  • "Nice, recently decorated cottage."

Well priced, handy location for shops and restaurants in Birchington and Minnis Bay. Good sized bedrooms but downstairs space was tight for our family of 4 with 2 small children. For 4 adults, well you would know one another very well by the end of your stay! Generally well equipped although the following would have been helpful: large wine glasses, kitchen scissors, microwaveable bowls, information on recycling. There is no parking at the property, we had to park 5 mins walk away. Not really a problem for us but might be for the less mobile. Thanks for a lovely, if slightly cramped, stay!

  • "This cottage was really clean and fresh feeling with tasteful decor and good living space for 3 adults."

In fact I would say it was a milk jug and a pair of scissors short of perfectly equipped. Recycling bins and details of collection would have been a useful addition. We had a very comfortable stay - thank you.

  • "Lovely, cosy, comfortable, clean cottage with all we needed for our stay."

An amazingly generous welcome pack from the owner who was super friendly when we spoke. Only one thing I would mention is that bedroom 2 is small for 2 adults and it would be hard to seat 4 adults comfortably in the sitting room. On the Sykes website the cottage is advertised still as pet friendly which on clarification I was told it isn't.

  • "This is our second time at 6 Flint Cottage, and hopefully not our last."

It is perfect for our needs. The walks across the fields to the sea in the early evening, starting at the end of the road are peacefully invigorating, we took our cycles and cycled off road (mostly) to Margate, one way, and Herne Bay the other. There is a Train Station a 20 minute walk away. A terrific Turkish Restaurant, Fish and chip shop, and Curry house all in Station road. A well equipped kitchen for home cooking, AND the most thoughtful and generous welcome package we've ever encountered. First rate.

  • "The cottage had a good location and the facilities we had expected from its description (included good shower, comfy beds), but the cleanliness was not up to the standards we expect, and failed to match cleanliness levels of other Sykes cottages we have stayed in."

There were crumbs and dirt on kitchen floor and surfaces; spillages and grease on the broken bin and kitchen units, wall tiles, oven - everything; all surfaces needed a thorough clean and proper wipe down. Cobwebs and insects in corners of walls and ceilings. Dirt, dust and rubbish in and behind bedside drawers. It felt dirty and certainly put a negative tint on our holiday. Great that the host provided a box of chocolates and a packet of biscuits, but I’d much, much rather that more time had been spent on ensuring the property was appropriately and importantly clean and things working properly / not broken (eg toilet roll holder, kitchen clock, noisy and flashing bedside lights); and that kitchen cupboards better organised so there was actually somewhere to put your food. The sofas showed too many old stains too. Simply not good enough and too much evidence of previous guests. Very disappointing.

  • "Perfect base while we attended the The Open Golf at Sandwich."

Very comfortable little cottage with everything provided and more. The baskets of food goodies and the chocolate cake were very welcome The village centre about 10 minutes walk has a range of shops and eateries The coast is a very short drive away of a 30 minute walk across fields

  • "This is the third time that we have stayed at this cottage in Birchington over the last two years."

It's ideal for a walking, cycling base or just driving around the county as there is so much to do in Kent and the towns are all very near to each other. The local bus service is also ideal for getting around all the local towns if you do not drive.

  • "I have ticked 'met expectations' because I have found over the years that Sykes listings are very accurate."

My wife and I had a wonderful time here, starting with a well thought out and generous 'welcome pack' Being in a Cul-de Sac, it was nice and quiet, with plenty of free parking just around the corner. An abundance of birdlife welcomes each morning, and you can spend whole days avoiding roads by walking to the end of the row, where there is a footpath through fields that takes you to the seafront, about a 40 minute walk, or a 90 minute walk if you take the less obvious choice, halfway. (You'll see). We have been home less than a day and have already re-booked for later on this year, when we will take our Cycles to tackle the coastal Viking trail. Also, a 20 minute stroll to the Railway station for Margate, Broadstairs. Ramsgate etc;.

Local tourist places such as Whitstable and Broadstairs are a short distance away as is Canterbury and Sandwich. All really nice places to visit.

Located in narrow lane that adds to charm with loads of parking around surrounding streets . The cottage itself was immaculate and credit to its owners . Decent sized bedrooms and rooms with charming garden . Well stocked kitchen and all utensils catered for . Lovely shower and bath . Cottage has kept its charm with a modern touch . I would recommend this cottage and it’s location being around 3/4 miles to beach . All areas very accessible. The owners left a very well stocked welcome pack and card . The cottage was small but spotless clean. Towels were soft and beds comfortable. A welcome pack was useful as shops a 10 minute walk away.
