  • "Lovely cottage, extremely peaceful in glorious countryside and very convenient for Canterbury and seaside."

everything is very well done, lovely welcome pack and everything you could want provided. however, we had a few caveats; this property is not good for the elderly and less able as stairs difficult and no WC on same floor as main bedroom. the listing for 5 people is misleading as it does not specify where the 5th person sleeps. actually this is because one bedroom has a very small double and a single bed, but i had hoped there would be a bed downstairs. in the event our daughter did not join us so it did not matter.

Hi, I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay and am sorry that you had a few issues. To confirm there is a WC off the main bedroom along with a sink in the bedroom. Also, I did not make up the fold-out bed for a fifth guest as I was only aware of four guests staying. If I had known that you required this additional bed, I would have provided it. Many thanks for your observations Debbie Property Owner

Our small dog was then greeted by Willow ( Debbie’s spaniel but during our stay both kept a low profile and left us to enjoy ourselves, all in all it was a great experience, the only disappointment was the Gate Inn the local pub. We had a terrible Sunday lunch served by children, not recommended from our experience.

She had kindly left us a welcome pack with wine on the side and milk in the fridge which I thought was a lovely touch. The property itself is spacious and comfortable and some lovely features. You have to remember how low the beams are at times but it was a lovely place. The location was quiet and just off the a299 so easy access to the coast and Canterbury. I would however recommend some new pots and pans for self catering but this was only a minor thing. Also the main bedroom didn't have hanging space but neither of these points impacted on our lovely stay so thankyou.

Unfortunately two of us were 6ft tall and had a few bumps on the low beams but soon remembered to duck! Nice welcome pack - thank you. There was everything you could need in the kitchen. Lots of games, DVD's and books to keep you entertained. Loads of good quality towels in the bathrooms and towels together with a large throw for the dogs. Both of the dogs settled really quickly and the enclosed garden was bigger than I had imagined. Next to the cottage is a paddock we could walk in and an orchard further down where there is a footpath so definitely a dog friendly environment. The bedrooms were comfortable and nicely decorated. The heating was really effective and generously left on for 17 hours a day. Although Brew Cottage is in the middle of nowhere you were only a few miles away sea. Being there during storm Ciaran meant we didn't ventre far for a couple of days but we were happy relaxing in Brew Cottage. Wouldn't hesitate to book again with the owners next door happy to provide assistance if needed. I'm only sorry we didn't meet Willow perhaps next time x Thank you.

It has all the charm and appeal of an old home but also modern day conveniences. We found it very comfortable and spacious for a family of three – and also dog friendly. The kitchen is well equipped and has plenty of room and, as promised, the garden is an afternoon suntrap. Also, as advertised by your friendly hosts, there is the chance of a visit from their energetic young spaniel Willow, which our own playful puppy was delighted about! In terms of places to visit, Whitstable and Margate are very different seaside towns but both very enjoyable in their own ways and are easily reached. That said, we did not venture out too much in the evenings, enjoying the surroundings of the cosy cottage instead.

It is in a very quiet hamlet, but easy walking distance to the local village, where there is a lovely pub (The Gate). The cottage was ideal for our family (two adults and two Labradors). The cottage has direct access on to a Public Footpath and there are many paths from the location. The setting is also gated so your vehicle is very safe. There was a lovely welcome gift on arrival and the owners could not have done more to make us feel welcome (even laying on blankets for the dogs). !!By . The surroundings were so peaceful and if you want somewhere to relax and unwind, this is the place for you. The owners were so thoughtful in catering to the needs of holidaymakers and went above and beyond to leave things that you might possibly need. We had milk, eggs, butter, bread and a bottle of wine waiting for us on our arrival and little touches, such as doggy towels to use for our wet pooches. We could stay in the cottage and walk the dogs through fields and woods right outside the door or we could go to the nearest beach 2 miles away. The cottage was ideal as a base to visit Canterbury, Ramsgate, Herne Bay and Broadstairs which were on my 'must do 'list. Although the cottage had everything for cooking a meal, we always eat out on holiday. We found the ' king Ethelbert' pub at nearby Reculver had a good selection of meals at reasonable prices and their Sunday roast was delicious. We were very impressed with Sykes as a holiday company and always find their description of a cottage to be accurate. Booking a holiday is always straightforward and easy to do online. Will definitely be using them again. By the way, the owners dog 'Wliiow' is an absolute darling and doesn't mind strange people or dogs, she came to say 'hello' to us once then left us to our own devices.

It was ideal for our two labradors and large enough for them each to find their own space so they settled in straight away. The private enclosed garden that went right around the cottage with doors leading to it from the front and the back was great and a gate in the hedge leads into a field with another gate into an apple orchard which was great for a morning walk before setting off in the car. Debbie and Ken immediately responded to our every need and left a generous welcome basket including eggs, milk and bread. We loved the comfortable carpet and rugs in all the right places and having three loos and two bathrooms plus a basin in the bedroom was a luxury. We found lots to do in the surrounding area including beaches, a nature reserve, beautiful gardens in sandwich. Faversham and Ruculver, with it's Roman Fort were well worth a visit as well as the East Kent Railway stations. We found lots of dog friendly pubs serving good food and a farm shop with fresh produce to cook in the kitchen at Brew cottage which is great value for money. We are already planning a return visit for next year as there is lots more to see that we did not get to this time and the cottage was perfect for us and our doggie family who loved the resident Spaniels Jess and Willow.

We were looking for somewhere to spend a few lazy days, just walking and going to the beach with the dogs and this cottage provided just that with its log fire and location. Quiet and private too, I would happily spend a few more days there!!

  • "Lovely cottage and the owners made us feel that nothing was too much trouble."

It is a bit farther out of the centre of Canterbury but this suits us perfectly as it is quiet and within easy dog walking range. This was our second visit and o would recommend it.

  • "An absolutely stunning cottage."

We had a wonderful few days with the family and dog. The owners were incredibly helpful, and we couldn't have asked for anything more. There was so much to do nearby, including a dog friendly pub and lots of beaches. We did not want to leave. I will definately book again.
