  • "We loved our holiday at Timbers."

The space is fantastic! Well situated to go to many places, and only a short stones throw from a great pub! There are many amazing things about this place but for us there were one or 2 small issues. At the time there were some plumbing issues. The flush on the main toilet was so poor that we had to continually use a pot of water to flush the toilet. Also, the shower was a little temperamental. The beds were very comfortable, however, we found the sofas not to be. Overall a great find!!

Thank you for your feedback. The owner has since fixed the plumbing issues, kind regards Sykes cottages Property Owner

  • "Nice bungalow with a spacious, private garden, which we enjoyed."

The house was, as described. A fully functional working kitchen, which was great if you want to cook. There isn’t anything around apart from a pub unless you want to drive a couple of miles into town. We did have a takeaway from the pub one day, which was good. The house was cleaned to a satisfactory standard, a few cobwebs here and there though. We could not use the shower over the bath, which was suitable for my youngest as it was too hot and would not cool down enough even when adding cold water. The children slept in a nice room with two single beds. The only problem with this room is that I t leads directly into a workshop/shed, which was stored with old paints, tools, etc and had a damp smell. Although the workshop/shed is locked I would have preferred a lock on the bedroom door as well. This made me feel a bit uneasy about the kids being in there. I was glad we brought the baby monitor, which allowed us to keep an eye on them during the night. The owners should consider adding a lock to the bedroom door just for security and peace of mind. A bit of misleading information at the property though. The owners displayed some information with house rules, one of them saying to leave by 11.00am so we thought we’d leave between 10-11am. At 10.30am, the lady owner came by, walked around the house, realised we were there but instead of knocking she just let herself in, said nothing and proceeded to clean. I told her about the information in the kitchen, saying it said to leave by 11am and apologised to her. She was a bit off but said it was their fault as they needed to change that. She continued to clean and asked if I minded her cleaning as we were getting ready to leave, I did but said it was fine as she had already let herself in and started to do it. I felt it was a bit rude to just let yourself in as she knew we were there and should have knocked first even if there was a misunderstanding and inconsistency about the leaving time.

Thank you for your feedback! Its important to us and we have since made improvements to the property, regards Sykes cottages. Property Owner

  • "Cottage is in a beautiful location in the woods."

Lovely and private. It would benefit from a little makeover both in the garden and the house. The pub a few hundred yards away was very nice, good food, good service, definitely an added bonus.

Sevenoaks 4.4 miles; Royal Tunbridge Wells 13.4 miles; London 33.5 miles.

Ide Hill is the highest village within the beautiful Kent landscape, offering a superb base for exploring this part of South of England with London situated just over an hour away. Within the village, you will be delighted to find a community shop and a pub, whilst slightly out of the village centre is the Pheasant Plucker, which serves excellent, locally-sourced food. From the village, you will find great walking opportunities, including following the Greensand Way, a path the crosses the bottom of the valley and a gentle brook, before offering breath-taking panoramic views over the Weald. Within the surrounding area, there are plenty of great things to see and do, including the National Trust property of Knole, the National Trust property Chartwell, the much-loved family home of Winston Churchill and the double-moated 13th century Hever Castle, the childhood home to Anne Boleyn, along with many more stately homes. Wildlife spotting opportunities are in abundance here too, with the Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve and Willows Birds of Prey & Wildlife Trail nearby, whilst the Kent Life attraction offers 28 acres of countryside to explore, ideal for families of all ages.
