  • "It is rare to find a holiday home suitable for six adults - the three double bedrooms were perfect for us over the Christmas week."

The Wash House was clean and cosy with the added bonus of the log burner and a Christmas tree made this week so special.

  • "Location was great and the home had everything you needed."

There is lots to do out and about. As we went on a very wet and windy week the heating and log burner proved to be a blessing. The owner was pleasant and I can find no faults with the holiday. The layout and rooms are brilliant. The cottage was very clean and welcoming. We didn't want to leave. The smaller downstairs bedroom had a couple of minor decorative issues but it's the end of the season and nothing that couldn't be sorted quickly in future. I would highly recommend this wonderful property. Parking is fine and there's extra parking if needed. Thank you for a great stay. It's a wonderful property. Date of experience: 09 November

Everything was spotlessly clean and the beds were really comfortable. We were sorry to leave as we had loved it so much but we would definitely return if we were coming with our family again.

We had a great week and visited lots of places on the island, the weather was glorious, which was a bonus. Had a problem with the shower door during our stay and many thanks to the owner who sorted it the same day and was very helpful. Would highly recommend this property.

  • "We had a great time at the Wash House."

It was in a brilliant location to pop to the beach regularly, but set back enough that you wouldn’t be bothered by any thoroughfare from other visitors. The beds were all very comfortable, the showers were powerful enough, and the bath was a lovely size to relax in. There was everything you could realistically want inside the property and out, and we ate in 50% of the week we were there. We liked it so much we’ve booked it for the same week next year!

  • "The Wash House was a lovely house to stay in, it’s the most expensive house that we have ever stayed in on the Isle of Wight!"

I was slightly disappointed by how close it was to other houses therefore it was quite noisy from surrounding houses, plus there was some building work going on from a house just up the path which was annoying at times. The house itself was very clean & very comfortable. The drive is quite tight to park on, a large car would struggle. An alarm clock or some sort of clock would be good in the master bedroom & a radio/music player would be good in the kitchen. And for the price you would expect a hot tub in the garden or just a little something extra.

Thank you for your comments and feedback. The Wash House description is accurate on the Sykes website including facilities provided. The holiday fell into the peak season and this is reflected in the Sykes pricing structure. There is additional parking for two cars adjacent to the Wash House( we will highlight this inside the house for future visitors) The building work on the house (at the top of the lane) mentioned is coming to an end but we are sorry that this caused some minor annoyance to yourselves We have recently upgraded the TV to a Smart TV which has access to Radio stations. Again thank you for your comments David & Jo Property Owner

  • "The property was excellent- everything there was just right - an excellent location and would recommend wholeheartedly."

The main problem arose due to our rehoming two dogs and the inability of the holiday company to move our location to a “dog friendly “ one, despite the fact that they were notified of this change just days after I had paid the balance of the holiday rental. Perhaps if they delayed the very speedy payment to the owner, we would have stood a chance of changing location and completing a full family holiday. Unfortunately it was my wife’s special birthday celebration which would have been far better if our daughter had been able to join us as was the whole purpose of our original booking.

Thank you for your kind remarks about our property and your wholehearted recommendation . Unfortunately , your overall mark of 81/100 is taken as a reflection on our property. We understand your frustration with the booking process but believe that these comments would have been better directed at Sykes. Property Owner

Very comfortable, well equipped, beautiful and clean. My only negative would be that there wasn’t a TV in the bedroom but that’s just personal preference as I struggle to sleep without noise. The bed was so comfortable it was like sleeping on a cloud. We would highly recommend this house, great value for money too!

  • "We had a lovely stay at The Wash House in Bembridge during August 2022."

It was a little tricky to find as it was tucked away on a bend behind some other houses, but when we eventually found it, we were very impressed from the first glance onwards. Upon entering and checking the property out we found the cleanliness to be excellent. The facilities and items within the house consisted of everything we could possibly need for our stay. We enjoyed exploring the Island and found plenty to do over the week, we especially enjoyed a meal at the Crab and Lobster down the road and evening walks along that little ledge of beach beneath. Thank you for having us.

  • "Lovely property."

We had a great time. Might have been useful to have a few more details about recycling bins. Our rules (in Suffolk) are completely different, e.g. we have to take glass to bottle banks. What was the small green bin above the bins in the kitchen cupboard meant to be used for? Also the property has a BBQ and a Bose Sound dock, not mentioned in the property description , these are both items we could have used if mentioned before our visit.

Hi Thank you for your positive feedback and we pleased that you had great time. We appreciate your feedback you left. We will update these details on our site as soon as we can. many thanks David & Jo Property Owner

Exceptionally clean, sparkling white linens and towels. Equipped beyond expectations. Highly recommended. Had the opportunity to meet the owner - very friendly and helpful. As an aside, don’t waste your time and money on visiting the nearby Crab and Lobster, for food at least. Inexplicably it gets top ratings for IOW restaurants whereas, in our experience, it was the worst in terms of food and service. On the whole, you cannot go wrong choosing the Wash House as a place to stay. Would definitely return.

About the location

BEMBRIDGE

Ryde 7 miles; Newport 11 miles; Cowes 16 miles; Yarmouth 20 miles.

Bembridge sits on the most eastern point of the Isle of Wight, and it is claimed to be the biggest village in England. Bembridge used to be an island in its own right, and until the Victorian era, was a collection of wooden huts and farmhouses, hence Bembridge remains somewhat detached from the rest of the island even today, which adds to its charm. Bembridge is considered to be one of the most upmarket areas on the island and offers a surprisingly busy intertidal sheltered harbour, which is always full of pleasure crafts and fishing boats providing a constant flow of traffic to and from The Solent. From the harbour you will find quiet beaches consisting of sand and pebbles, perfect for swimming, beachcombing and crabbing and in high winds you will see plenty of kite surfing activity. As you walk along Bembridge beach, you will discover the lifeboat station, cafes and the famous Crab & Lobster Inn, as well as the magnificent Culver Cliffs as your backdrop. The village centre offers a good range of small shops, with its award-winning butcher's and 'The Best Dressed Crab in Town' which is situated in Bembridge harbour, you can also sample local produce from the greengrocer's, visit the art gallery and much more; in fact everything you should need while holidaying here.
