  • "The property is extremely run down, the sofas are filthy, I had to cover them with blankets from our cars."

I was disgusted with them and there was no way my grandchildren were going to sit/lay on them uncovered. The patio doors were broken despite being reported a year earlier the carpets were dirty with very unpleasant looking stains, the balustrade on the balcony was broken in 2 places, just grateful I didn’t have a baby/toddler with us that could of fallen through and had an accident then this would have been a completely different ball game. There were spiders everywhere when we arrived some dead some alive. We encountered a slug in the kitchen and slime on the kitchen carpet. The beds were very comfortable however when we stripped them on leaving we realised 2 of the quilts were very old, one pillow had 8 pillowcases on it, plus a dead spider was under one of the sheets that had clearly been there for some time. There was no bulb in the outside light as you approached the entrance and as the paving slabs are so uneven and dangerous this was a must. The Wi-Fi was only available in one part of the lounge and I feel we were sharing with the people in the property joined onto ours. The outside patio furniture was rickety and needs to be updated ,as one chair had a broken slat which did give way while in use, there is no patio lighting ,there is a bare wire hanging out above the entrance door , they claim there is parking for 2 cars and that is correct however the person in the adjoining property had their car charging cable plugged in causing a restriction of access.I am very surprised this property is on your website as it is definitely not up-to your usual standard . We do have picture evidence to back all of this up.

  • "We really enjoyed staying here."

Very peaceful, amazing views, well maintained garden. A little lizard came and sunned himself on the decking every morning, and the bank beneath the bungalow was covered in glow worms in the evening!!

  • "The bungalow was comfortable and clean, although looking quite tired and needing some care and updating."

Great views and walks along coastal path. The main problem was the terrible smell coming from the kitchen area which affected the whole property. When I informed Penny she said it was the tank (septic tank??) under the kitchen floorboards which sometimes gets blocked and it was sorted the next day. Penny was lovely and helpful but unfortunately the smell did really spoil our stay.

Thank you for your feedback , it was very helpful and meant that we could resolve the issue as soon as we new about it. We do apologise and we have now put signs on all the toilets asking future guests not to dispose of wet wipes down the toilet which was the problem that caused the blockage. Property Owner

  • "Photos deceiving, the whole place is very tired, scum ring in bath, leaking shower, one broken bed, but as a party of 3 this wasn’t an issue for us, one kitchen door hanging, looks and feels internally like a caravan/chalet."

Front door is accessed via tradesman entry, around the back and uninviting. Sadly the only bit worth the price was the size. Very generous proportions. Shame we could hear the neighbour every time he went for a pee, their bathroom was next to our lounge/diner, and the walls are thin. It had a good layout once inside, and had it not been dated and worn would have been super, bedrooms were generous, and the linen was spotless, lounge furniture very dated, I’d say 80’s to 90’’s, but was serviceable, one of the double patio doors in the lounge couldn’t be opened (would have been lovely to bring the outside in) it looked as if the lock had been fused somehow and so permanently locked shut. They could also have benefitted from a clean on the inside. The decking is super tired and one of the planks was loose (potential trip hazard) also one of the posts in the decking fence was missing. The decking furniture also very worn and tired, would have been lovely to sit out but no umbrellas or shade at all so the patio was not used by us. We had some rain one day and next morning found stones from the 20’ ish wall on the alleyway pavement. Such a shame the property isn’t maintained better. Lastly we were happy to see the tennis lawn, sadly the ground is dangerously uneven, with a hole on one side. I fell quite hard. Excellent cooker, washer, microwave. Good sized kitchen, well equipped, but a few wooden spoons would be good, my adult sons bought men sized glasses and breakfast dish ,their choice, and left them there for the next party. I feel this property has huge potential and just needs tlc and updating in parts. Would I book again , only if updated and repaired. Currently in my opinion not worth the money.

  • "Beautiful view and lovely peaceful location The accommodation was quite dated and a bit shabby in places."

The kitchen could have been better equipped. It was generally comfortable with enough space and dining on the deck with the beautiful view of the sea was the highlight. Only having one shower was a difficulty with six people. The ‘hosepipe‘ contraption in the bathroom did not work! It would have been good to have storage for vacuum cleaner, ironing board etc instead of having them in corner of bedroom. Disconcertingly, mouse droppings appeared overnight and there was a strong odour in the kitchen. Access to the coastal path was great.

  • "One of our number has limited mobility, the path to the cottage could be better with level path and for the paving to be wide enough not to have to partialy use the loose chippings."

Also the bathing facilities were a little disappointing as the en-suite shower is very small and too high to get in if you struggle with your mobility and no shower over the bath which would be easy to install and make bathing options more flexible. We had an issue with a mouse which we think entered via a patio door left open, but then left drop[pings in the kitchen, & moved behind the kick-boards. owners supplied traps very quickly and the mouse was caught and disposed of. Stayed on farms before and never had this issue until this year. As mouse lived behind kick boards the kitchen needs a deep clean under the cupboards and to be honest needs some maintenance as one cupboard on a slope as floor seems to dip towards the door.

  • "We had a lovely time staying in Swifts."

Its bright & spacious living area was perfect for us and the views were fantastic. We were blessed with good weather so we enjoyed the peace and quiet to the full and the night skies were amazing. It would have been nice to have been able to open both sets of patio doors to allow the breeze in on hot afternoons. A thermostatic shower mixer tap over the bath in the main bathroom would be a really useful addition as we had to wait to shower until the main bedroom was clear. The bathroom floor looks rather in need of replacement. The rest of the accommodation was great especially the new carpet throughout which was lovely. There was a distinct drain aroma from the kitchen which was rather unpleasant and pervaded the whole living area and needs to addresses ASAP.

  • "Though we found accommodation clean and comfortable we were disappointed when we left a message on the phone for owner to contact us and our call was not returned."

Our concerns were regarding a mouse that visited every night around 11pm and ran around kitchen and living room. Though this did not worry is too much ,given we were on a farm, and knew to take precaution and wipe down work surfaces, we were concerned future families with babies crawling around the floor would be unaware this was happening.

  • "This is a beautiful cottage in a beautiful location."

It's a little away from the busy touristy areas so it's nice and quiet. Daytime sounds only, birds; night time noise, none! Very easy to get to all the attractions on the island, and some lovely drives through the country side between the various activity centres. There is something for all aged to do; a good mix of fun-parks for the youngsters and lots of historical stuff to take in. The whole island is beautiful and unspoilt and the beaches are all fabulous; very clean.

Bank End Farm Bungalows

Ventnor 2.3 miles. Two spectacularly positioned semi-detached coastal bungalows, both with breathtaking far-reaching coastal views across the English Channel, and set within the grounds of Bank End Farm, Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. With direct access through the farm onto the coastal footpath, you are only a short walk away from small coves and secluded beaches on the south coast of the island. Love and care has been put into these bungalows, with exposed beams throughout, together with numerous patio doors and windows allowing both the light and those stunning farmland and coastal views to spill in, creating a wonderfully peaceful and welcoming family environment. Both have been furnished to a comfortable standard, with Freeview TV, DVD players, books, games, DVDs and washing machines. Each bungalow has its own private decked balcony with table, chairs and barbecue, all positioned perfectly to fully appreciate the farmland and sea views. Both have shared use of the large gravelled and lawned rear garden area, with bench tables and climbing frame. There is plenty of off road parking, with two spaces each just outside of the bungalows. Directly from each of the bungalows, follow the buoys across the bridge and through the farmland, all the way to the coastal path to some stunning small coves, the most spectacular place for a picnic. The Undercliffe is famous for its Mediterranean climate, therefore enabling a wide variety of plants to grow all around. Just up the road Ventnor Botanic Gardens will be found, with its worldwide temperate and subtropical trees and shrubs. Throughout the year the Gardens hold many events and exhibitions to be enjoyed, as well as having a highly acclaimed café/restaurant. A few minutes’ walk along the coastal path will bring you to one of the islands hidden treasures, Steephill Cove, with its sand and shingle beach, and a row of fishermen’s cottages. Watch the small boats launch, hoping to catch crabs and lobsters for the locals. Some cottages have been converted into wonderful café restaurants, where you can sample their catch directly from the sea. These two bungalows can be booked separately for an individual family, or book both together for one of those memorable large family or friends gatherings.
