“I would have, without any hesitation, given a score of 5 but for the issue we experienced with the water board digging up the road immediately outside the cottage.”

Admittedly, that was totally outside the control of both the owner or Sykes Holiday Cottages, but it did detract from the complete enjoyment of the cottage. The matter was in any event speedily resolved to my satisfaction, with no problems.

It was extremely well presented having presumably only recently been upgraded and decorated and the standard was first class

The property

Nestled on a quiet side road is a quaint semi-detached cottage, situated right next to Broadstairs high street and seafront, Kipper Cottage is the perfect resting spot for a family of four to spend a memorable holiday to the South of England.

This delightful old Fisherman's Cottage opens up to a cosy living room/diner area, where you can drop down your bags and settle in on the sofa with a glass of wine whilst the kids sink into bean bags chairs and watch a film on the TV.

Enjoy family meals on the intimate dining table, prepared from the lovely kitchen, a modest area fitted with all the cooking essentials you may need during your stay.

Resting behind is a small enclosed courtyard with a handy outhouse for extra storage and a handy washing machine.

Retire upstairs to the quirky mezzanine bedroom, containing a glorious king-size bed, with a privacy screen between a great bunk-bed for the children, an ideal room for families with smaller children who you need to keep an eye on.

Adjoined to this room is a sleek en-suite bathroom where you can take your pick from a soothing bubble bath or a quick shower, welcomed by a toasty towel from the heated rail.

Broadstairs high street is right on the cottages doorstep, a vibrant town often referred to as The Jewel in Thanet's Crown, where you can browse around a wealth of independent shops, retail stores, supermarkets and more, or spend an evening away from the kitchen at one of the many pubs and restaurants.

A quick stroll leads you over to Viking Bay, a quirky marina with a stunning sandy beach, and fun-filled promenade.

Set along cobbled streets and historic buildings, Broadstairs has exciting family-friendly activities and attractions including a lovely period cinema, mini golf, and a cute teddy bear hospital, with Dreamland Pleasure Park just a short journey away.

Explore the nearby seaside towns of Ramsgate and Margate, with Ramsgate boasting the UK's sole Royal Harbour, and Margate offering a kitsch experience of the English seaside and the captivating Turner Contemporary gallery.

Travel further afield to the famous White Cliffs of Dover, visit Dickens World in Chatham, or take a train over to the capital city of London for a cosmopolitan day out to England's tourist playground.

If it's good enough for Charles Dickens, it's good enough for you, choose Kipper Cottage as your base for a fantastic trip to Broadstairs.
