  • "The cottage was excellent set in beautiful surrounding countryside it was so peaceful and relaxing ."

It was wonderful just to hear the birds singing not any traffic noise and extremely fresh air, at the end of our holiday I was reluctant to leave. It was definitely one of the nicest cottages we have booked for a holiday and would definitely like to return.

  • "Very comfortable accommodation, well equipped and lovely and warm when it was cold outside."

Lovely private patio and garden with extensive play area for children. Welcoming hosts. Although not the responsibility of the property owners the public access road is narrow and potholed. Fortunately it is also very quiet and we did not meet another vehicle all week so was not a problem to us.

  • "The only thing that would have been good to know before booking was the type of roads leading to the cottage."

There was quite a few miles of single track roads leading to and from the cottages. High hedges on either side and not many passing places. It seems most residents had large cars, often 4x4 but we only had a small Yaris. Certainly wouldnt have liked to arrive in the dark! The cottage itself was fantastic and extremely clean and well laid out. The number of robins, squirrels and the occasional pheasant on your front doorstep was lovely to see. Lots of lovely walks in the area and the scenery around the area is amazing. I didnt realise how hilly it was in Shropshire. Had a thoroughly relaxing few days, much needed in these Covid days.

  • "We enjoyed our holiday at the cottage which was spotless."

My only downside was that it was quite remote and single track lanes had to be negotiated for at least two miles to find a proper road. Had I been aware of this I may have thought twice about booking the cottage.

  • "Can't fault the accommodation (see marks above)."

Only small negatives, the accommodation is in a beautiful, isolated rural location, which to us was a bonus. However, it means difficulties with mobile phones and Internet connection. But the owner has overcome this with a purpose built unit that receives wi-if connection very close to the property and works fine. TV reception in the lounge was poor but upstairs was fine. All-in-all an excellent cottage, we have stayed in several and this is up there with the best of them and we would certainly go again. The owners live very close by and are available to give any assistance. Very highly recommended.

  • "Driveway up to the cottage very narrow and hardly any passing places."

We had to reverse down a large section. Rather scary. Owners very friendly and helpful. Need mirror in dressing table recess in second bedroom.

  • "The hosts were outstanding."

We went with our 18 month old daughter and they continually went out of their way to find and put out toys for her to play with. Nothing was too difficult. Incredibly hospitable people with a beautiful cottage.

  • "The Granary has to be far one of the nicest cottages we have stayed at."

We where made very welcome by the owner, the facilities where exceptional. We had our own little private patio and also a further seating area on the decking which was more shaded plus our own little cottage garden. In the grounds of the property is a wildlife pond which was full of newts and we loved to stroll over there in the evening to watch them, very relaxing. Shropshire is a lovely county and a place of outstanding natural beauty. Would highly recommend this property for a relaxing break. The Cunningham’s Cheshire

The property

The Granary is one of two 18th century, Grade II restored cottages in the Bryncalled Barns accommodation, located near to Bucknell, Shropshire.

A walk through the stylish dark wooden-framed doors greets you with a delightful, homely open plan living area.

The large, comfortable sofa along with the rustic stoned walls give this converted barn its traditional, warming feel.

Moving on upstairs, the wooden beams and dark red floral wallpaper continue the quaint feel that the exterior begins.

Both bedrooms and the large bathroom are incredibly modern and stylish, creating a wonderful combination with the cottage's rustic character.

The balcony sweeping across the front of the building allows visitors from both bedrooms to walk out and admire the view.

The beautifully-slabbed, exotic rear garden joins a vibrant decking area, with furniture and an abundance of colourful, lively plants to create the perfect scene for the family to sit out and relax with a cool drink on a nice, warm evening whilst the children enjoy the play area nearby, shared with the other cottage.

An outstanding cottage in an astonishing part of the Shropshire countryside, suitable for a holiday all year round.
