  • "Great house for a family or a group of friends on holiday."

    Reviewed by AllisonNov 2023

  • "We received plenty of information about the property, accessing the key, leaving the property after our stay."

The property was in a great location with interesting views at the back of the property, we watched cows, heron, rabbits, foxes and birds of prey. On arrival the house was spotless. The kitchen was well equipped, even down to kitchen scale, measuring cups etc things I have had to take on previous holiday for grandchildren's cake making. Beds were comfortable and there were plenty of bathrooms to accommodate us all. Three generations of the family had a fantastic week. Just one point, would have liked a washing line/ tumble dryer to be able to dry washing.

Hi Gail Many thanks for your very positive review i am really glad you enjoyed your stay. Just one small point though that whilst not helpful now it might be useful for other guests reading this review. There is a washing line. It’s a retractable one attached to the wall in the garden. Thanks for your comments though as i agree its not immediately obvious. A really big thanks for your feedback, as a result we have put a note in the welcome pack in the house and have also updated the property description. Again many thanks and hope you return soon. • "Wonderful - home from home and this fitted the bill for the needs of 3 generations of guests perfectly!"

Highly recommended! Only comment with such a large accommodation is that it may be difficult to fully list itinery. Our query to you as to availablity of electric fans was (understandibly) met with the answer if not listed not provided. With such large windows we needed them even in cooler weather. Of course they were provided!

Play area in the garden was great for the children. Pete was just installing several portable fans which were much appreciated as it was warm weather. Nice thoughtful touch. Great base for exploring an area we've never been to. Highly recommend.

  • "Well equipped eg crockery, fridge/freezer and oven space and cooking utensils; TV not straightforward and kitchen TV missing many Freeview channels."

No radio (s). Hot water was Hot ! Maybe a few “coffee-table” books/guidebooks/maps helpful. Location completely excellent : contrast the open countryside with the sea walks two minutes away. Local shop useful. Sense of space lovely. Very minor : front door lock needs maintenance.

  • "Great property: clean, modern and spacious and very conveniently situated for visiting Dymchurch, White Cliffs of Dover, Dungeness (we caught the train from New Romney), Littlestone beach and the designer outlet at Ashford."

The only improvements I would suggest would be very minor: we could have done with a washing line outside, and we bought our own loo roll from Aldi because the one that was in the house when we arrived was too thin.

  • "The welcome pack for this house exudes warmth, reinforced by a personal email from the owners and a very generous welcome basket."

The house itself is excellent. Bright, quiet, very spacious and modern, it has a fantastic, well-equipped, kitchen and a lovely living area with a great view over part of the marshes - very relaxing! It's also perfectly located for walking the English Coast Path all the way from Rye to Dover, (which we comfortably managed in our week here). The stop for the 102 bus, which runs along the coast for that whole section, is just 4 or 5 minutes walk away. So convenient and, just as important, very reliable! There are plenty of restaurants, take-aways. convenience stores and even a large Sainsburys within 20 - 30 minutes walking distance, as well as an amazing tardis-like Spar just a 5 minute walk away. We had a wonderful week here exploring Rye, Dungeness, Dymchurch, Hythe, Folkestone and Dover as well as Littlestone itself.

  • "Outstanding property, ideal for a large family gathering, the kitchen diner was a place you didn’t want to leave makes you want to stay and chat, for the cook I never felt that anyone was getting in the way even with the children running around."

The property had an outstanding amount of utensils to service all the family. Two things that could be provided are oven gloves and some trays. This comment must not take away from the overall outstanding facilities of the property. The living room was perfect for relaxing. Great nights sleep on very comfortable beds. All the children felt at home from the moment they walked in. I would recommend the property to anyone who wants a perfect home from home holiday.

About the location

Folkstone 13.9 miles

Littlestone-on-Sea is a small coastal village close to New Romney in Kent, England. It was established in the 1880s by Sir Robert Perks as a resort for the gentry, at the point of the local lifeboat station. At low tide a World War II Mulberry Harbour Phoenix breakwater is visible along the coast; the caisson was unable to be refloated as part of the post D-Day harbour construction in Normandy, so was abandoned. The nature of the Phoenix breakwaters meant they were constructed and sunk until needed (so as to be invisible to air attack); by design they would have had the water evacuated by Royal Engineers and then been towed to France where they would have become part of the harbour. There is a P.L.U.T.O. or Pipe Line Under The Ocean, station, formerly used to carry petrol across to France during the D-Day landings.
