  • "We love old and historic buildings, so from that viewpoint, this was right up our street."

Great location, slap bang in the centre of Yarmouth. Very handy for the fabulous fish & chips next door! We arrived late on the Friday evening and were given the wrong set of keys by Hardy's. Also, rather reluctantly told that we were 'entitled' to 2 pints of milk. It's not what you say, it's the way....... The house was freezing and didn't seem 'guest ready'. All in all, a rather unwelcoming start. The low beams were a problem right from the get go and my husband nearly knocked himself out on a number of occasions. It was so bad we considered returning home early but we managed to better navigate things as the days went by. The little log burner was gorgeous but sadly very few logs were left for us to burn. Disappointing that we had to pay our own way to supplement the heating, as a few more logs would've gone a long way. I guess we weren't quite prepared for a winter break and assumed (wrongly) that the heating side of things would be taken care of. The week felt like a battle to stay warm as well as stay safe (from the beams). The kitchen was so cold, that we had to put the Aga stove on to help warm the room up, as there was no other mode of heating. In a nutshell, the overall stay was disappointing and I'm sure it would've been quite a different experience in the summer. I think it would take only a small effort to get this lovely cottage up to a winter stay standard, so please don't take my feedback as completely negative. The view from the master bedroom window was wonderful and was a joy to wake up to every morning. We're regulars to Yarmouth, and everyone is so friendly.

The cottage was cosy and had everything supplied that we could wish for. We enjoyed our stay so much that we have booked again for next year. It was definitely a home from home and we were very reluctant to leave!

Thankyou for your feedback lovely to hear you have enjoyed your Christmas break in Tovah! Look forward to welcoming you again next Christmas! Wishing you a Happy New Year! Property Owner

Great walking area and easy to get to other places. Nice view of the Solent from the balcony on top bedroom. Thank you to the owners for organising the parking permit.

Thankyou very much for your feedback. We also enjoy walking in the West Wight especially from Freshwater to the Needles over Tennyson Down. We look forward to welcoming you again soon. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage in a perfect location in Yarmouth town centre with all shops and facilities on your doorstep which was perfect for us in our favourite place on the island."

PRO’S Property was really nice inside with comfy furniture in the lounge area and all the modern facilities you would require such as WiFi and tv. Separate dining room from lounge that leads to kitchen which has everything you need and all modern appliances. Beds were comfy and the views from the top bedroom and balcony are fantastic looking at the sea and boats as you look to the right. The owner was helpful sending a welcome pack to us via email in advance and also organised a parking permit for us at their cost which was really appreciated to park nearby as there is no parking at the property. However I would say before 10am and after 6pm we established there is alternative parking nearby for free in the town centre near the Bugle pub as well which is around 50 yards away. CON’S Only downsides found with the property was the low beams in a couple of the bedrooms as you enter them and the top bathroom as my husband hit his head a few times (husband is just under 6 foot). However none of my other party hit their head so I would also put that down to my husbands clumsiness! We also had an older relative with us that did struggle with the stairs a little which although there are only a few steps they are quite narrow and on a bend with difficult located handrails but the rest of us adults and kids found the stairs no problem and there were no accidents thankfully. Overall a lovely weeks stay at a quaint cottage and we were considering to come back next year again (2024) had the week we wanted been available again. However we will certainly consider staying here again for a future holiday to the island if it’s still available.

We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. We agree care should be taken on tbe spiral staircase and the low beams on the top floor. We look forward to welcoming you again to stay in Tovah! Property Owner

Real little gem, in a perfect location close to the centre of Yarmouth. We only paid for the parking the first night, after this we were able to find parking spaces nearby in Y1 zone, which was a bonus. We had fantastic weather all week and watered the plants in the garden 3 or 4 times to help them survive the heat. Thanks for a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

The bedrooms all generous in size. I had the top room. What amazing views. The only negative was how cold the cottage was. I grew up in a old & cold house, but we all found it hard to stay warm. We did have a storm while we were there, I which wouldn’t have helped especially in the kitchen As the roof let’s a lot of cold air in. We did managed to find some heaters under the units which helped a little. Yarmouth is simply stunning and the house is well situated with everything on your doorstep! Literally,

  • "I found the central heating a bit erratic- it failed to come on until quite late and the evenings were quite chilly."

Then on one occasion it came on in the middle of the night. We were in the top bedroom with a beautiful view over the water but although we were aware the stairs might be a challenge at our age we found the narrow winding staircase and steepness of the stairs were difficult. The cottage itself was very nice and the position in the centre of Yarmouth was ideal- close to the shops, ferry and pubs. Unfortunately whether it was because it was relatively late in the season, or the impact of Covid, several of the food outlets were closed.

Thankyou for your feedback the gas central heating is based on a Nest thermostat and fully adjustable to suit your needs. The default settings have been extended to address your feedback. Property Owner

  • "Tovah is in an excellent location in the middle of Yarmouth."

Parking is a problem generally but the permits help, except you never know which local street you will be parked on. The house is surprisingly spacious with a large well equipped kitchen and a great sea view from the upstairs master bedroom. The 2 problems with the house is the steep spiral staircase, not too easy for the elderly, and the erratic central heating which keeps turning itself down. Very annoying when the weather is cold. Yarmouth is a great location as a village by the sea with its own car ferry service. There are good shops and pubs within a few minutes walk. We would certainly go back.

  • "Good;- spotless, nice and warm, very comfy bed ,well equipped and spacious."

Bad;- The fridge was not switched on, an inconvenience for most but for me panic inducing as I am on medication that needs to be refrigerated. Glad the shop was open to buy bottles of milk to keep it cool until the fridge cooled down. There were only 4 days of parking permits left out, despite a call to Sykes it was not sorted although they did try. We eventually found more in an envelope addressed to the owner in the cupboard under the breakfast bar. The living room furniture should be replaced,we had to put some scatter cushions under the sofa cushions to support them. The front door rim lock plays up making entry difficult.

The only issue we had was with the keys. There was a definite knack to getting them to work!

Thank you for your feedback. Pleased you had a great time at our Cottage. Thank you for the information regarding the lock, we have now fitted a brand new one to rectify this. Look forward to seeing again. Many thanks Property Owner

  • "The furniture in the cottage is seriously lacking, you can see as soon as you walk into the lounge that the furniture needs replacing."

There was no stuffing left in the seat cushions on the sofa and chairs so we were sitting on the frame for a week. The rest of the cottage was lovely with plenty of grocery, cutlery and saucepans in the kitchen. It was also very difficult to keep the cottage warm as the heating was not easy to keep on. You have to keep adjusting the thermostat to get heating to come in as it reverts back to its previous setting every couple of hours.

We are sorry you had issues with the central heating, we would have been happy to help you if you had contacted us, however recently we have fitted a new Nest thermostat which should be easier to use and control the temperature you require going forward. Regarding the sofa and chairs in the lounge, the seat cushions need puffing up occasionally, so we have instructed the cleaners to do this prior to each booking going forward. Many thanks for your feedback. Property Owner

There was a water leak in the main bathroom above the mirror but we did experience heavy rain. Our first week was quite cold in the cottage . The central heating was programmed, so didn’t activate. We would certainly use this cottage again. It would be worth pointing out that the two flights of stairs are extremely steep and open which may be a problem for some.
