Good if you have a dog, the park is only a 2 minute walk away and the town centre is about 5 or 10 minutes if you want to be the harbour. No issues to report.

  • "Cannot fault the property, lovely victorian house, unfortunately the beds were absolutely terrible, very uncomfortable, the pillows were like newspapers, very thin and uncomfortable, the wine glasses were absolutely filthy, luckily we never used any cooking facilities as we always eat out, and then the bath, my wife had to clean it for over 30 minutes when we arrived, it was disgusting, nice property let down by the lack of cleanliness."

Thank you for your comments. All beds where replaced this year, unfortunately we cannot cater for all preferences. I will replace all pillows asap. I always advise guests to contact me during there stay, if they have any concerns, so I can resolve swiftly. Unfortunately no contact was made with myself to give me the opportunity to resolve any concerns. Property Owner

The Kitchen has everything you could think of , dining room served as a great meet up to eat then a games room for cards and board games which where provided. This was a great stay and central to perfect locations to visit. Close to the harbour and close to a great park for walking your 4 legged furbabies. I would recommend the serenity to anyone who wants to visit the kent coast and also not far from Canterbury which it worth the trip.

It was also very quiet, being up a Cul-De-Sac. The Victorian Character, and the high ceilings gave us a Superb Stay. The house had everything we could have wanted for a super holiday and more. The kitchen was well equipped, and the heating first class, and very easy to set. It was larger than we had expected, and was very Spacious . The lounge television had a superb picture, and the Netflix was Brilliant. This being the first place we have ever stayed with Netflix !!! This is one of the Best Places we have stayed in, and over the Years we have stayed in a lot of cottages / hotels etc. I spoke to the owner Janine, and she was very nice, and very helpful. Everything was Super. The only Downside was Due to The Lockdown Announce by Boris Johnson that everybody should stay at Home, because of the Virus, We had to go home, so we were only there, from Saturday till Tuesday morning, instead of The week, we only had the Three Nights, but that couldn't be helped . Anyway we would like to Thank the owners, and Sykes Cottages for a Fantastic but Short Holiday, and would recomend this Lovely Cottage to Anybody, and we would definitely stay there again.Thank You from Stuart and Linda Brooks

Serenity was a lovely house but the cleanliness could be better there was other people’s dog hairs everywhere and the hover was inadequate and full of dog hairs and stunk we had to clean that before we could use it normally there are basic condiments available but wasn’t anything and the towels just wasn’t big enough and the courtyard wasn’t nice to sit out in needs a good tidy up it wouldn’t need a great deal to bring it up to scratch bit more attention to detail and it would be spot on

  • "A very nice little Victorian house in a quiet cul de sac, conveniently situated for walking into the town."

We enjoyed our stay, as did our two Manchester Terriers and their opportunity to make friends with other dogs on the park just up the road. Ramsgate is a nice town with some fine buildings and history. The house was in general clean and well equipped, though can we suggest an ironing board and iron and a squeegee for drying off the shower cubicle would be helpful. A rug and a second side or coffee table in the lounge also as glasses and cups wouldn't have to be put on the floor by anyone not sitting near the table in the corner. The lack of an obvious brochure for the property was unusual, but we eventually found the green unmarked folder two days later, with the first page printed Serenity buried in a drawer in the dining room, along with unopened mail for previous ? occupants, some of which was marked private and confidential ! This folder should be left out clearly in view as with other cottages we have rented. More of this mail was in what we subsequently discovered to be the paper recycling bag, which had been left open in the back yard to be rained in. The very complicated instructions for what to recycle where could be much better and more succinctly put, a previous person had put a black bag of what looked like rubbish in the blue lidded recycling bin, in that bag were an awful lot of cigarette ends for a non smoking property. When I first let our two dogs out into the yard, I found a small bucket full of blackened brackish water, it must have rained a lot. There was a further bin full of water and a dead orchid in a pot also full of water, sadly beyond rescue. Not wanting the dogs to drink it, I went to empty the water out to discover the bucket was full of a lot of cigarette ends. Pretty disgusting to be honest again in a no smoking property, though I suppose those afflicted with the habit had at least gone outside. So, in all, somewhere we would return to, but I hope you will take on board the minor criticisms.

About the location

RAMSGATE, KENT

Broadstairs 2 miles; Margate 5 miles; Canterbury 17 miles.

Ramsgate is a wonderful blend of maritime heritage, architectural splendour and a touch of cosmopolitan pizzazz, which was once the favoured seaside resort town of a young Queen Victoria. Why not dine alfresco and watch the yachts sail in and out of the marina, or stroll along the promenade to the harbour, the only royal harbour in the country, and choose something tasty from one of the boats landing their daily catch? For those who like nostalgia, a visit to the Pinball Parlour where you can try out the vintage machines, or to Vinyl Head Coffee to browse through the extensive selection of vinyl records, whilst enjoying delicious coffee and cake, is sure to invoke memories. There is also the world-famous Morelli’s in Broadstairs, which is said to serve the best gelato outside of Italy! Visitors are spoilt for choice when it comes to the beach, with 15 beaches and bays between Pegwell Bay and Reculver renowned for their sand and awarded 3 Blue Flags and 7 Quality Coast Awards. Watersports are a popular draw all year round, with many skilled and experienced instructors who will take you surfing, snorkelling, diving, boating and kite surfing. For golf lovers, Ramsgate is well served by some of the best courses in the UK (Royal St. George’s - Open venue, Royal Cinque Ports and North Foreland). Whether it be beach combing, golf, boat rides, watersports or a relaxing gourmet getaway, Ramsgate has it all to offer. For the more energetic, there’s the Viking Coastal Trail, one of the most attractive leisure cycle routes in Kent. With excellent restaurants serving local delicacies, including Ramsgate Harbour Brasserie and the Empire Room, to food from around the world alongside traditional English pubs, you are never far from your gastronomic desire either. And for those (occasional!) rainy days, why not visit the Granville Cinema or the quirky Palace Cinema in Broadstairs, where the organist co-owner regular performs film music of days gone by before the showing? Also, The Tunnels visitor attraction, an insight into wartime Britain, is highly recommended.
