Amanda was so helpful and friendly and as was all the people at St Andrews Lake. The lodge was sparkling and has everything you need for you little break. The fresh eggs, butter and milk was a lovely touch upon arrival. Hot tub was amazing especially at night looking at the stars. Will definitely be returning.

  • "Amanda and Mona were fabulous at sorting the issues we encountered on our first night."

Mona’s number given to you by Sykes is missing a digit so doesn’t work- you can find it in the info book inside the lodge though. The whole area and the lodge are so peaceful and idyllic, you could almost picture it as a holiday abroad. The hot tub is absolutely amazing, we could’ve spent every waking hour in it! A few setbacks however. The mattress and the sofa could do with updating- both were very uncomfortable. The shower isn’t great, you have to compromise on either heat or water pressure. The plates are too big to fit in the dishwasher and also the sink so washing up is a mission in itself. In spite of the above, we loved it. Listening to the owls whilst in the hot tub at dusk is an absolute joy. This place is a gem but with a little tweak here and there and a bit of TLC it’ll be an absolute diamond.

  • "I have emailed Sykes cottages as we had a really really disappointing stay due to the constant sound of diggers and works men going up and down waking us up early in the mornings!"

I am currently waiting for an email back. Also the kitchen ware, eg. Plates bowls cups, trays were all covered in the last persons food. The photos aren’t an accurate representation of the cabin inside, for the price I payed we could have got flights to Spain for a nicer weekend.

  • "This log cabin is a real hidden gem!"

We had an absolutely amazing holiday here and loved every minute. It’s even better than described. We wanted a really relaxing holiday and that’s exactly what we got but there are amenities like restaurants nearby if you want to explore. The cabin has everything you need, all kitchen utensils too and the owners really couldn’t do anymore for you. When we first got there the main oven had stopped working, these things happen, but the owner went straight out bought a microwave and had an engineer with us by 930am the next day which was a Sunday on a bank hols weekend!! And we had a top oven that worked and would have been sufficient. That’s service for you! The owners are there when you need them but give you full privacy if you don’t. We went kayaking, paddle boarding, walking, fishing, relaxed in the hot tub and sat in front of the fire out on the terrace of an evening. You get full private use of the land in front of the cabin to the lake too. I really can’t recommend this place enough, you can probably tell :) and will definitely be back again soon.

When we arrived we were shocked, it was so much better than we had expected. The location was stunning and the lodge itself was 10/10. Amanda met us at the gate and was so welcoming, all the staff we met were friendly and helpful and everything had been thought of. We had the best time and will definitely be returning again soon.

  • "The fishing lodge is perfect for peace and quiet and solitude, the perfect place to relax."

the water in the lake is crystal clear and you can watch the fish swim right up to the bank. the lake is perfect for swimming and the lodge host Amanda was friendly and helpful they even provided life jackets and paddle boards we used on the lake and thoroughly enjoyed (it was our first experience on paddle boards and even for complete novices it was easy to do). We also enjoyed the lazy spa, BBQ and sitting at night watching the sun set before lighting the log burner and listening to the owls and fox's. A great location for easy days out to hastings, canterbury and margate but in all honesty once you settle by the lake you don't want to leave. We have rebooked already for next year.

Thank you so much guys!! It was a really great birthday get away for my partner and we couldn’t recommenced this lodge enough. We’ve told everybody and anybody how great it was and that was everything from the location, the accommodation, the facilities, the privacy and the great hosts! Highly recommended. Thanks, Lee
