  • "We have stayed at Smallcroft several times and always enjoy our visit."

There is generous off-street parking and it is in a pleasant and safe area. The bungalow itself has a good holiday feel and has a large garden. It is well maintained and cared for by Jo, the owner. She is always on hand to deal with any issues arising. In general, a home from home for us.

  • "We found the cottage to be very clean and comfortable with all the equipment, bedding and towels etc."

that we needed. Essentials such as washing-up liquid, toilet rolls, tea, coffee, sugar, fresh milk and biscuits were there when we arrived. There was also a beautifully decorated Christmas Tree for our pre-Christmas stay. Jo was very helpful and replied promptly to any queries that I had (by text). Location was good for the North Kent Coast. I would recommend Smallcroft to others and we would seek to rent it again if we return to the area.

  • "This was a perfect property for our needs."

All the rooms were of a good size and that includes the bedrooms. The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of everything so the use of the dishwasher is very economical. The lounge/diner had comfortable furniture and the substantial dining table was of a good size with comfortable chairs. Had the weather been a bit kinder we would have used the outside space for relaxing and dining in the evenings as the furniture provided was excellent. The location was ideal for us with nothing too far away and Whitstable is in easy walking distance even for our two young grand children. The Rose in Bloom pub/restaurant is a 10min walk and worth a visit either for a drink or tasty meal. The local beaches at Seasalter and Whitstable are nothing special so it is worth the 30 mins drive to sandy Minnis Bay (Birchington) where parking is free along the promenade plus there are the usual facilities such as toilets, restaurants, cafes and other types of food and drink outlets. It is worth checking tide times beforehand though as high tide does reach the prom walls. The owner Jo was lovely and very welcoming and keeps the property in excellent condition and we are already making plans to return there at some stage in the future.

  • "This property is probably one of the best that I have stayed in recently."

It is deceptively large, the lounge / dining room is enormous, and all of the bedrooms are roomy with good storage. The kitchen is well appointed, the bathroom very smart and modern and the overall standard of fixtures and fittings impressive. I feel that this bungalow is loved by it's owners, and I loved it too. Weather was against me , but on the one sunny evening the garden was a real sun trap, and plenty of seating to choose from.

  • "We particularly liked that there was double crockery/cutlery etc that anyone who has a dishwasher knows is essential."

This is possibly the first property we've stayed in that does that. Dishwasher was a bit awkward to get to, but we'd still prefer that to having no dishwasher at all. Everything was good quality. Rooms were spacious - there were only three of us, but with five there would still have been ample space. Twin beds were a bit hard, but that's probably just personal preference, other beds were lovely. Location was great, within 10mins walk of the beach. Heating worked really well. Shower was powerful. Location was easy to find.

  • "Warm, clean, comfortable, with ample parking for three cars and with all the amenities we needed so no complaints from us."

The owner welcomed us and explained all the working of the property and also left some much welcomed milk tea and biscuits for our arrival. The weather was kind to us even though it was winter but not warm enough to enjoy the patio furniture which would have been nice. A small point which we would have liked was a kitchen blind as the next property is close enough to see into although we never experienced any problems. The fittings are there so assume it had recently come down/broke. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return or recommend.

The kitchen is more spacious than it looks in the photos and several of us were able to make drinks or snacks at the same time. We needed to request a change of bedding as my toddler was unwell and Jo was helpful and responsive. Very well thought out facilities, for example some places that are advertised as accommodating 5 would only have 5 plates, 5 mugs, 5 forks etc but there was plenty of everything meaning we could pop things in the dishwasher and still have another round of coffees. Highly recommend.

As such to have the outdoor comfortable space and the sea so near (3-4 minute walk) was great. We didn’t do a great deal of cooking but kitchen suited us. There’s no bath in bathroom but again that suited us and all very straightforward, clean and modern. The host, Jo, was lovely, very responsive and keen to ensure our stay was a good one. Would have liked to have had more details on what’a around locally and things to do. We were genuinely surprised (delighted) to find the sea so close! Worth noting that we didn’t use our car much at all, which was great, decent shop (Co-op) and pub in walking distance and we also walked along the coast to Whitstable (25-30 mins) which was gorgeous.

This was a comfortable, warm and homely place, with a lovely welcome from the owner. The wifi was good, oven, hob, dishwasher and washing machine all worked well. It was good to be so near the beach, and there were wonderful nearby walks. The kitchen was equipped with a good supply of plates and cutlery, but only one bowl of any kind. The shower, rather than a pleasant start to the day, was a daily battle to get water that wasn't far too hot. Some years ago I gave up taking salt and pepper to cottage holidays, since we always found it supplied, but here there was none, necessitating a quick dash to the - convenient and very well-stocked - nearby shop, before we could make our evening meal on arrival. Information about the area would have been welcome. A shame about the slow wifi which meant my son had to return to London sooner than planned - he could not work using it.

The property

This timber framed bungalow is situated in the village of Seasalter, Kent, a little coastal estuary town next to its busier neighbour Whitstable.

Equally perfect for families or friends, Smallcroft is a ground floor retreat with a light and fresh interior, welcoming guests to its doors all-year-round.

Comprising a collection of quality rooms, this cottage has been thoughtfully designed to promote comfort and relaxation every day of your holiday.

Inside, discover a contemporary kitchen backed by deep red tiles, and a comfy lounge/diner where you can gather together with your loved ones, morning through to evening.

There is a collection of bedrooms to choose from as the night draws in, including a double with bedside tables and a chest of drawers, a stylish twin, and a single option which also features a trundle bed should you wish to bring along extra guests.

The shower room is decorated in a marble effect, somewhere of quality to get ready during your stay.

Outside is just as appealing, previewing a raised decked area with furniture, as well as a lower tier with comfy seating, your homely place to relax under the sunshine.

The beach at Seasalter is mainly shingle and sand and therefore quieter than the sandy bays at Westgate-on-Sea which is just along the coast.

Whitstable is a quaint coastal town, with cobbled streets, quirky shops and a well-visited fishing harbour.

Take a trip to Faversham where you can take a guided tour.

A charming holiday experience to build some memories.

About the location

SEASALTER

Whitstable 2 miles; Herne Bay 6 miles; Canterbury 5 miles; Faversham 5 miles; Westgate-on-Sea 10 miles.

Seasalter is a pretty village located by the sea on the north coast of Kent, between the towns of Whitstable and Faversham. The beach at Seasalter is mainly shingle and sand and therefore quieter than the more sandy bays at Westgate-on-Sea which is just along the coast. Seasalter Sailing Club, which has a clubhouse on Faversham Road, hosts catamaran boats which race on the River Swale Estuary, and there is also a private Water Ski Club with launch ramp. The Sportsman is a very popular pub and restaurant, earning a Michelin-star in 2008, so if you are celebrating a special event while visiting Seasalter this offers a mouthwatering menu, just make sure to book in advance. Public transport is very well covered in this village with regular buses to Canterbury, Whitstable and Faversham, each place offering visitors a day full of interest. Canterbury is ideal for a day exploring historic houses, taking walks or boat trips along the river, visiting a museum or two, a theatre evening or just enjoying a browse around the shops. A little less well known is that in Canterbury The Spitfire Ground is home to Kent County Cricket Club, and as well as cricket hosts other events during the year, so if a day of "leather on willow" is just for you or maybe a music event is more your scene, look to see what is on during your stay. Whitstable is a quaint coastal town, with cobbled streets, quirky shops and a well -visited fishing harbour where you can buy fish straight off of the boats, and if you want something to wash it down with, then take a trip to Faversham where you can take a guided tour around Shepherd Neame, Britain's oldest brewery dating back to 1698 and select a bottle to take home. After all the tours and sampling you may feel a day of walks and beachcombing could be just what you need, so pack a picnic and with a beach towel and a hat to shield the sun, make for the beach at Seasalter and enjoy the sound of the waves and the scent of the sea!
