Yet there was left over washing up liquid and hand soap. The clock in the lounge wasn't working, and several light bulbs had blown. There was no kindling or logs for the wood burner, though they had been promised.

The Belling range in the kitchen was beautiful, but the instructions were not. Eventually I telephoned Christine and was given short shrift. She told me "couldn't I use my wristwatch to tell the time and didn't give me any help regarding light bulbs, batteries or wood". However she must have thought about how she had NOT helped me and later I got a text message telling me where I could find batteries and light bulbs, and she was sure I would cope with the range".
The steps up to the main bedroom were decidedly dodgy, though how you would rectify them I don't know. They were not mentioned in the description of the Lodge. My husband is disabled and the steps did present a problem for him. The twin room was needed for the rest of our party.
We loved the location of the cottage. It was peaceful and really pretty.
