  • "The beds were comfortable and clean , generally very good and tidy."

The property needs some some small fan in bathroom, sink drainer ,mould on grout in the ensuite. Perhaps the old key safe should be removed as spent first hour trying to open it, before discovering it was in a different place. Location excellent, Crab & Lobster inn 2mins away, great food. Beach 5 mins away. Had a fab week.

  • "This is our second visit to the property, this time with a baby and a toddler."

We like the location and enjoyed strolling down to see the lifeboat. Area is lovely and quiet. Had a nice meal at the pub at the end of the road. Enjoyable, comfortable stay, house is well kitted out with kiddy equipment and is the perfect layout to keep an eye on them. We appreciated the welcome treats which were a nice touch this year. House didn’t seem quite as clean as last year, the downstairs floors could do with a good mop, our socks were filthy, not ideal for babies rolling around on the floor. The extractor fan in the en-suite isn’t working properly, we spotted silver fish in both bathrooms and the kitchen sink area has a strong smell of damp. Would be nice to have some clarification about the rubbish bins in the house manual. The recycling bin was almost full when we got there. We left it out all week in the hope it would be emptied but no collection made. Couldn’t find any pegs to hang out the washing so just ended up using the dryer. Overall a pleasant stay but these few issues in the house need addressing.

  • "Lovely property & we had actually spotted it last year on a walk & thought how nice it looked, it didn’t disappoint."

Everything we needed for a week away seeing family. Would definitely stay again

  • "Lovely cottage and would stay again, but a few points could be improved."

Instructions received in email contradicted the laminated instructions in the cottage. Could have done with instructions for tv remotes and what to do with recycling. Extractor fan in en suite not working so everything was so damp. Bath towels were tiny and a spare loo roll would have been nice.

  • "The house was immaculate everywhere."

Two small points. There were 4 remote controls but no instructions on use. One of the sofas was saggy and uncomfortable. The problem was overcome by using loads of cushions. Very close to the beach and a pub. Lovely place to stay and would book again.

  • "There was a laminated instruction sheet in the cottage and we also received an email the day before departure but both of the instructions contradicted each other."

One said vacate by 9am whilst the other said leave by 10am. There was a WiFi code on the instructions in the cottage and a different WiFi number on the email. So we had no WiFi on our mobiles for a week. The instructions in the cottage said do not strip the beds whilst the email said strip the beds and put in laundry bags provided. There were no laundry bags so we did not strip the beds. Two extractor fans were not working and we found both the settees very uncomfortable really passed their sell by date! Other than those issues the cottage is clean, beds were comfortable and it is very conveniently situated for touring the Island.

  • "Nothing went wrong just for the price I paid for the week I think the following should have been provided Welcome Pack even something to make a cup of tea with would have been great after a journey of over 230 miles."

Other holiday homes go out of their way to provide something even cakes wine There was nothing in the kitchen at all no washing up liquid dish washer tablets cleaning materials and the ones in the bathrooms beside the toilets were almost empty. The cupboard under the sink was a complete mess as was the cuboard under the starirs this does not help people keep things tidy I know it is getting to the end of the season but that is no excuse. The lay out of the kitchen cupboards are not that easy. The black household rubbish bin had not been emptied so unfortunatly we have had to leave two bags of rubbish at the side of the bin I did send an email to Sykes asking what to do about this prolem but no one got back to me. Plus side beds very comfy lovely linen and towels the property was larger that I expected and it a lovely area so all said above well worth another visit. Just some little things to be sorted.

  • "Generally we were impressed with the property and it contributed to making our holiday a pleasant and memorable experience."

In terms of value for money this property would not be top of my list as it is at the higher end of the scale for a non detached property with very limited parking. However I assume it is more competitively priced outside of the main season. Our two main issues were that the vehicular access is very tight and so you need to use the pub area in order to turn around which is sometimes congested. The other issue is that the property next door is dog friendly and we had an issue early on with dogs barking next door when left unattended. We resolved this ourselves as the neighbours did not want to inconvenience us but in other cases this could lead to problems when the neighbours use the pub for the evening and leave a dog indoors in a strange environment for long periods. In terms of general feedback the kitchen utensils were a little understocked and the wooden worktops were only superficially clean and a bit greasy to the touch. Other than that the cleanliness standards were 4 star plus. Overall I would rate this property as 4 star for quality and amenity and 3 star for value. The email alerts and general information received from Sykes Cottages was very good but suggest an email mid way during a holiday also to check on any issues such as those outlined above. We would use Sykes again but next time would phone one of your advisors for additional local information rather than relying only others rose tinted reviews. Many regards Steven and Anita

The cottage decor feels restful and it is comfortable and warm. We had everything we needed and the beds were extremely comfortable, there was also a really lovely garden area to enjoy with excellent quality garden furniture. We can recommend this cottage and don’t think that anyone would be in any way disappointed in it. We have found Sykes to be the best cottage company with great cottages to choose from and a simple booking process.

  • "Seasalt was the most perfect cottage imaginable."

Just a stone's throw from the beach (and an excellent pub!) and close to one of the prettiest villages on the island. It was spotless throughout and so tastefully furnished, with lots of touches that exceeded expectations - e.g. plentiful games, books, DVDs, a BBQ...the list goes on. All in all, it was a home from home - or even better than that - and we are already looking forward to coming back next year.

About the location

Ryde 7 miles; Newport 11 miles; Cowes 16 miles; Yarmouth 20 miles.

Bembridge sits on the most eastern point of the Isle of Wight, and it is claimed to be the biggest village in England. Bembridge used to be an island in its own right, and until the Victorian era, was a collection of wooden huts and farmhouses, hence Bembridge remains somewhat detached from the rest of the island even today, which adds to its charm. Bembridge is considered to be one of the most upmarket areas on the island and offers a surprisingly busy intertidal sheltered harbour, which is always full of pleasure crafts and fishing boats providing a constant flow of traffic to and from The Solent. From the harbour you will find quiet beaches consisting of sand and pebbles, perfect for swimming, beachcombing and crabbing and in high winds you will see plenty of kite surfing activity. As you walk along Bembridge beach, you will discover the lifeboat station, cafes and the famous Crab & Lobster Inn, as well as the magnificent Culver Cliffs as your backdrop. The village centre offers a good range of small shops, with its award-winning butcher's and 'The Best Dressed Crab in Town' which is situated in Bembridge harbour, you can also sample local produce from the greengrocer's, visit the art gallery and much more; in fact everything you should need while holidaying here.
