It's a very good holiday let. Very clean and well equipped. We love the sea views and the sound of the sea as you fall asleep. • "The property is wonderful and we have visited before."

The owners were very understanding when we requested a refund as scaffolding would be in place over the weekend. Unfortunately Sykes did not get back to us and let us know about this until two days before we were due to go. It was a birthday celebration and the owners kindly rushed back from their holiday, sorted out the flat and were really lovely and welcoming. I did however have to pay again, which I did on the understanding I would soon get a refund back into my account from the original booking. We went on the 25.9.20, it is now 15.10.20 and although the refund is sitting on my booking page it has not been returned to me! I know the owners aren't at fault but having only the ability to phone SYKES to sort this out is a big issue as I cannot wait on a phone line as long as present circumstances require so I think emailing to them to get this sorted would be a really good option in this case Unfortunately not open to anyone. Up until now I have found Sykes really good and this property is fantastic, we will definitely return. I can't fault the owners at all and my birthday weekend was wonderful, even with scaffolding obscuring some of the beautiful views which is a definite reason to visit. It is beautifully laid out and a perfect place to relax and unwind, truly wonderful! It is just a shame SYKES didn't do particularly well when dealing with issues or refunding me money.

First of all, the location is amazing, sipping a cup of coffee and looking out at the sea is a lovely way to start the day. The apartment is well-stocked with everything you may require, including take away menus and leaflets about local sights. I loved everything about it. It may, however, not be suitable for really tall folk. :) I bumped my head a couple of times but took care about where I was going after that.

The property

Set on the sea front in the centre of the historic town of Sandgate is The Eaves, a superb second floor apartment which was featured in the Sunday Mirror’s Top 10 Sea View Staycation Cottages.

With the beach right on your doorstep and all amenities only a few minutes’ walk, this lovely holiday home is set in an early Victorian house which was built for retired gentlemen and is perfect for couples looking to stay somewhere full of charm and character.

Beautifully restored and updated by the owners with care and attention to detail, this stylish apartment runs right across the top floor which gives all of its rooms uninterrupted and fantastic sea views.

The spacious sitting room has quality furnishings and comfortable seating, making it a lovely room to relax in either on colder, blustery days enjoying the warmth of the woodburner with a good book, or on long summer evenings watching the sun set with someone special and a bottle of wine.

From the smaller window in this room guests can see the Martello towers which run along the coastline.

There are two attractive bedrooms in this lovely apartment, the larger master bedroom is comfortable and stylishly furnished while the cosiness of the smaller double bedroom will have you quickly climbing into bed, quite literally!

What can be nicer than settling down to the sound of the waves on the pebbles?

The compact bathroom offers the option of either a quick shower or after a busy day exploring this part of Kent, a long hot soak in the bath.

Meals can never be rushed in this self-catering holiday apartment as you will find yourselves enjoying the sea views too much.

The apartment enjoys views of spectacular sunrises and sunsets across the sea; on a clear day France can be glimpsed at sunrise and the whole bay from Sandgate to Dungeness can be seen at sunset. The property is also easily accessible from central London with a high speed train link bringing you to the local train station of Folkestone West in just over 50 minutes.

On sunny days, pack a picnic in the hamper the owner provides, together with the rug and chairs provided and enjoy dining alfresco on the beach.

Outside this apartment lies the coastal town of Sandgate, which is sandwiched between Folkestone with its fine restaurants, creative quarter and harbour arm development (including a lighthouse Champaign bar in the summer) and Hythe with its traditional coastal resort charms.

All three towns are connected by a wonderful coastal path popular with walkers and cyclists.

Not only does Sandgate have a long pebble bay ideal for watersport lovers and beachcombers, but it is full of tea rooms, pubs, antique shops, restaurants, bistros and a micro pub serving a selection of local beers, ciders and wines. After long exciting days, and dreamy evenings in Sandgate, stroll back to the welcome of The Eaves and enjoy a holiday to remember.
