  • "We were pleasantly surprised by the new sofas in the living room which are better than those in the pictures on the website."

The single bedroom was not habitable because of the high heat from the large flue rising from the aga in the kitchen which was constantly hot. Fortunately, not all of our party was able to come, so we did not need to use that room. I think the house should be advertised as sleeping 6, not 7. The downstairs shower room could do with a makeover. We were pleased with the welcome pack from the owners.

Thank you for your feedback and for choosing the Mill house for your holiday. We welcome your comments and have reviewed the flue temperature which you mentioned. We had unprecedented UK weather recently and have turned the AGA down in case that caused the problem. It is normally just tepid to touch, and with the window open, the bedroom is at usual summer levels. The cottage sleeps 7 in four bedrooms and has been enjoyed by groups and families in the past four years, hopefully it will do so in the future. It was lovely to meet you all and we're pleased you enjoyed a relaxing break on the Isle of Wight. Property Owner

  • "Super property in an easy location for getting around."

Our only slight disappointment was the garden needs a bit of TLC to look as lovely as it does online. We'd definitely recommend it & stay again.

  • "A much looked forward to holiday, which fulfilled its promise in every way."

Tim and Jo are the most wonderful hosts. A lovely, cosy, comfortable cottage. Everything was catered for, including a tour of the old Watermill a restoration in progress. Although the lane to the cottage was single track we didn’t have any issues. Car parking for our large SUV was fine. There is a brilliant bus service from the end of the lane to The Needles in one direction and Newport (for interchange with other services around the island) in the other direction. Just don’t forget to sit on the top deck. For an excellent, reasonably priced meal out, try The Waterfront at Totland Bay, around 4 miles from the cottage. Do go there in the evening to catch the wonderful sunsets. We will be definitely returning.

  • "Brilliant spacious property."

Host was perfect and left essential provisions which really helped. We were 4 friends using all 4 bedrooms, dining room, watched movies, drank lots. Nowhere was far from the property and we traveled the whole island. Loved the property and would recommend it 100%

Owners very friendly and took the time to show us round the water mill and it’s history and workings. Would have no hesitation if recommending to family and friends and will be staying again.

It is in a unique, picturesque setting with historical interest as it was a working mill. The family are friendly and helpful. We had a very nice stay and would definitely return.

  • "We were personally met by the owner who showed us around the accommodation and answered our questions, they were both very friendly and gave great ideas for eating and days out."

The accommodation itself was beautiful, very cosy and comfortable with all the facilities you need for a relaxing break. We particularly enjoyed the location of the cottage, lovely and peaceful but yet everything we needed or wanted to do was only a short drive away. We would definitely want to stay here again and will recommend to friends and family.

  • "We had the most wonderful time exploring the island and our lovely hosts Jo and Tim were so welcoming, helpful and friendly with everything we needed on hand."

The Mill House is very well equipped and the lovely Aga great to cook on and warmed the house beautifully. The Mill House was an absolute delight and their two dogs Ziggy and Jackson made us especially welcome every time we returned "home" during our stay. The situation was very quiet and peaceful and we would be more than happy to recommend the Mill House unreservedly to friends and family and hope to return again.

  • "Lovely location."

Very warm welcome from Jo. Lower Calbourne Mill was very comfortable and well provisioned with the essentials such as tea, coffee, loo rolls, washing up things etc. Also plenty of milk and a delicious cake. There was plenty of wood for the log burner if needed and cooking on the aga was fun! I very much appreciated being allowed to recharge our electric car at the cottage. Thank you.

  • "Jo and Tim were very welcoming and were there if you needed them but not intrusive."

Their 2 dogs were friendly too. The accommodation is extremely light and spacious, beautifully furnished, the setting rural and peaceful with an idyllic view yet within a few minutes walk of an hourly bus service. There are designated footpaths from the doorstep if you enjoy your walking so the car stayed parked for several days. The Aga was easy to use and kept the kitchen/dining room cosy. The kitchen was well equipped with good quality appliances. With 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms the property would be ideal for families or friends to holiday together, giving space and privacy when needed. I would recommend a stay at Lower Calbourne Mill without reservation.
