is well kitted out, even a few basic food provisions to get you started. Plenty of logs for the two log burners too. Bedding and towels are of good quality with luxury mattress toppers and pillow protectors. Made for a good nights sleep as the bed was very comfortable. We are keen walkers and the surrounding area provided lots of opportunity for easy or strenuous walks. You can even walk from the door. The owners are really lovely people, very friendly and approachable. Their home is fairly close but your privacy is well respected; they are not at all intrusive. We felt they went to great lengths to ensure our stay was enjoyable; nothing was too much trouble (super hosts in fact

Hosts were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. No phone signal at the property which for me was a bonus as I could switch off from work! Good WiFi to compensate for anyone that wants to stay in touch with the outside world. Hot Tub was heavenly after a day out exploring. Print off and follow the instructions given by Emma to find the property, this will prevent you from travelling down miles of single track roads if you follow your Sat Nav. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay.

She provided a lot of information on the area and answered all my questions quickly. She welcomed us on arrival and had kindly provided some essentials as milk, bread, butter, eggs and a lovely cake. The house is done beautifully with a lot of character and good amount of facilities. We came with our two large dogs and it was very nice to see that there were some dog bowls and dog towels. Fantastic house and even better host, we hope to come here again.

We had everything we needed and Emma couldn't have been more welcoming, friendly and helpful. One of our party said the photos on the website, which I had thought looked great, didn't do the cottage justice! The setting is just beautiful and we had a great weekend walking locally with the bonus (which we don't usually get on our annual 'Book Group on Tour") of coming back to the hot tub with views over the hills.....Perfect!

The photos do not do the house (or its location) justice. It's a beautifully designed/decorated property and is equipped with everything you could possibly need to make your stay there comfortable and luxurious. Owner Emma is a delightful young lady and the home made cake, milk, farm eggs, fresh flowers etc she provided for us on our arrival were a lovely welcoming touch. It was a very rural location which was perfect for the get away we had in mind. There are local amenities within a 10 minute drive away. There is limited phone signal but there was internet provided which worked in certain areas of the property. The host, Emma, was extremely friendly & helpful. We had read from previous reviews that Emma had put on food for previous guests so we asked for a buffet to be put on which was outstanding, there was plenty left over! The 90th birthday boy used a walking stick & managed to navigate the house safely, there are a number of stairs & low beams to be aware of. The hot tub went down a treat with the children. Plenty of beautiful walks surrounding the area which proved popular with the dog. The property has a natural rustic feel with ample heating. The log fires were laid ready for our use with spectacular views.

There was a nice big utility/boot room when you came in with well positioned chairs to help the aged put on their boots etc. Hot tub with a lovely view over the frosty fields was well used by some of us after the day's walking. • "Lower Hodre is a lovely place to stay."

The house is spacious and has been beautifully done up to make a super residence. It has various steps between the levels in it and some low doorways - so tall people need to watch their heads. Having said that my wife and I who both use walking sticks managed without any problems. Emma is delightful with a lovely 4 month baby girl who took an instant dislike to my specs - poor Mum! Emma had left a lovely coffee and walnut cake which went down a treat as well as some eggs and a loaf of bread. These really made us feel welcome. We have already talked about making a return visit but from what we hear about the popularity of Lower Hodre (no surprise there) we shall have to book early.

The photographs don’t do it justice. Absolutely spotless and newly furnished, carpeted and kitted out. The beds were very comfortable there were some low beams/ceilings however these added to the charm of the cottage which was very spacious inside and out. The red kites put on flying displays throughout the day and the hot tub was fantastic for an evening relax and we were lucky enough to watch the space station pass over each night whilst taking a dip. Emma the cottage owner couldn’t be more helpful and was close to hand across the lane. Lovely cottage in a lovely setting would definitely go back and highly recommend.

  • "Lower Hodre is a beautiful house, much of it historic, with beams and nooks and crannies galore."

Nine adults and one greyhound were very comfortable here for a weekend. The house is beautifully decorated and well appointed with fixtures and fittings. The kitchen is a pleasure to cook in, and the hot tub!!! well that was the icing on the cake. Talking of cake, the complimentary home-made cake - and home-made marmalade, and fresh farm eggs - were greatly appreciated. Our host Emma was friendly and helpful and lives in a house which is near Lower Hodre but not so near as to be intrusive. Two wood-burning stoves would keep the house very cosy in winter and the central heating is effective too, though we didn't need it much and ended up turning all the radiators off. The outdoor seating area was welcome when the sun came out, and the garden is a good size, plenty of room for the dog to run around. Lower Hodre is in a very quiet area with only the occasional car or farm vehicle passing down the lane. There are walks around lanes and footpaths right from the front door, through spectacular countryside with red kites circling overhead, sheep in the fields and rabbits hopping around. It's a really beautiful, peaceful place.
