  • “The owners were very welcoming and we appreciated the welcome pack (milk, tea, coffee, etc) and we can thoroughly recommend the home-made brownies!”

The accommodation was clean and comfortable and we enjoyed some lovely walks. We would very happily return.

The property

The Granary is a quaint, detached cottage, opposite the owner’s house, in the hamlet of St Margarets near to the village of Peterchurch with its pub and village shop, in rural Herefordshire.

This property has been comfortably furnished to provide a lovely romantic retreat to enjoy the wonders of this fascinating part of the country.

The cottage is made up of an open plan living area with plenty of seating as well as a well-equipped kitchenette with its own table and chairs, making a great social place to prepare and enjoy some lovely romantic meals.

Up the spiral staircase takes you to a spacious master bedroom with en-suite facilities.

There is a Velux window here with some fantastic views of the fields and the countryside beyond.

To the outside of the cottage is access to the wonderful extensive garden filled with unusual plants and shrubs and an orchard filled with daffodils and snowdrops in spring.

With its own furniture and barbecue, this is a great spot for some alfresco dining whilst enjoying the sunshine.

There is also access to the owner’s small swimming pool (available May to September).

From the top of the garden, there are wonderful panoramic views across a field of narcissi and down the Golden Valley to the Malvern Hills in the distance, making a totally peaceful setting.

Home grown fruit and vegetables are available to purchase from the owners in season and there is also a small plant nursery on site.

There are plenty of walks and paths to follow from the doorstep, with some great woodland and countryside to explore.

A short distance takes you into the village of Peterchurch which boasts a local shop, two pubs and one restaurant.

Slightly further afield is the well-known market town of Hay-on-Wye where you can browse the myriad of bookshops and relax with your purchases in one of the many cafes and restaurants.

The ancient city of Hereford is a little further away which boasts a magnificent cathedral and a medieval bridge over the River Wye.

The surrounding countryside has a wealth of footpaths to explore with the Black Mountains only five miles away with the Offa's Dyke Path, and the Herefordshire Trail and Wye Valley walks nearby, or for the more energetic head for the hills of the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Whatever you decide to do, The Granary is ideal for a memorable holiday at any time of the year.
