It's a twenty minute walk into the centre of Bembridge, well worth it for the food shops - the best fishmonger and butchers I've come across. So good I'm going back in Sept. The house itself is beautifully presented, simple coastal style. It is small you couldn't easily fit four adults in there, but perfect for one or two and possibly two young kids. A few odd things let it down: the wifi reception isn't strong enough for the television to work it pixellates constantly (which some may see as an advantage?). The heating came on in just one of the bedrooms and then only at 8am, the duvet in the main bedroom was a very lightweight summer one, which meant it was so cold we slept in fleeces. It's the only house I've every rented which doesn't supply any information about the house or the area. As a result I didn't know when to put out the rubbish (needless to say there was several weeks rubbish in the large bins at the side of the house).

The property

Coast Watch Cottage is a magnificent place to base your holiday, in an exclusive part of Bembridge, with the coast just a 2 minute walk away.

Plan a seaside trip for two to four people, enjoying the clear water and sandy beach, or make the most of the walking, cycling, sailing opportunities on offer to fill your day with enjoyment.

Once you have explored the beautiful surroundings, return to this charming cottage, and its elegant interior, which is graced with comfy furnishings and an abundance of style.

The open-plan living area is designed with a limestone floor and sash windows, including a dining table for four people and a sumptuous sofa where you can relax morning or evening.

Upstairs there are two double bedrooms and a bathroom with a generous shower.

Why not wake up to the beautiful location and spend some time in the enclosed courtyard, where you can pick and choose your secluded seating area.

Bembridge is appreciated as one of the most upmarket areas on the island and offers a surprisingly busy intertidal sheltered harbour, which in the summer is always full of pleasure crafts and fishing boats providing a constant flow of traffic to and from The Solent.

From the Coast Watch Cottage you will find quiet beaches consisting of sand and pebbles, perfect for swimming, beachcombing and crabbing, in high winds you will even see plenty of kite surfing activity.

The Crab and Lobster pub and restaurant and the beach bar cafe are both two minutes walk away from the cottage.

In the village of Bembridge there are three pubs all serving good food, as well as several cafes serving the village within a mile of the property.

Somewhere peaceful to truly get away from it all.

About the location

BEMBRIDGE

Ryde 7 miles; Newport 11 miles; Cowes 16 miles; Yarmouth 20 miles.

Bembridge sits on the most eastern point of the Isle of Wight, and it is claimed to be the biggest village in England. Bembridge used to be an island in its own right, and until the Victorian era, was a collection of wooden huts and farmhouses, hence Bembridge remains somewhat detached from the rest of the island even today, which adds to its charm. Bembridge is considered to be one of the most upmarket areas on the island and offers a surprisingly busy intertidal sheltered harbour, which is always full of pleasure crafts and fishing boats providing a constant flow of traffic to and from The Solent. From the harbour you will find quiet beaches consisting of sand and pebbles, perfect for swimming, beachcombing and crabbing and in high winds you will see plenty of kite surfing activity. As you walk along Bembridge beach, you will discover the lifeboat station, cafes and the famous Crab & Lobster Inn, as well as the magnificent Culver Cliffs as your backdrop. The village centre offers a good range of small shops, with its award-winning butcher's and 'The Best Dressed Crab in Town' which is situated in Bembridge harbour, you can also sample local produce from the greengrocer's, visit the art gallery and much more; in fact everything you should need while holidaying here.
