Everything you could want is provided including the most comfortable bed out of all properties we have stayed in this year. This cottage is in a great location enabling us to visit many places including Beachy Head, Seven Sisters, Brighton, Scotney Castle, Batemans, Canterbury Cathedral and many more. The owner is very friendly and gave us a few steers for things to do in the area. We would highly recommend this property!

The furnishings and appliances are great and the Bed is really comfortable. We were lucky to have warm and sunny weather and enjoyed sitting in the courtyard garden with a cup of coffee or glass of wine. Jamie the owner was at hand if we had any questions. The area is great for visiting National Trust houses plus many famous gardens. Hope to revisit next year.

The weather was good enough for us to make use of the enclosed patio garden. Jamie was available on the end of the phone to help with any queries. The owners of the local Spar shop were very friendly and helpful, including recommending a visit to Seven Sisters and the Long Man of Wilmington, which was a very pleasant day out. We also enjoyed visits to Battle Abbey, Sissinghurst, Bateman's and the RSPB nature reserve at Dungeness.

There is so much here to see & do – we visited castles at Dover & Pevensey, houses at Bateman’s & Ightham Mote, gardens at Sheffield Park, saw the Poohsticks bridge at Hartfield & travelled on the Bluebell Railway. The weather was outstanding, 28 degrees nearly every day, so we were really spoiled for sunshine. Thanks to our hosts, Jamie & Katya, for their friendly welcome & helpful tips. We should be delighted to return here in the future, as it has been such a lovely week.

Spacious for two, most comfortable holiday cottage bed we've slept in, comfortable chairs, smart TV, internet, clean, nice kitchen and bathroom. The weather was very hot but this cottage remained relatively cool and a comfortable temperature. Slightly more expensive than a basic holiday cottage but everything is in really good condition, stylish and works as it should, so worth the extra in this case.

Review Positives: lovely messages from the hosts prior to arrival to welcome us etc, good base to visit surroundings, comfy and cosy, smart tv and internet, adequate level of cleanliness, coffee pods and tea bags provided Negatives: had to clean the oven as was dirty, water heating went off twice during our stay but was, at least in the first occasion, quickly resolved, quite cold and only enough logs for one fire, poor communication from hosts following leaving and asking if they could sign out from tv apps (still have not heard from them), no welcome pack - not even a little butter or milk, lack of cleaning products

We are very sorry to read this review and learn that your stay was not entirely satisfactory. We endeavour to make every guests stay as positive as we can and will take your comments on board. In response however to your comments, we would like the opportunity to respond. Cleanliness: The cottage is cleaned before every stay and checked. Wood: We provide more than enough wood for several fires including kinding and firelighters, more is available upon request and is stacked up outside the cottage and in the cottage garden wood store for guests to re stock. Heating. The cottage is fitted with Hive technology and can be controlled via the thermostat and independently at each radiator. Hot Water. this was unfortunate and irregular, however the fault was fixed as soon as we were notified. As with any home, occassionaly issues with boilers arise and we hope our guests understand this. Communication: With regards to communication and signing out from TV apps, we did explain that we were on holiday and we had to send someone round to do this despite the fact the cottage was occupied. Unfortunately, it was not easy for us to continue to respond once we had left the country as we were taking a break as a family. However, the apps were signed out as soon as we recieved word from you that you had left them on. Welcome Pack: We provided all cleaning products including dish washer and washing machine capsules, nespresso coffee pods, tea and sugar for the duration of a stay. As this is not a B&B, we unfortunately do not provide milk, butter etc.. which can be purchased at the local shop, In our welcome communication we always ask if there is anything we can do to make your stay more comfortable, however we will take this on board for the future. We thank you for your feedback, and welcome all guests if they have any issues to speak directly to us at the time as we live next door. All the best. Jamie and Katya Property Owner

  • "We had a bad experience on leaving the property."

The exit onto a busy section of the A265 is very narrow & the bank & shrubs on either side of the drive partially obscure vision of traffic when turning out left. When making the turn left the back nearside tyre crashed into an obstruction at ground level resulting in a burst tyre. We managed to drive to Broad Oak village hall & had a 3.5 hour wait before assistance arrived to replace the tyre.

We are sorry that you had an unpleasant experience when leaving the property. We would have been very happy to assist had you let us know. The road is busy but is of a standard width and the driveway is extremely wide, allowing for generous turning space upon leaving. The bank at the property is raised but the shrubs and planting is cut back to ensure sufficient view points. We are very sorry that the pleasure of your stay was affected but we have not experienced any issues ourselves or from our guests using the drive since opening. Property Owner

Hosts, Jamie and Katya, were very friendly and helpful but never obtrusive. The outdoor patio space was super but weather was not good enough to use it. Parking space very roomy. The only slight quibble we had that it would have been nice to have a walk-in shower rather than over the bath as headroom wasn't very good but obviously many guests may want a bath.

We were very comfortable in the stylish , modern, spacious, clean cottage. The road next to the cottage is busy but not much of a bother. Located close to good walks and a 30 minute drive from the beach. We found bags for rubbish and food recycling, tin foil and dishwasher tablets in the kitchen cupboards. And the nespresso machine was nice to have. The little outdoor space was very welcome and nicely enclosed. Even though the cottage is right next door to the main house it still feels private. There’s a good Greek restaurant- Pilio in Heathfield. Try it. The lovely cottage helped us relax even more.

The furnishings were high quality and the refurbishment was done to a high specification. The area was lovely too, but as mentioned previously very close to the main road, though it didn't really bother us much - but obviously thats a personal thing. Did find it hard to find, turning could do with larger signage. Bed was very comfy and everything was spotless. There were a few very minor issues - a woodburner with a few pieces of wood, but no kindling/fire lighters. The kitchen was lovely but surprisingly no where to put food (except a fridge). No additional items that have normally been provided in previous cottages I've stayed in eg tin foil, clingfilm, spare bin bags, etc. Though the welcome pack did have a washing/diswasher tablet, wine and coffee capsules for the machine. The TV signal dropped out alot, it as easier to use the wifi enabled apps - wifi was really good. We will be back, as it was in all a fab holiday - perhaps next time you could organise better weather!! ;)

The kitchen is lovely and really well equipped, the lounge/diner is really homely, the bed is really comfy and the garden is just perfect - we ate outdoors all week! Jamie and Katya are lovely, and so accommodating. In all honesty, we are surprised that this gorgeous cottage doesn't have 5* (or 5tick) rating.
