“Our first holiday in over a year could not have been at a better place. The Old Vicarage was a perfect place for our family of four (with two young boys, 2 and 6 years old) to relax and unwind, in a covid-safe manner. The property itself is beautiful and impeccable. Beautiful, massive gardens with lovely play equipment for the kids and stunning valley views make it a relaxing setting. Inside the sheer space, well equipped modern kitchen, tastefully done rooms with outstanding views and well-stocked bathrooms made our stay easy. Elwyn was super helpful in addressing our Covid-safety related questions. He shared all the useful information in a simple manner and helped with suggestions for local walks that were suitable to do with young children. He even nudged us to use the hot tub, and we are so thankful for that! There was plenty to do around the house itself, and lovely walks were our highlight. And while you are there, you must visit Hay-on-Wye as well as Abergavenny (we did the walk up Sugar Loaf) - both Elwyn's suggestions. We loved our stay. It was the kind of holiday where we lost track of time, and came back feeling like we had been away for ages, when it was actually only 6 days! Thank you.”

Hay-on-Wye 10 miles; Hereford 12 miles.

The village of Peterchurch, with its handful of pubs and restaurants, is situated on the River Dore in the beautiful Golden Valley, flanked by the Black Mountains to the west and gentle hills to the east. Just 10 miles away is the wonderful market town of Hay-on-Wye, famous for its 30-plus book shops, excellent pubs, restaurants and antique shops, making it one of the most visited tourist attractions in Wales. Surrounded by pastureland and woodland, covered in primroses, violets, celandine and bluebells during spring, the village is also close to the Offa's Dyke and Wye Valley walks. The epitome of picturesque England, the ancient city of Hereford lies 12 miles away and dates back to the 7th Century, boasting a magnificent cathedral, the famous 'chained library', and a medieval bridge over the winding River Wye. A great location with plenty to see and do for all the family.
