  • "This is a beautiful cottage, sensitively restored and furnished with lovely antiques."

We loved the well stocked kitchen/dining room overlooking the old castle grounds - the garden gate takes you straight there without having to walk on pavement - and the cosy sitting room. The bedrooms are beautifully furnished and the bathroom is roomy and relaxing. An amazing base for a holiday in this famous village with its timber framed houses and cottages.

Thank you Sarah for your appreciative review and I hope you can visit again. Property Owner

  • "This is a beautiful cottage in a lovely village that has everything you need."

The big bonus for us was being able to go out of the back gate into the castle mound, you can walk for miles in fabulous scenery. The cottage is of an age where there is not a straight wall or floor with quirky features, going to the bathroom is a bit of a challenge. If you have any mobility issues take care but as long as you know and take your time you will be fine. I loved looking at the art work and pottery decorations, it’s like a little art gallery. Very well equipped, everything you need. The television is a smart tv so limited viewing. If you have Netflix or similar you can log on but otherwise it’s mainly iPlayer. Weobley has good pubs and restaurants, we can recommend the Indian takeaways. The Green bean cafe made us very welcome for breakfast. So much to do in the area, if you love walking this is the place to come to. Our dog was also very sad to come home, he also had treats in the welcome pack which is so kind. And thank you for getting a birthday present I had left behind to a friend in the village, I only realised when I was half way home.

Thank you for your helpful review Alison and I am glad you all enjoyed your stay at Stone Cottage. A TV ariel has just been fitted so you can now watch terrestial television too. Property Owner

We lived the walks in the surroundings and the garden was nice. Everything you need is there. We love to come back. Nice welcome with bread and milk and some snacks for the dog.

I am so glad you enjoyed your time in the cottage and the surrounding area, it is a beautiful part of the word. Property Owner

  • "Cottage was lovely."

The enclosed garden was a nice surprise as wasn’t expecting it due to limited pictures on Sykes website. My family live locally and we love Weobley so would def recommend the cottage. Also a nice surprise to find bread milk and some treats waiting for our dog. Thank you so much.

Had a lovely week in Stone Cottage very clean with comfy beds but a few health and safety issues could do with a mixer tap in bathroom sink as the water is dangerously hot and a rail up the top stairs as very steep, our dog loved it lovely location except for the noisy traffic

Thank you for your feedback Sheila. I am glad you had a lovely time at Stone Cottage. Thank you for highlighting that the water is too hot. I have checked it and unfortunatley it had been turned up to maximum, so I have remedied this. The other issue you mentioned regarding the narrow top stairs is warned about in the description and is not changeable unfortunately. It is a very old building and the top stairs are too narrow to have a secondary rail and maintain access. I hope you will re- visit. Property Owner

It is a quirky cottage with comfy, homely feel. I did not want to leave, and would love to go back.

  • "We stayed here for a week over Christmas and loved the quirky nature of this cottage, with all its nooks and crannies and its foibles…."

.we were challenged with the door locks on some occasions (probably user error!). The cottage was very comfortable and cosy, well equipped and with good wi-fi but limited TV access, but there was a library full of DVDs to choose from. It was perfectly located for countryside dog walks, leaving from the back gate and finding numerous trails which Sir Winston (pet pooch) loved exploring. Before we came we purchased a Treasure Trail taking in Weobley and other local villages which was a great way to explore the local area. The village itself was very quaint with a shop, two pubs and a few cafes, all within a few minutes walk. We would definitely recommend Stone Cottage, it was lovely and made for an enjoyable Christmas.

Thank you for your feedback Angela, I am glad you enjoyed your stay at our cottage. People often appreciate the fact that it is a C16th listed property which means it is characterful. I am always happy to hear that a pet has particularly enjoyed the stay because of the immediate access to the castle mound and surrounding walks. I hope you will all come again. Property Owner

  • "We stayed at this wonderful cottage for 5 nights."

It is placed perfectly in the village, close enough to the little co op shop pubs and market square. I stayed here with my mum and dad and our big dog Belle. Plenty of room for everyone. The rooms were decorated beautifully. Ever night we used the kitchen to cook dinner; the dishwasher and washing machine helped us to feel right at home. We did worry if we would be able to get internet connection, to our suprise the internet was super fast and the smart TV was great for movies in the evening. We had a lovely stay, we hope we can come again soon.

Thank you Stephanie for your feedback. I am so glad you had a lovely time and that Stone cottage suited you and your family and that you had a good holiday. Merlys Property Owner

  • "Cottage was lovely."

We loved the old features, bread oven etc. Lovely welcome surprises too. Property was clean and had everything we needed. Only suggestions would be a to securely fence the garden. Our little dog was able to escape under the gate. Wouldn't be a problem for a larger dog

Thank you Caroline, I am glad you enjoyed your stay. I am sorry your dog could get through under the gate, I will endeavor to find a way to make the gap smaller. Thanks again for your feedback and I hope you come again. Merlys Property Owner

  • "This was one of the most beautiful cottages we've ever stayed in!"

The photos - although lovely - don't do it justice at all. And it was comfortable, clean and homely with everything we needed. We were touched by their gift for our dog plus the dog bowl supplied, as well as the welcome treats for us humans too. Thank you! The garden was ideal for relaxing with the pup or eating al fresco and we loved the castle grounds accessible from the back garden. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a home from home in a beautiful village (which was very friendly too!).

  • "Stone cottage is a lovely old cottage."

On our arrival everything was clean and tidy, a few essential items were kindly left to tide us over in case we arrived after the local shop is closed. There are a few things in our opinion that would have made our stay a lot better, the television is smart tv only and could have done with some instructions. The ceramic cooker hob would only let you use one ring at a time, which makes it hard to cook a meal. The steep stairs to the first floor could benefit from a hand rail, needed especially when coming down. The shower could also benefit from some hand holds around the wall above the bath and an anti-slip mat in the bath, as it is very slippery when having a shower The rear garden was a very pleasant place sit and relax, with everything you needed for a pleasant stay. The road at the front of the cottage gets very busy at most times and we noticed that a lot of cars parked on the pavement had some kind of damage to them on the outside that could have been caused by passing traffic, for that reason we parked our car down in the village, which a just a few minutes’ walk back to the cottage. There are two pubs in the village where we spent a few very pleasant evenings. The guest information book, we feel, should contain a contact number in the event of an emergency in the cottage and it would certainly benefit the guests to provide instructions on how to operate the TV.

Thank you for your comments. I would like to mention that that there is a contact number provided on the first page of the welcome book and Sykes are available 24/7 if you experience any problems. If you book with us again we would be happy to assist should you need it. We have now provided instructions for the TV and we checked the hob after your departure and it was in working order. Thanks again for your feedback. Property Owner

  • "We had a very enjoyable stay in a delightfully quirky, ancient, spacious cottage and the owner was very helpful and responsive when required."

The cottage was comfortable and homely with everything we needed (particularly in the kitchen) and very well placed for Hereford, Leominster, Ludlow and Shrewsbury, with the Brecon Beacons just under an hour's drive away as well. There were multiple walks available direct from the cottage, too, and a plentiful variety of books and DVDs to hand.
