Overall this is a great place to stay. Location in the heart of Ventnor within easy reach of the town, eating establishments and the beach. I would recommend this accommodation but have a few comments to make. It wasn't as clean as it could have been, mainly cobwebs and a few sticky patches in the kitchen. Parking a bit odd, space but never sure if someone was going to park alongside thus restricting access, neighbours had trampoline right next to lounge doors so no escape from noise of kids and bouncing in hot weather, shower temperature in both showers massively affected by turning any tap on even slightly. However the upstairs accommodation was perfect for our 20 year old daughter as self contained, good storage, lovely carpet and furnishings.

“The building works going on within feet of the Coach House have clearly been in place for at least 20 months, possibly quite a lot longer.”

Nevertheless, your online photos of the property do not show any of this nor does your description make any mention of it. Given the very close proximity of the works, the materials and the scaffolding, this is deceptive to the point of sheer dishonesty. To park near the property, anyone with a long or wide car would find it treacherously difficult to squeeze between the scaffolding and the stone wall opposite. In addition, we were not told of the building works until the day before our arrival, giving us absolutely no real opportunity to consider or challenge the impact of what was suddenly being disclosed. As for your contention that there are two parking spaces in front of the Coach House, that's clearly nonsense. Given that we were staying at the property in November, we had no illusions that we would be spending any time in the property's garden or outdoor areas. However, the building works make this a clearly uninviting option. On the plus side, the property is in a good location relative to the seafront and town, and the inside of the property was clean & comfortable so we have no complaints on that score. Needless to say, we will not be using your services again nor will we recommend your company to anyone who may ask.

The property

Within the walled grounds of Ventnor’s Old Manor House, nestled under the protection of St Boniface Down, is this wonderful cottage.

Set moments from the heart of the wonderful Victorian seaside town of Ventnor on the south side of the Isle of Wight, this cottage provides an ideally-located holiday base.

Entering into a spacious hallway you immediately appreciate the attention to detail that has been added, with wonderful eye-catching touches to be seen throughout.

On your right you will find the master double bedroom, with its wonderful views of St Boniface Down, alongside the striking and spacious bathroom next door.

To your left, you will find the lovely open plan living area with a contemporary fitted kitchen, sitting and dining area with Smart TV and a patio door leading into the private, enclosed patio garden.

Upstairs is another double room, with a sloping ceiling that makes it ideal for one guest.

Opposite is a small sitting area with a galleried landing overlooking the sitting and dining area.

Outside, and to the front of the property, is a walled patio cottage garden with table and chairs, and lovely views of the manor house and St Boniface Down.

An eight minute walk will bring you to Ventnor Beach, which takes you to the coastal path, head left towards Bonchurch and Wheelers Bay or right towards Steephill Cove, either way you will discover some dramatic scenery, wonderful beaches and a fisherman or two selling their catch of the day.

Alternatively, for the more energetic, put on your walking boots and discover some of the most breathtaking views from the downs surrounding Ventnor, with its almost Mediterranean feel to the landscape.

There are holm oak trees and beautiful sparkling seas and, if you’re lucky, you can see the shoals of fish glistening exquisitely in the sun.

The perfect coastal town location, secluded but close enough to all amenities, this cottage can be enjoyed all year round.
