  • "A lovely, peaceful place to stay with wonderful views."

The cottage was comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. The owners are friendly and welcoming but not obtrusive. Arriving to find fresh flowers, the lights on and music playing - plus kitchen supplies and treats, was much appreciated.

Lots of unexpected extras provided and much appreciated. The views and surrounding countryside are stunning. So quiet and peaceful and so blissfully remote.

  • "An amazing place in an absolutely beautiful and peaceful setting."

Lower Barn was the cleanest place we have ever stayed in and the added bonus of some treats left for us was very welcome. We cannot recommend this place highly enough if you want peace, quiet and tranquility.

  • "I had a lovely stay at Lower Barn."

It's a very peaceful place to be, with wonderful surroundings and ample private parking. I was there through a really cold snap and the log fire and additional logs from Ben and Linda were needed and thoughtful and made the evenings very cosy. As other guests have mentioned, the stairs are steep, so not for everyone but I felt also added to the charm of staying in the barn. A really nice place to be. The only thing that would have given it a superb all round would have be the addition of a washing machine, esp if there on a longer week stay. But It's not a deal breaker and I wouldn't hesitate staying there again.

  • "We had a wonderful 3-night stay at Lower Barn."

The accommodation was excellent, superbly clean and a beautifully renovated property. The owners were lovely and really helpful, and the surroundings are stunning (we were escorted back home one evening by one of the deer from the surrounding woods). Would highly recommend.

  • "The barn was an imaginative and very comfortably furnished conversion."

Sofas and beds were excellent and all linens of good quality. The welcome pack was generous and the owner helpful and unobtrusive. Location of the property was peaceful with superb views. The village of Peterchurch, a 10 minute drive away, was attractive and offered all that we needed. The area is excellent for walking and we enjoyed some good hikes. The approach lane to the cottage is very rough and potholes need attention.

Thank you Diane for taking the time to write a lovely review. The track absorbs an immense amount of our maintenance but after harvest, we do find it needs still more work. Sorry you coincided with that. The track is shared access and (ironically) belongs to HRH. Property Owner

  • "Delightful property and owner."

We so enjoyed our few days here and didn't want to leave! Everything so luxurious and high quality, spotlessly clean. Very spacious, airy, and well thought out. There are two staircases at each end of the property leading to each bedroom with its own bathroom, the double bedded room has a bath and the twin room has a shower. The beds were supremely comfortable with gorgeous bed linen. It was so quiet and peaceful, approached by a long track, so well off the main road. Lovely views, there is a small gravelled sitting area at the front and then a grassed area with picnic bench near where you park the car. Our lovely hostess thoughtfully left us some groceries which were very welcome after a tiring journey, plus a gorgeous flower arrangement. Very comfortable sitting room and dining room, well equipped kitchen. Please note though that the quirky staircases are very steep and you need to take care, but we soon got used to them and they were no problem for us. It's well placed between Hereford and Hay on Wye and also convenient for the Brecon Beacons, so a good area to stay too.

Stunning cottage and location, and helpful and thoughtful owners. We don't often give much feedback but, on this occasion, thought it worthy of doing so.

  • "A lovely welcome to a wow-factor barn set in lovely countryside with spectacular views from the door."

.. we enjoyed our stay very much. Everything in Lower Barn has been carefully chosen, the beds are comfortable and we enjoyed the log-burner in the evenings. We'd happily go back as it was such a relaxing break. Walks by the Wye and in the Golden Valley, gardens, historic attractions, the Brecon Beacons, Hay's restaurants and Hereford Cathedral's Mappa Mundi are all in easy reach.

Thank you so much Kate, Herefordshire has so much to offer and I’m really glad you enjoyed Lower Barn . I hope you saw the hares in the garden. They normally stay all summer! We hope we’ll see you again. Property Owner
