"Very spacious, spotlessly clean and well equiped cottage, well located for exploring Ludlow, Hay on wye areas, and nearby National Trust properties."
The ginger cake on arrival was an added bonus.
"Great place to stay - very well appointed and high standard of cleanliness"
"Fantastic hosts who welcomed us with a lovely homemade cake."
The property was finished to a very high standard with lots of luxury touches. Ideal location for exploring great countryside. Close to some great National Trust properties.
"What a wonderful place to stay and visit the local area."
Comfortable and clean with everything you need. Huge bed! Hosts very accommodating.
"This property was listed as dog friendly but think that it missed the point ,very busy road no gates closed and no area to exercise a dog ,the road only 10 or so metres from the back of the property was busy day and night."
Other than that the cottage it’s self was very well set up towels ,bedding first class it was just a shame regarding the dog it spoilt it for us.
Thank you for your comments. We ask, in accordance with Sykes terms and conditions, for dogs to be kept on a leash at all times when outside the cottage. Having the gate open in these circumstances shouldn’t make any difference. We have a reasonably spacious garden and adjoining paddock (when not occupied by sheep/horses) which guests are welcome to use to exercise their dog. I’m sorry to say that we can’t do anything about the road, but farm traffic is a fact of life at this time of year. Property Owner
"The accommodation was clean and spacious and the bed very comfortable!"
The only negative was not with the accommodation but with the very busy road running alongside the garden - the traffic was so noisy we couldn't hear each other speak if one was in the kitchen and one in the garden.
The pub is now closed and up for sale but there are plenty of other places a short drive away.
"Beautiful accommodation that is furnished to a high standard and spotlessly clean."
Helpful owners live on site. A car is essential for touring the area.
"This spotless cottage is lovely to come back to after a day touring the beautiful black and white villages."
It is ideal for a peaceful holiday. A short drive to Shobdon airfield. Hosts are welcoming. Would definitely return.
Kitchen well eqquiped. Bed linen & towels plentiful & comfortable. Very spacious inside property. Small private outside space in addition to large shared garden.
Only recommendation would be a mirror on opposite side of entrance to site as exiting is tricky because of the hedge.
"Great accommodation, spacious, clean and everything you need for a relaxing break."
Very friendly and helpful owners, nice part of the country. I would recommend a visit to Ludlow and if you are a walker, go and do Pen Y Fan, only an hour away, totally stunning and rewarding. Many other lovely places all within 30/45 minutes.
"Excellent base for visiting the area."
"We went on holiday to go fishing, the cottage was an ideal base and the owners were very nice they were there if we needed anything so would recommend if you wanted to have a quiet holiday and roam around Herefordshire."
"Very friendly and welcoming hosts."
The cottage itself was spacious, very comfortable with a very well equipped kitchen and lovely bathroom. The cottage was extremely clean too. We had lovely weather and enjoyed sitting on the private patio area with a cup of tea and very tasty ginger cake provided by Mary on our arrival. Couldn’t be better!
"Dawn, myself and our puppy Archie loved our break between Christmas and New Year."
The cottage is very modern, refurbished 2019 if memory serves and is very well equipped plus it’s fig friendly. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom and well planned. The location is central to many attractions such as Croft Hall, Barrington, Ludlow Castle, Stokesy Castle etc etc. There a super restaurant just up the road which again I S dog friendly. Shopping, there’s a small shop within walking distance which is well equipped with essentials however, for a bigger - better value shop - there’s a huge Morrison’s 15-mins away.
The hosts Mary and Tony were great, very helpful and cheery.
Great place and experience - excellent
"We were very pleasantly surprised by the spacious, modern, comfortable and well presented cottage/ apartment."
We had every item in kitchen, bathroom, and sitting room we could need.
Mr and Mrs Arber, the owners, made it unique by the lovely home made cake and personal instruction about places of interest near us as it was our first time in this lovely part of the country. Thank you to you both.
Perhaps the general photo of the outside of the cottages doesn’t reflect the spaciousness of the interior
"The accommodation was really excellent - it is very spacious and had everything that I needed."
It's in a lovely location, with a great garden to enjoy. I would definitely recommend staying there and will look forward to staying in one of these fabulous beautifully converted cottages again.
"The equipment in the kitchen was adequate."
The dressing table mirror in the bedroom was too small, and too low down on the wall. There were however some wonderful touches, Some cake and milk ready for when we arrived. A shoe horn and umbrella to use. A good, powerful hair drier in the bedroom. The shower was amazing, with fully adjustable jet head. A very smart, tidy, clean and comfortable cottage.
"Spacious accommodation for two in the midst of a great countryside and just a few miles from the "black and white" villages."
Comfortable place and friendly people letting it.
"The setting of the Old Power House cottages was lovely."
The cottage was extremely well presented and a great deal of care and thoughtfulness had gone into making sure all the current COVID-19 safety guidelines were met. The owners were welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. They also shared a lot of knowledge about local history and accessible places to visit. We would certainly recommend this cottage to family and friends as we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
"Lovely relaxing stay with some nice touches which really make you feel at home."
The spacious bedroom and bathroom give a luxurious feel too. Also smart TV which my teenage son in particular really appreciated. Beautiful countryside all around and a warm welcome from our hosts. They were very helpful and provided lots of local information which added greatly to the enjoyment of our stay.
I do think guests should know that the garden area backs onto a B road as that may be an issue for some dog owners in particular. The road had only intermittent traffic but there were occasional lorries to the industrial area further down the road.
A larger oven glove would also have been greatly appreciated as the one in the cottage is very small and tricky to use! Other than that the kitchen is very well stocked with all that you could need.
Would definitely recommend and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would stay here again. Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We are delighted that you have had a pleasant stay at the cottage and enjoyed exploring the attractions. The road at the rear of the property is the C1032, however, this does not appear on maps, because of the proximity of the road and the fact that we have a lot of wildlife (including horses in our field at the moment) in and around our property, we specify that dogs should be kept on a lead at all times Property Owner
"The owners were very friendly and helpful and the cottage was spotless and well equipped."
We enjoyed our holiday there, the only disappointment was that you couldn't really go on walks directly from the cottage itself, as it is on a main road with no pavement.
"Your description of being able to see the airfield from the rear garden was very inaccurate."
There is no possible way that you can see any part of the airfield. Owners very obliging pleasant stay other than key element.
"3rd visit since August (although 1st 2 visits were in No."
1). It's not that we have a lot of holidays - we have been using the cottage(s) as a base for house hunting in the area, and after the first visit it seemed that we wouldn't find better accommodation!
"Wonderful place the owners were very friendly and helpful I will be telling ..."
Wonderful place the owners were very friendly and helpful I will be telling family and friends about the place so hopeful they would have my family and friends stay there
"The cottage was perfect, spacious, light and had everything we needed."
Mary and Tony are lovely hosts who are ready to help with anything you may need, they've worked really hard to make it the way it is. The cottage feels like you are away from our all but is close to so many things. We'd really recommend staying here.. and it was perfect for our toddler too.
