“The cottage was really warm and cosy, with lovely views into the surrounding countryside from almost everywhere.”

It was super clean and well equipped - we loved the amazing cooker with a great induction hob and huge ovens. The beds were very comfy and the woodburning stove worked well. It's a short walk into Hay along the road (past the Co-op supermarket which is very handy) or a slightly longer one across the fields. Great wildlife too - there were herons and red kites in the field just next to the cottage! There is Sky TV and wifi, and although the internet was quite slow we still managed to stream ...

There is Sky TV and wifi, and although the internet was quite slow we still managed to stream films with no problem. The water pressure in the shower was quite low, but it was nice and hot. We very much enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return.

The property

Lower Moor Lodge, is a truly cosy cottage located on the edge of the famous market town of Hay on Wye - world famous for its historic and literary connections.

The cottage, which is over 200 years old and once the lodge to the Lower Moor Manor, has a wealth of period features throughout, including original flagstone, lead mullion windows, wooden flooring and the all important wood burning stove!

Inside, the house is light and bright, perfect for a family of four, with two good sized bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen plus Dining Room and Living Room .

All rooms have views across the countryside which surrounds the building.

The style is welcoming with a clever mixed of the old with new and modern touches to bring it up to good standard, we found it to be a very charming home.

Surrounding the house is a lovely garden with various benches and tables to enjoy the fresh air.

The property is located on the English side of the Welsh/English boarder, about 10 mins walk from the centre of Hay, which has a wide and attractive selection of shops, cafes and restaurants.

(Hay on Wye is a world renowned for its book festivals and book shops NB: 'Hay Festival' is charged at Xmas rates
