  • "We knew that the cottage would be small, have low ceilings and an awkward little staircase."

These are all things we would expect in an old cottage. The compact kitchen and bathroom were modern and clean. We were however disappointed by the lack of storage, the lack of decent heating, (2 heated towel rails, a couple of fan heaters and a noisy air conditioning unit), flooring that looked like marine ply that had been patchworked together, covered by a series of grey rugs and stacking mains socket adapters that had quite a few things already plugged into them. It did not make for a cosy cottage experience. It was such a shame as the cottage has the potential to be a lovely cosy hideaway in a pretty East Sussex village.

  • "It is a lovely property in a great location in the middle of ticehurst next to the church and a short walk to the fantastic Bell pub."

It is small but the space is very well designed to make staying there a very enjoyable experience. Good kitchen and bathroom facilities and a very comfortable bed albeit with awkward access for one partner. Low beams and small spaces mean it's probably not appropriate for anyone with mobility problems. We loved our stay, thankyou.

  • "The cottage was lovely albiet smaller than expected, in a very nice location."

Negatives? The clothes storage area is insuffient but could be easily remedied. The stairs are narrow and curved and as stated in the booking information not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. Found them difficult as a mobile person.

  • "Ticehurst is well situated for National Trust properties nearby towns and villages."

Good amenities in the village, excellent mini market, pub and a great Indian takeaway. Whilst the cottage was comfortable and had all we needed, it did get very hot upstairs and the very low doorways were an issue on several occasions. We very much enjoyed our stay and found the surrounding countryside and it’s architecture beautiful.

  • "Elsie contacted us."

That was really warm and welcoming. The village is fun and friendly. The cottage was fully equipped sorry really well equipped. My big problem was that I am 6ft tall. I kept clonking my head. that stopped after three days but then I relaxed and did it again. I loved the green colour Elsie had selected and the clever choice of sink and drainer, chopping board combination. For many holiday makers the big bonus was the wide selection of frozen foods in the village shop. I don't think Waitrose would have stood a chance. We don't use them often but one evening we had Beouf Bourginione spelling for two... a holiday treat at the same price as fish and chips for one. We served with rice and veg very easy, quick and superb. Lovely enamel of Velocette Motorcycle.yet to be hung..I used to ride these 50 years ago. The church held a service (well done in these difficult times) so a big Bravo to them and important to us in these difficult times. Lots of things to do within easy reach. Excellent holiday destination.

  • "A very nice end cottage."

Low beams could be a problem for anyone over 5 foot 8 inches tall. Well equipped kitchen. Cottage very warm in very hot weather as is in the sun most of the day. Well stocked mini supermarket 2 minutes walk away. Nice quiet village. Well situated for many places of interest. Good communications from owner.

  • "Ticehurst was a good centre for visiting lots of national trust sites and a very good village in itself."

I expect the weather helped !

  • "This is a lovely comfortable cottage although it would be quite cold out of season."

As the description says it is only suitable for a couple and the ceilings are very low - at 5' 11" I bumped my head on the ceiling beams several times during my stay. The stairs wto the bedroom bathroom could also be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. Parking is also a slight problem as it is on a narrow one-way street although we always managed to find a slot within about 20 yards of the door. The cottage and the village were both lovely with good local shops and the Bell Pub and there is plenty to do in the surrounding area. We had a very good week thank you.
