  • "This was an amazing property and was well equipped with everything we needed as a family of 4."

Our stay was very enjoyable and comfortable. There were lots of stairs inside this property which I personally did not mind but if you are elderly or disabled, this may be a difficult stay. The property was also on a very busy main road, so be careful if you have little ones. There is parking along a very long strip and we were always able to park. The beach is lovely which was great as there was not really a garden as such (small courtyard). The shops are an 8 minute pleasant walk or just 6 minutes drive to a supermarket. The neighbours were all friendly as were the local people we met. There was an array of books and cds/vinyls to entertain yourself during your stay. The kitchen is big and has everything you need. We were able to put the slow cooker on and even bake cakes and pies. There's a lovely dining area to enjoy a meal together and catch up on your day. The double beds were very comfortable and we all slept well. There are 3 toilets, so no waiting. Showers are perfect (2) and there is a lovely big bath too. Our dog loved his stay too as we had many lovely walks along the walkway by the beach. He was not allowed on the beach which is fine by us, we drove to Winchelsea beach where he was able to run around. This was a perfect holiday for us and we will definitely be back.

Delighted that you enjoyed the house and your stay! You are most welcome to return. Property Owner

  • "Just spent a week at 6 Gloster Terrace,Sandgate,Kent."

All the bedding and towels were very clean and the beds comfy. There is everything you need for your stay and the view at the front is splendid. However a number of things need updating/replacing. 1st floor double- bed-light hanging off the bedhead and very rusty radiator top (we did not use this bedroom). Kitchen-the kettle needs replacing, it leaks and is full of limescale, the socket on the wall where the kettle was plugged in, will not turn off. The sink looks new, but the worktop at the back is thick with black mould. The splashback round the cooker is coming away from the wall. The shower room on ground floor-Shower head needs replacing as it doesn’t spray properly. Mirror over sink is loose and may fall off(the top clamps are loose). I have reported all these issues to Sykes Cottages!

  • "No 6 is a spacious house, where all rooms are well proportioned and provide ample storage space."

The sitting room on the first floor was my favourite, filled with books, records, videos, CD’s and a cracking sea view. It’s drawbacks are: a) lack of a mobile signal (O2) which was a real pain, b) my laptop security software flagged the internet connection as having a very weak and vulnerable password (which meant I was nervous of doing any financial transactions for our stay, c) the dining area floor is wood and the chairs much too heavy, large and hard and need cushions, d) there is nowhere to sit outside, the so-called courtyard has no table and chairs and in any case is pretty uninviting, d) a house for seven would ideally have more than one bathroom, e) the house needs a freshen up, with paint peeling and cupboards smelling musty, f) no hair dryer and no body length mirrors near a power point to use a hair dryer, g) bath towels were too small and did not dry properly and lastly h) the road outside is extremely busy and it certainly wouldn’t be possible to let children cross the road to the beach on their own.

  • "Thanks for a great stay!"

This is a wonderful property and was perfect for our family of 5 - a post-covid reunion of adult kids living in London and parents who flew in from Australia. We loved how spacious, comfortable and welcoming it feels - wonderful selection of books add character and the piano! Everything was beautifully clean and ready for us to enjoy. Stunning views, the beach was ideal, great kitchen too. Plenty of walks up and down the coast, local pubs were fun, and it was the perfect home for peaceful nights and sunny days together. Hope to go back again! Thanks for sharing your home.

We are so glad you enjoyed yourselves! It sounds as though you had a great holiday – we hope you’ll come back again soon. Property Owner
