  • "The only problem was finding the cottage no clear sign."

Walked up and down sometime before finding the cottage. The picture of Wolverton is a bit misleading. Also there is no parking in front or opposite the property. However there is a free car park on the green

  • "I think it is unfair not to have made it clear in the information about the cottage that if you arrive at the cottage by car you cannot unload your belongings at the doorstep."

We had to carry our bags from the car park in the middle of the village a good 100 yards from the cottage. Every day if you go out in your car it is a gamble as to where you will be able to park the car when you return to the village as the car park is often full.

  • "A lovely cosy cottage with everything I needed for relaxing holiday."

Thought has been out into every aspect, excellent.

  • "The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable."

Unfortunately on arrival there were indications that it had not been thoroughly hoovered (peanuts on the floor). The TV reception was terrible and the bathroom light didn’t work. It would have been nice to sit in the garden but the garden furniture was in a poor state... not up to the standard of the inside of the cottage. I do think this was an expensive break at this time of year..

  • "Lovely place to have a break with the beach within walking distance."

The cottage had all the facilities we needed and the welcome pack was very much appreciated. The only problem was the parking. A bit of a walk to the car park especially for loading and unloading.

  • "A very well-kept property, well situated and well appointed with almost everything one could need."

A note in the welcome pack about where to find the cutlery would be helpful, as would a shelf in the shower to put the soap. Apart from that, I had a very nice time and the cottage was a nice place to come back to after a day's walking.

About the location

ST HELENS

Bembridge 2 miles; Ryde 5 miles.

The village of St Helens lies in a coastal position on high ground, on the eastern side of the Isle of Wight, between Bembridge and Seaview. St Helens is a traditional English village, with the village green at the centre of village life, providing cricket and football pitches, a children’s playground and superb views right across Bembridge Harbour and Culver Down. The village also offers superb restaurants, pub, newsagent, Post Office and grocery store. A short walk takes you to The Duver, an NT area of shingle and sand, and once the site of a Royal links golf course. The beach here is very family friendly, with sand and shingle, perfect for making sandcastles and collecting seashells as well as crabbing off the Bembridge Harbour Causeway. There is the popular Baywatch Café, with all the amenities you need for the perfect day at the beach, and stunning views of the Solent and St Helens Fort. The fort was built to protect Portsmouth from a French invasion between 1867 and 1880, and at the lowest tide of the summer, there is a mass walk of up to 2000 people from the beach out to the fort and back again, with driftwood fires and barbecues.
